      Have you ever compared Anasphere to Sporicidin? Sporicidin seems more appealing for a diy person because of its lower toxicity profile.

    Most functional medicine doctors are requiring the Ermi and at very minimum the Hertsmi2 which shows the 5 toxic molds. Hard to get around it when they are using that to equate whether you are in a "safe" environment for treatment of CIRS, MCAS, or Lyme.

    Regarding mold testing, I ordered a test from the government, I think through the Georgia extension service for $15; they sent me a simple surface test kit with a swab to send off to a lab in Jacksonville, Florida, if I remember correctly. It came back with 4 of the common molds floating around in the air around my house; in other words, nothing to be alarmed about. It wasn't that black mold people are so concerned about and it wasn't that wood rot fungus. Then I had a home inspector come (was not selling my 16 year old house); he found no problems in my roomy crawl space to indicate a source of high humidity. I have plenty of vents, no moisture seepage, fully covered in black plastic, and his moisture meter of the wood joists was well under 20; there is no musty smell. I don't have ductwork or store stuff in the space, just plumbing that does not leak, but does condensate in summer. So it's a mystery as to why there is so much mold growing. Therefore, I don't know what to do.

      Regulating the humidity is what will help you! Mold grows at 60% or higher! With a dehumidifier it will keep the humidity down and prevent mold in the air as long as there is no moisture or standing water.

      @@CrawlSpaceNinja I was afraid of that, but thanks for your advice. My only concern for myself is that no one would buy my otherwise nice house if they saw that mold and it will only get worse. The cost for your good work, as you know, is simply way more than a single 75 year old lady can afford so I don't know what to do. Even a payment plan is out of the question. Seems like there should be codes that require house building to be structured so that this does not happen in crawl spaces or that there cannot be crawl spaces. That would increase the cost of buying a house, but save us all from this problem.

    Michael, I have both White and brown mold in my crawl space in upstate NY. I took your advice and bought a AA070 dehumidifier. it is drying the hell out of the crawl. the RH is hovering in the 46% range Its cost prohibitive for me to get outside help, so I need to DIY. can you recommend a product to kill/clean(without scraping} the mold? I'm older and its not as easy to crawl in that space anymore.
    Thank you

    QUESTION: Crawl space: If mold(s) are soda blasted off wood,; would the removed molds reestablish if left on the ground / on the vapor barrier or wherever the mold falls / lands? How are molds; that are removed from surfaces, completely removed from the crawl space?

      Mold can grow anywhere there is moisture and food source. Sodium bicarbonate is alkaline and according to what I've read mold cannot grow in high ph environment but it still needs to stay dry. Mold grows in soil under plastic no matter what. Soil is filled with mold food and damp. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

    Hi there, I’m legally blind and have a hard time getting around on the Internet find information. My question is well. I’ll tell you first my house. The ductwork in my house is not wrapped or anything and my middle of my house. The floor has dropped out an inch which tells me that at one time this house had a major leak, but what I need to find out is what kind of person do I need to call to find out what’s going on under my house as far as the crawlspace what needs to be done, etc. because I can win that when the air conditioning system is on, I can smell the musty mildew smell come up the vents as far as I know I have stopped any leaks that I have I know about after I bought the house, there is no vapor barrier either

    Can I install a drywall wall separating the crawl space from the laundry room? The crawl space is clean and dry and also have a HVAC vent in the space.

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  Рік тому

      As long as drywall stays dry and humidity is under 60% we see that all the time.

    have a 2x6 pressure treated crawl space wall. Want to insulate with rock wool. Shoud I add a vapor barrier or will that trap moisture where you don't want it? Or would it be better to put up rigid foam or will will that creat a reverse vapor barrier trapping on the wrong side? Tahnks

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  Рік тому

      I don't think there is a perfect scenario for insulating wood walls in a crawl space but I do like the rockwool option with no vapor barrier best. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

    The ERMI does not lie. I have CIRS and traditional allergies. ERMI has always been dead on. Results are always proportional to the severity of my symptoms.
    Air sampling is always suggested by professionals, and is a joke. It is meaningless on its own.

    Crawl space homes that are insulated. Have mold and fungus problems in the crawlspace vapor barrier down vents no mold no fungus no rodents eating it and living in it.
