Your facial expressions at the end are priceless. You can never go wrong with the Stones.
"Your facial expressions at the end are priceless." Yeah, but--- not as much as all that *side-eye* in the original video...! :D :D
Agreed! 😄
This comment: 😆
My expectations: 🤪 or at least 😳
Me at the songs conclusion: 😐
I was a Radio Shack manager back in the early 80s when this song was a hit. My store shared a wall with a jewelry store. I had some stereos mounted against the wall and decided one night after closing to put this record on and crank up a stereo that had 80 watts per channel. Little did I know the large speakers connected to the stereo vibrated so much it set off the alarm in the jewelry store! Fortunately I was friends with the jewelry store owner and we laughed about it later. Good times.
I missed buying blank cassette tapes at radio shack.
I miss Radio Shack.
thats sounds like it was a great laugh
Brad & Lex, you’ll love their “Wild Horses” and “Its Only Rock ‘n Roll”!!
This song would fill up the dance floor at the club back in the day. The Stones are such an incredible band.
Damn yeah, you right
As usual, Keith with an iconic opening riff.
Alot of my guitar playing buddies looked down on me for buying a telecaster instead of a strat or LP. When I showed them the list of guys who play teles, their jaws dropped. Keith Richards is just one of many famous telecaster players.
The Stones dropped "Tattoo You" when I was in ninth grade. My buddies and I played the hell out of it. "Start Me Up", "Waiting On A Friend", "Hang Fire", "Slave", and "Little T&A" round out a great record. I remember thinking back then how strange it was that the bass player was older than my dad!
Their last great album
Perfect example of Charlie watts being an underrated drummer.
One of their best songs no one talks about is "It's Only Rock And Roll (But I like It)"
I like it!
Absolutely, underrated album in my opinion. Also love If You Really Want to Be My Friend. Great album cover too
Tumbling dice
This is one of those songs that, hearing it in a stadium is kind of a life-changing experience.
One of the most recognized intro riffs to a Rock-n-Roll song ever. Iconic tune!
Recently found halls channel and loving it. It's fun to see others discover songs I've loved forever and helps me rediscover what I loved about them originally.
Love the stones. Saw the “steel wheels” tour and they opened with this song. Seen a lot of great bands in my life, but the Rolling Stones were just beyond anything I have ever seen. I was 10 feet from Keith Richards and could see his strings vibrating. I’ll never forget that concert for as long as I live.
By the way, this song is all about getting it on. Everything about it. A lot of good “naughty” put into one great song.🎵🎵
Yeah I saw them on this tour in Boulder. Heart opened the show.
This song has been/is played at many sports games since it came out.
1982 and the Stones had had one big hit after another for a remarkable 18 years! The first notes of this song will always get everyone out of their seats and onto the dance floor, guaranteed.
Well done, as always. Lex's impression of Jagger at 2:35 was truly unique. Best of wishes.
That’s a “Happy Ending.”
I've been listening to this song since the i was a kid and i never realized the last lyrics of the song were as - shall we say risqué - as they are. I was surprised at the ending as well. Thanks for your reaction - always great.
Yep...know that song, but didn't know that last claim. Missed it somehow after all these years.
Radio would " conveniently " fade out the song during that part
The Rolling Stones prime sticked around for a long time. Disco, blues, country, rock, pop, psychedelic, and they did it all at the highest level. Can’t go wrong with them
That's the secret of good rock and roll, grooves that are clean and simple, played by real people, warts and all, with the attitude and danger coming from the singer.
You really need to watch the official video to get some perspective. Love from Alabama. 🤘
I saw The Stones in 1978 and 1989. Greatest Rock N Roll Band In History... if not for The Beatles.
Or Floyd, or, The Who.
They didn’t tour in 79. I think you mean 78 or 81.
@@OutOnTheTiles I think you're right... 78.... Anaheim Calif. I did so many shows in those days, smoking a lot too so the dates get mixed up. 89 was Syracuse N.Y.
I don’t know. The older I get, the more I lean Stones over Beatles. Their music just seems to be timeless.
That ‘78 tour was the one to see! Short, sweet, and no frills. No horns, no backup singers, no props… just the Stones playing a rock & roll show. They had to perform, and they did! Check out anything from ‘’Some Girls’ Live In Texas ‘78’. My uncle worked for the Dallas radio station sponsoring the show, and said they got the band through the crowd outside in to the auditorium in the back of a Lone Star Beer truck. I was 13 years old and instead of the show I got a promo copy of ‘Some Girls’. I saw them in ‘81 in the pouring rain and they were tight in ‘89 at the Cotton Bowl and in 2006 in Austin. But I always wanted to see them in ‘78.
One of my favorites from the Stones, besides Honky Tonk Women. 👍🏼 The video for Start Me Up is pretty cool. “Waitin’ on a Friend” is another good song and video from the same album, Tattoo You.
That crazy unique bass line! This is real dance music!
Brad, Lex: Great reaction as always. But really love your Rolling Stones reactions. Besides The Stones are great instrumentally, but your reactions to the Stones lyrics are priceless. There's a reason the Stones are still selling out stadiums today 60 years after they started. They're an amazing band. But how about (Monkey Man) next? A GREAT Stones rocker.
Yes. Yes. Yes to "Monkey Man", then on to "Stray Cat Blues".
Yes to Monkey Man !!!
Yes & yes! Monkey Man & Stray Cat Blues.
19th nervous breakdown,a classic
Start Me Up is played in lots of sports venues just before kickoff, tipoff, faceoff, etc.
Saw them in Cleveland in '81, they opened with this song. Place was dark, the opening riff rang out and flash pots went off...a cool opening
Cut school with a bunch of friends my senior year, took the train to Philly and saw the opening show for this tour in 1981… BEST DAY EVER!!
I saw The Rolling Stones, last monday, in Brussels for the first time. It was AMAZING !!!
I think this song was used as the main theme for the Windows 95 launch back in ...er.. 1995. Love the hand clapping percussion.
I was in the ninth grade when this came out and saw them on that tour at the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando. That was my first stadium concert and The Henry Paul Band and Van Halen were the openers. I look back now and realize just how sweet life was back then.
I was in college in South Carolina and won free tickets from a radio station for that Tangerine Bowl concert. It was fantastic!
I love this song , It makes you want to get up and dance and you have to go and watch the official Video of him dancint to it and the band cutting up. The Mick Jaggar Dance. But love his voice and the great beat of this song and the flirtiness of a man to a woman in this song, this is how men talked in 70s and 80s , they knew how to flirt , not not the last line , maybe not last Line, LOL , that one a little father than flirting
When I was a kid my Dad was a massive stones fan. He used to dance around the living room to this song doing his Mick Jagger impression. It makes me laugh every time I hear it.
Reminds me of my Knucklehead chopper. Jockey shift, left foot clutch, open 3" drive belt, hard tail, hand formed polished steel seat, no gages. And kick start of course. Grown men cried for sure when they saw my ride.
Greatest Rock N Roll band ever 🤘
You'd enjoy "Miss You" it's a late 70s classic and Mick Jagger does a bit of spoken word in it too (the part where he's asking people, ' ch ch ch what's the matter with you boy?')
Shoulda done the video for this one. You get the full Jagger experience
Literally the universal reaction to that last lyric. It's like wait, what did he say? Does that mean what I thought it meant?
Love the Stones. Check out "She's so Cold".
Heavily influenced by the blues, but have some great ballads. Mick jagger is the ultimate frontman. Great performer.
The line 'make a dead man come' is taken from the blues song 'Shave 'em dry' by Lucille Bogan from 1935!
If the stones come to your area you two should go see them, you won't be sorry, they play hit after hit the whole show.
You and this song speak the truth. They got started up and never stopped.
And, as old dudes, they still ROCK!
Oooh! My favourite to dance to! 👏🏻👏🏻😍
This was the song the radio station in Richmond, Virginia used to notify people that Rolling Stones tickets had just opened up for sale for their 2-3 shows at the Hampton Coliseum in 1981/82. I believe tickets were around $12-$15 bucks a piece :) I raced up to the record store and bought tickets for their very last show of the tour. The show was festival seating (no seating on the floor....just open standing). The Hampton Coliseum is a 12,000 seat arena so compared to some of the other venues the Stones played at during that tour (80,000 seat football stadiums), this was a nice small venue with great views. We got about 20 feet from the stage and Mick floated over the crowd in a cherry picker. It was a great show.....opened up with "Under My Thumb". The previous days show was actually a birthday show for Keith Richards.....it was broadcast live on the local PBS television station. In fact, I think there is video of that show here on youtube.
What is really interesting is that I bought tickets for their very last show of that tour thinking they might break up and that we would never see another show from the Rolling Stones ever again....LOL. Jump to 2022, 40 years later, and the Stones are still touring!
Get it guys, Rolling Stones have so much great music..lovelovelove ❤️✌🏻🌸
The base line is killer!
Love it and never thought of it. The vocals like Bon Scott. So true
Brad & Lex..... Blow everyone's mind....4 black brothers with a white drummer created this ICONIC Masterpiece from the 60’s Psychedelic Era Trust me…. You do not want your life to end without hearing this song.
“TIME HAS COME TODAY“- The Chambers Brothers - Album Long version, then Live. PLEASE and Thank You. 1,595,589 views
so far. YOU will like it too
11 minute JAM.... this 50 yr old just looooves.
Absolute classic
Pity you didn’t react to the music video, very cool with Mick and the boys hamming it up
When the Stones tour. This is always their first song of the night
Waiting on a friend is a must.. lovelovelove ❤️🌸✌🏻
"That was quite the ending" 😂🤣
I've been podcasting 60s rooted music for 10 years plus. This was the very first song from the very first podcast.
This always reminds me of Windows 95 and my first Intel Pentium. Happy days.
I think The Stones' Start Me Up Tour in 1981 was the first concert to be sponsored. It was sponsored by Jovan perfume/cologne, a cheap, grocery store brand name. Jovan Musk was the name of the cologne I recall. Dunno if they still sell it.
Here is a wikipedia excerpt: In the beginning with the release of the Windows 95 operating system in 1995, the Microsoft company used the song for a marketing campaign. The ad highlighted the new Start menu, so the song fits the ad's theme.
Microsoft's Brad Silverberg, who was responsible for Windows 95, negotiated the use of the song. He reports that negotiations with the heads of the Rolling Stones were difficult until the end. Mick Jagger was initially reluctant to license the song for artistic reasons. Facing the $3 million deal, Keith Richards persuaded him to back down, and Start Me Up became the first Rolling Stones song to be used in a commercial. Best wishes @all from hamburg (germany)
What a catalogue the Stones have
I'm a metal head but always listened to the stones
I love this era Stones (Some girls, Tattoo you, Emotional rescue, Undercover) very under rated albums, late 70s, early 80s was my period as i grew up to enjoy music more, i wouldve been 14 when Undercover came out in 83
"Emotional Rescue" is among the most undervalued albums in all of music.
This was from the last album I ever bought from the Stones. Also had "Waiting for a Friend', another great song...
Yep, He went there
When you released this video, the Rolling Stones were playing a concert in Vienna. With Start Me Up in the setlist.
I can't believe you guys just now got to Start Me Up. That should have been one of the very first Stones songs you did.
I like the whole album with this song. Tattoo You from Start Me Up to Waiting on a Friend and between. Rock on Brad & Lex
That was funky kick ass rock n roll.Lex is so cute.
This album came out I was in 10th grade, When the Stones came to San Diego in October of 81 I was 16 and it was my first concert. The stadium opened the parking lot the night before. We partied all night and all the next day. What an introduction to a Rock and Roll show. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
How in the world did you guys avoid hearing such mega hits year after year? Amazing. I'm jealous of your journey.
They havent avoided hearing them its all a con, all these so called reactors are full of Crap and will do and say anything for a few Bucks. 😒
Start Me Up began its life years before its release in 81 as A reagge song they called Never Stop. There is one version of it on the reissued Tattoo You album with a bonus album of outtakes. Start Me Up was a Billboard #2 single from the #1 album Tattoo You. Huge American Tour supporting in in 81 and European Tour in 82. The album has sold over 7 million copies worldwide
"Quite the ending"! 🤣 Gotta love the Stones!
Brads face through this had me dying.
My sisters and laugh our asses over this video. You gotta see it to appreciate this song.
Needed the video for this one, for Jagger's moves and drummer Charlie Watts laughing at that!
I remember when this tune first came out. Still love it!
Great song ,makes you want to move! Amazing vocals from Mick!!!!
Iconic - I was privileged to be in the audience at the Isle of Wight festival in 2007 and saw them perform 'Start Me Up'. I was stood left of the runway, and it was awesome! There are videos of the 2007 Isle of Wight Festival on UA-cam. Before seeing them 'live' at the Isle of Wight festival, I always considered myself to be more of a Beatles fan, watching them perform live and the energy they created changed my mind - they were just amazing. As an extra bit of info, Amy Winehouse was there too, her set earlier in the afternoon was OK, but a little flat and lacklustre. She joined the Rolling Stones at the end of their set, and she came alive. Amy singing and performing with Mick Jagger is something I'll always remember.
I was there too! I grew up on the stones and it was really emotional seeing them live. Probably my favourite gig of all time.
Great Stones song!!! Thanks for doing it.
Should have done the video for this one. Absolute classic 👌
Been trying to get my ass up and moving this morning... thanks for the motivation.
Greetings and well wishes from Oregon 🌊🌲🖤
Edited because I don't proof read 🤓
It's from an lp. They were musicians. Then filmmakers eventually got hip and used their stuff.
Watching this with Cliff Richard on the TV on mute in the background is a surreal experience.
There's so many great Stone's numbers.
Takes me back to Windows 95 - that start of the Start button!
I street raced. I had a 69 Mach 1 SCJ black . It was loaded and had an 8track . I'd set this up before a light to light run ." Highway Star " was great for a highway run . Music and working the stick go very well together. Same with a girl ,but I never raced with a girl in the car , and treated them far better than my car . 😎
This was the theme song for WINDOWS 95! Microsoft paid $3Million to use this for the kickoff of Windows.
This is the NFL's kick-off music...at least the 1st riff & a start me up!! It is iconic!! 🏉🦵
Brad, write down Emotional Rescue. It's one of The Stones' well-known songs from the 1980 era.
It’s about a motorcycle racing talking about a kick starter racing in the heat races, oil, gasoline but could also have alternative meanings lol 😂
The original bad boys. Mick's moves are so much more fun to watch while listening to their music. 👍❤🤙
WHEN will I learn not to be eating something when Lex gives a first impression of a voice? HACK!!! There should be a compilation video of those.
Y'all need to check out Deftones already!!! Chino's voice is amazing and the bands is incredible. Change (In The House of Flies), Be Quiet and Drive, Passenger, You've Seen The Butcher, Sextape...so many great songs.
Lex - not sure if this is what you are thinking of but the beginning of this song was used in the HUGE ad campaign for Microsoft Windows 95 launch. It was everywhere, all the time!
I used to love the song when I was young 40 years later I asked myself why did I ever liked it
Thanks for the reaction guys !!
Fool To Cry is different than this BUT worth a reaction :)
Yes! I ask for this song every time I see a Stones reaction on any of the channels I watch. Haven't seen one yet.
The stones are untouchable
Mick Jagger has 8 kids from age 50 something to age 5. We gotta give a shoutout to ole Mick because the man has loved women of all colors and always taken care and raised all his kids, even now in his 70s's
You hear this and instantly start moving and at the same time say Stones.
cant believe you didn't watch the hilarious music video
This song was the last track on the Some Girls album and was cut last minute.
Actually forgotten fir a few years. Stones needed a filler song for the Tattoo You album. Keith remember (yes brain cells working) and the song was added--Thank God!!
THE drums!!!
You should do “B*tch” my favorite stones song. It’s great.
Excellent Summer Song.
