love my v6 120! Have had it since earlier this year, it's really been growing on me. Brilliant for highway cruising, super smooth and comfy and power when you need it for overtaking. Normally get around 15-17L/100 short trips around town and 12-13L/100 highway when loaded
@@odinnbjo4530 in australia the v6 are all petrol 1gr-fe and the diesels came as a 4cyl turbo 1kz and later 1kd. 1gr also found in fj cruiser, hilux and tacoma
cant wait to see this thing cleaned and finished. every new video motivates me to work on my car and get it finished so I can finally drive it. keep up the hard work man
I’ve got a 120 series Prado and just put a supercharger on it. Mate I 💯 recommend you do it. The kit was $6500 and installed myself, exhaust re tuned, this insane now.
the lc120 prado is great and the v6 4.0ltr 1gr.fe is a great motor. but needs a bit of maintenance to keep it sorted. the motor is all alloy and needs a good coolant system so get the coolant system checked out and change the coolant. there are 2 block drain's behind the exhaust manifold that you need to drain the coolant out of when doing the coolant system. spark plugs are something that should be changed if you don't know when they were last done. change the engine oil and remove the oil pan from the block so that you can see the oil pick up inside, remove the oil pick up if the screen is not clear or partly blocked and use some solvent and a brush to clean the suction screen and reinstall it. it's very important that it is checked out at lest once by you so you know because if the oil pressure light comes on when driving it's usually means it's to late. every 100k it should be looked at. keep the oil service every 5/6k. rear brake pads also wear out more than the front because they are smaller. the map sensor might want a clean and behind the glove box is a cabin filter for the AC.
Can’t think you enough for this information! Will absolutely be doing each one of these things to make sure the v6 stays healthy for many years to come 😁
@@itsmikelake also something that might be helpful is for the electric windows to work properly after that battery has been disconnected or ones not working properly. start at the drivers door switch (4 buttons ) and open and close the drivers window but hold it up in the close position for 4 sec . then go to each other door and do the same thing now they should all be able to be controlled by the drivers door and the auto should work, make sure not to turn off the ignition switch when you are doing this.

Just bought a diesel 120 grande. Only mine has just 150k on the clock. However, like your's the airbags were bad. Don't waste time with the airbags. Bilstein/Kings make a 2" lift and coil spring conversion for the back. Throw that in and put 50mm spring spacer in the back too. We just did 1000km in mine last week on hols and it's heaps better. Enjoy.
watch out with massive steel bullbars these tend to crack the front aprons after you drive on corrugations for a bit. Rear door sags and doesn't close properly but there's spacers you can get for the lower hinge. These are pretty heavy so the front control arm bushes and ball joints do wear out a bit. Have one since new in 05, 260k kms and only mechanical failure was the starter motor, the rest just service items.
Cheers for the advice! She’s got brand new lower control arms in her now. The rear diff is a little noisy which I’ll address soon. I’m interested to see the weight difference with the stock bull bar and the new one
There was a recall on the rear door for a replacement update door and if you are looking for them the are called update doors , mine was replaced last year after accident

We got a 2014 Prado Kakadu last year, didn't think it would be as good as my Camry for long drives, but damn does it have a good ride. Keen to see this build. Interesting, in Melbourne too, and know Knox carpets and they don't list carpet for the gen 4 (2001) Camry which is a shame.
Lol I was just as surprised to find the old school stacker under the seat of our 120 Grande. FYI if you remove it, the bracket that holds it in perfectly houses an under seat powered sub ;)

Knox Auto Carpets are good for cars like the Zed. But the Prado...you should have just got a new factory carpet from Toyota. It will be moulded and fit 100%. Will have all the holes where that need to be. And will have the underlay fitted. Not that expensive either. Knox Auto Carpets fit is about 80-85%. And no holes. Hope you show people that.
