    I use a 3 way mirror (3 mirrors all in one), sit down on a cushion or blanket, relax and watch a few movies whilst re-tightening. I part my hair into 4 sections and try to do a section a day over 4 days.
    Lately I've become really lazy, my last re-tightening took over 1 week. I simply stop when I'm tired or can't be bothered to carry on as I found I would make silly mistakes when I forced it (knots, joining two together, crossing the grid)etc. One lady told me that she re-tightens her whole head in a few hours (2 movies), but for some reason retightening 1 section takes me aprox 7hrs. So either I am extremely slow or doing something wrong! But then again I am a perfectionist and makes sure that I get 'every' strand retightened.
    As PR.Charles says, sisterlocks are supposed to be stress free, so take your time, stop when you need to (finish the row that you started first though) and relax :) :)

    Thank you for the video. Tip for those who want to retighten: I find making use of small metal hair clips to separate individual locs helps prevent accidentally joining locs.

    You are Heaven-sent, honey. I took my retightening class in Atlanta about two months ago because we were on our way to Johannesburg, South Africa. There are no certified consultants here. As far as we know, the closest consultants are in Kenya. Anyway, needless to say, I freaked out when I combined a couple of locks...ugh!!! Thank you for sharing what to do and letting us know not to freak out. #ItsPartOfTheProcess

    I currently don't need a mirror to re-tighten, but that may change as my hair gets longer. I just feel around and take my time. I make sure I can feel all four sides of the loc before doing a rotation. I have been re-tightening my hair for about 6 months, and it has gone really well.

    Thanks for another informative video. You mentioned loc maturity? My question is how do you know when your locs are matured? I've had my locs for 2 1/2 yes.

    • @PRCharles
      @PRCharles  7 років тому +1

      Depending on hair type. You should be in the mature stage unless you have a wavy loose curly texture. Those with kinkier hair types can have mature locs 18+ months or more. My son has mature (adult) locs. His is interloc'd and he's been loc'd going on 3 years. No slippage etc. Hair is matted except 2 inches from scalp. His hairline is palm rolled the rest is interloc'd. Hope this helps and thanks for sharing ☺️

    Thanks for sharing, your journey & experience with us!!! I've been natural for going on 10 years, & have reached all my hair goals. I've consider getting sisterloc's in the past. But now I'm certain, however confused. What's the difference between the method of interlocking, microlocks, and sisterloc's?

    • @PRCharles
      @PRCharles  7 років тому +1

      Great question +Knightly Rose! There are all interlocked locs. Differing locking patterns (weaving...better yet...intertwining of the hair or loc strands) abounds. They each have their different grid placement and can vary in loc sizing. Micro locks are smaller than traditional interlock or palm rolled locs....you know what the lines are so blurred now and people mix and match or piece meal the positives of the systems. Sisterlocks showcase fine (small) locs on a "specialized grid" where the parting can be similar to that of parted loose hair for styling. Microlocks can be the sizes of sisterlocks (not on same grid) and larger but not as large as the traditional size locs everyone is so used to thinking of when talking about locs. aka the big ones. I have seen these on diagonal grids, layered brick grids and circular grids, even pineapple grids. Don't ask. Depends on what consultant feels and client wants. Interlocking is just the interlocking of the hair strands to form a stable loc. There are many patterns to interlocking the hair. Some produce a round loc or flat loc. The placement of the loc is the grid. It can get pretty deep. Google and look at pics to see the different sizes, and fall/flow of the locs beyond installation to get a feel for the difference. If one had microlocks and sisterlocks of the same size it would be hard to tell the difference from afar. But if a consultant looked in the scalp she/he would know by the grid if it was sisterlocks or not. SL endorses a distinct grid(s). Hope this helps some. I probably caused more questions of concern. LOL. Thanks for sharing and being patient with the. ☺️

    Thank you for the great video! Very informative. As usual, your locks are stunning, and I love the hairstyle! I have a question about grooming. I understand its not your standard washing, conditioning or retightening but rather a process in which the locks are manicured for a more polished and uniformed look. Would you please post a video describing and possibly demonstrating the techniques and tools you use in grooming your locks. Thank you!

      Telaia S

    • @PRCharles
      @PRCharles  7 років тому

      Actually +Telaia it's all of the above. It is a distinct process to achieve fine (small) locs. However, the maintenance of washing, conditioning, caring, loving, and retightening them in a timely manner fosters the polished uniform look. Installation is one thing and maintenance is another. The techniques as far as retightening or installing, I am not at liberty to share (SL consultant contract) but how I condition, style etc I can share. Thanks for asking and sharing. I hope this helps ☺️

    Was there a point in your journey where you went a long periods of time in between retigtens. Or just forget to relighting them

    • @PRCharles
      @PRCharles  7 років тому +3

      Hey +Shanna Franklin. Oh wow Yes. When I became a consultant yes there were times I kept procrastinating with my hair. Trust me there was neglect. In the very beginning of my SL journey my consultant was very busy. I went 3 months without retightening. But my hair was only 4-5 inches at that time. Yes I have forgotten to retighten sections due to taking long to get back to retightening and realizing I had to start over. The parts skipped before had mad work to be done. As your hair goes through different length stages, you'll notice the how the extended periods between refights have a different effect on your locs or roots coupled with seasons, climate and grooming habits. Hope this helps. Great question. Thanks for sharing 😀

    • @PRCharles
      @PRCharles  7 років тому +3

      Hey +byoung4eva1 good question. The point was to set up a standardized system of learning and application of the techniques (if these techniques) bore the name Sisterlocks. Yes interlocking has been around for ages. However, SL has brought to mass appeal and awareness tiny style-able locs through it's packaging and marketing. You can find interlocking info on line and through other learning modalities. One isn't slotted to learn it solely from SL. I chose to represent SL as a practitioner therefore I learned their methods and techniques and systems of evaluation of the hair. I wanted their perspective on loc'd hair and it required paying to unlock that info...hence signing a contract to not share their proprietary packing of the information...not sharing freely came along with the deal. Thanks for asking and sharing 😃

      😳😳😳😳 You couldn't find anything on my channel presently amongst 166 videos? No washing? No styling? Nothing? It's true I do talk a lot. That's my contribution to youtube land. The beauty of youtube is that one can tune into the channels they love and like and not entertain, or trouble themselves with the ones that annoy them. My videos are substandard to your liking. I appreciate your honesty and can fully live with that. How about creating a channel that you'd like to see? It would help the community tremendously. I agree to disagree respectfully to your perspective. 😳😳😳 I'm still baffled. You still couldn't find anything?? Yep substandard. It doesn't serve you any value.
