What a cool little project! I love small projects that help build skills...thanks for the great video.
Best thing that's ever happened to a normally dormant piece of rebar yet seen.
Another one of the many legacies you've built, and taught to the viewer to build, that will outlive them all... Placin them kinda things left behind from the hand... Priceless.

That's a cool idea. I just got to use my forge for the first time yesterday and now I'm looking forward to getting it out again and trying this.
Another really awesome build!
cool quick build thanks for sharing Dave.
This is one of ny favorite forging videos by you! Great job!
i'm impressed this is one of the things i'd like to make in metal working great job DAVE
Nice work Dave!
Another awesome video :) Thankyou!
Cool, might be my second project if I ever finish my little forge.
Another cool project!
Now that is a bullet proof slingshot. I like that idea. Thanks for the how-to video
Awesome video. Thanks
That was cool we had a wrists rocket as a kid lots of fun . this is super cool Dave thanks
Thanks,
Clark
Looks like it could also double as a pot handle too.
What a cool project Dave. From my experience, you will have much more stability if your fork arms are about half as long
I have got to make one of those. Doubt I'll be able to use it that accurately though.
I like the fact that the only thing that can break on this, is easily fixed. Not a bunch of plastic parts on this one.
I also like the fact that you could , if you want, easily fasten this slingshot to your belt or pack. Just take a toggle and tie to your belt or pack with a simple lark's head knot. Then simply put the toggle through the bottom end loop of the slingshot. Quick, dirty and yet another reason to carry some toggles.
hey thats cool.i started my sons and daughter out making nails. you have to make the header first. so, there you have bending, upsetting, and punching.then with the actual nail you have drawing, heading and cutting. I allways thought to get as many techniques as you can while staying as simple as possible. I like the slingshot. I'm gonna show the kids tomorrow. thanx.
wonder if you could hook up your sling bow on one of those?
Pretty nice. I built myself a wrist rocket out of the rack from a commercial refrigerator. I used the thicker frame of the rack, must have been 1/4 or 3/8. I was able to make the bends by hand. I used some old truck tire inner tube for the band's. I wrapped the grip with some leather boot lace and attached the band with bailing wire. it worked great! to bad I lost it in a move.
that's a great video keep going men
I like the frame ,I could adapt for flat bands my preferred shooting bands!
Hey Dave, first of all I am a huge fan of yours and enjoy all of your videos. I was wondering if you had a video, or could make one if you have the time, of some of your favorite traditional muzzleloaders or just firearms in general. I know that you're a very busy guy and if this isn't possible I understand. I hope to take one of your classes in the near future. Thanks for all you do brother.
Dave well you have done it again----you are great. Remember its the little things that the common man can do himself that make a difference. Did you build your forge yourself & if you did that might be a great video also. Also love the fork vid.
Very cool project Dave. Might we see a limited quantity of these at SRO for sale?
that is some awesome slingshot cant see that breaking in no hurry.
you might want to experiment with shorter/ narrower forks, joerg sprave from the slingshot channel has some interesting slingshot designs, mainly the rambone
Why do you periodically pound the mallet on the anvil after a few blows when trying to shape the steel?
you could also use hairspray to glue those bands onto the steel pins. just a single spray on each pin will make it adhere once it dries. if you do this and want to remove the bands, just soak it in water with a little dish soap in it.
this is a little trick used to glue grips on motorcycle bars
great idea, added to my list after a draw knife.
What vhen i welded one from tubes, will it be strength
what do you use with your slingshots, other than arrows for your sling bow? Just rocks, or do you make your own lead shot?
Hi, are you still selling the heavy duty bands? Thanks
Please sell those at your store great idea
Hi, Dave I've watched hours of your videos and have gained or refreshed many skills. thanks
do you remember or have you seen slingshot shotgun shells?
made from craft paper (stiff) little box with a lid, when lid catches air it releases 5-10 bb's. I got these with a slingshot when I was a kid and then made some of my own. 1inx1inx1in folded no glue with a little lip. tell me what you think.
nice video but try to make one with a lower fork ,less strain on the wrist and less weight as well.
unreal, I'm a big fan of the Shanghai.
and been making them for years.
yes your upright were to long and to wide. I use the framing out of a bicycle seat.
and hand spear rubber.
don't really need to heat it up. should be able to bend it just in the vice.
and a good paracord handle.. and if you bend the end of the Shanghai frame just at the end .towards you you can make a paracord wrist brace
so... that's actually only 5 paces. Dave y taught me that on your navigation series... I know you just misspoke as it was from you that I gained the knowledge.
your point or are you just trying to convince yourself you not stupid pointless nit pick of the ever
I think the more clearance or wider the v the more accurate the slingshot.
But the best ammo is a bucket of river rocks.
? But the best slingshots have a wrist brace that cause's you to be more accurate because stronger bands cause's you to torq your wrist and miss.
kool man
Since, natural rubber grows on trees, you could try to plant some rubber trees on your property. Then you can make your own rubber. But you need sulphur too.
you should bring the bottom around into a bend for a wrist brace.
I want to see you fab a yakatori grill.
i find rebar whereever i travel
your forks should be lower twords your hand so there would be less strain on your wrist
I don't know if you can talk about it, but if you can, what happened to dirty rotten survival?
+isaac thill Nat Geo sold much of it's assets 70+% to Fox News, Programming changes are taking place and most if not all first season shows were not renewed for a 2nd season-
+wildernessoutfitters dang that's sad, I loved the show. at least we still have the awesome videos.
+wildernessoutfitters I hope to see you on another show soon. The whole family loves your shows and channel. God Bless from Texas.
+wildernessoutfitters hope to see you on another show some day in the future :)
+isaac thill Too bad... I liked that show!!!
Is that a "Left or Right" Handed Slingshot? LOL LOl Lol lol
That sucks about "DRS"_____ television execs always make the wrong choice. The idiots did the same thing with the "The Green Hornet" They had one of the biggest superstars in the whole world "Bruce Lee", and the idiots let him go...TV execs are stupid! DRS was quite entertaining, you always made it look so easy, great work Dave. Just would also like to say the new season of Dual Survival is a joke those two are more like the movie Dumb and Dumber. Too bad the execs did see they had a superstar in Dave.
quick n dirty lol
