    I'm like that comedian who said, "I don't eat until I'm full. I eat until I hate myself." lol That's what it's like for me if I don't stick to keto. If I start eating a carb-heavy diet, I will start inhaling all the carbs until I'm stuffed. It's annoying, but it is a real thing.

      I have been low carb 11 years now. A diabetic friend will be doing fairly well, and then have just one little thing and it falls apart. Eating everything.
      I told her that for some people you have to think about high carb foods like an alcoholic thinks of alcohol. I made the wedding cake for my daughters wedding 10 years ago. I ate none. Because I knew where I would lead me. Not worth it.

    I know this is an older video, but yes Iodine is needed by every cell in the body and can help with so many things including Raynaud's syndrome and dry skin. I would suggest looking into Dr. Brownstein's work about iodine. Iodine deficiency also mimics hypothyroid. Love all Dr. Bikman's videos and I learn so much!

    On the hot/cold subject. As I've lost weight(70ish lbs) I'm definitely colder, but when I break my fast, 18-20hours, I get hot. By the time my meal is over I've taken of several layers.

    A calorie is a calorie is like saying water is water. Huge difference between clean water and dirty water just like clean calories and dirty calories.

    Thank you for asking about getting hot or getting cold. I am having increased hot flashes … it’s unpleasant… peri-menopause

    • @AnitaCorbett
      @AnitaCorbett 2 роки тому

      As belly fat is broken down the effect on your sex hormones alters
      The flashes should settle and your hormonal levels find a much happier healthier balance

      Peri menopause is about low estrogen. Try to fix the other things like insulin etc but in the end, the only thing that helped me was hrt and the transdermal patch. Oral estrogen can make you more insulin resistant. Go to Menopause Taylor on UA-cam. She discusses all the options but hrt is the only real fix. Soy etc doesn't do very much nor do the herbs or other supllements. I struggled with this too, the patch is excellent.

      72 here. I just lived with it and now have no difficulty at all. Was it unpleasant? Indeed it was. But it really is a process and eventually I got through it. Much better on the other side.

      So you get hot and sweat a bucket. Big deal. Take a towel around with you.
      I didn't take anything for it. Good diet and exercise reduced the frequency and eliminated night sweats.

    What about oestrogen vs progesterone in post menopausal women

    • @AnitaCorbett
      @AnitaCorbett 2 роки тому +1

      Very strongly linked to insulin ‼️
      I would love Dr Bikman to discuss insulin vs all the sex hormones and the thyroid

    • @iss8504
      @iss8504 2 роки тому +1

      If you are less than 10 years in menopause, Oral estrogen known to cause insulin resistance. I had a horrible time with this until i switched to the transdermal patch. Was low carb and when i started the pill, i had carb cravings that drove me crazy. I also gained 15 pounds despite being low carb and omad. Had my thyroid meds increased, still no change. On the patch, zero cravings and back on track with my low carb life. Weight lost within 2 weeks. If you can tolerate it, best to use the vaginal ring to avoid oral estogen unpleasant effects on weight.
      Look at Menopause Taylor on UA-cam. She has a thorough breakdown on this. She is vegan, so I don't bother with her food advice. Tried that for a long time and it made me unwell. But the hrt information is excellent. But only if u are less than 10 years into menopause. More and estrogen might be harmful to you.

    It would appear thus that eating low nutrition food would require more energy expenditure. So maybe high fiber diets help with weight loss?

  • @timesofourlives5642

    So in order to build muscle, you need some insulin? Would that mean that keeping insulin way low is not good for muscle growth? Or does the protein that’s eaten cause just the right insulin spike?

    • @JN-or1zr
      @JN-or1zr 3 роки тому

      Protein does not cause insulin spike.

    • @AnitaCorbett
      @AnitaCorbett 2 роки тому +2

      Muscle growth is linked to growth hormone - which is a separate pathway
      Insulin is active but can be raised by protein not carbs
      What is being promoted is keeping insulin low which in the past was the normal state of the body
