    I think it would've been cooler, if everytime he met with 'GOD', he would have a different face, look, identity. Just to drive home the fact that he could be anyone anywhere, from a homeless man, to a nurse etc.

      That show already exists. It's from the early 2000's and is called "Joan of Arcadia" - God shows up to a sixteen year old girl as different (but sometimes recurring) persons (an old lady, a cute boy, a mail man, an electrician, a little girl, a goth boy, a street guitarist, a homeless man, a doctor, a garbage man etc.) and asks her to do different things that make no sense to her at all. But in the end what she does always has some kind of influence on the people around her and creates something good. Sometimes she's able to see the influence, sometimes she doesn't.

      If that something special stems from something that is false, it isn’t worth holding onto and should be let go and discarded. Christianity and organized religion have only brought more pain, suffering, and division into this world. Christianity gives people false hope and a false sense of security. No god exists and no god is looking out for them. People need to believe in themselves and stop putting their faith in a fairytale.

      @@flightoftheagitator386 Christianity has not brought pain at all religion has however the two are diametrically opposed to one another.
      Religion tries to steal and copy and mimic Christianity and changes into something wicked and disgusting
      Christianity is the polar opposite of religion.
      Real Christianity is just faith and trust in someone who loves you and who wants to save you that's what real Christianity is it has nothing to do with a bunch of rules and regulations.
      Everything in those institutions that people go to is not Christianity they don't teach Christianity they teach rules and regulations and condemnation and it is nothing more than self-righteousness
      Christianity is the polar opposite it revolves around someone outside of another person it's all about what Jesus does for you about him being there for you about his love and him dying for you to save you and Rising again.
      Real Christianity is always about God's love for you because he cares about you whether you believe that or not.

      Agreed. The idea of "heaven" and "hell" as a construct is powerful to me in it's own right. If you do good things chances are you will find yourself in a happier place mentally and will live in that... Live your life in "sin"... And you will find yourself in your own personal "hell" until you yourself die, unless you make it right in your own mind "salvation"... And we do all exist in eternity... Matter cannot be created or destroyed... And we do choose how we transition back into that great eternity from where we came at the end.... It's a strange way of looking at things for me.

At the end of the day, god is just the manifestation of humanity’s desire to belief in something greater than themselves even if that belief is built on lies and willful ignorance. "He said (booming space voice that shook reality)"
      It was a dream. That's literally as far away from reality as you can get. Also, what does that even mean? Are you saying his speech warps space time? So when God produces sound waves, they have enough gravity to bend space-time? You have a mechanism from which that is possible?

      these comments are harsh. its amazing that He spoke with you in your dream. the world IS perfect in God's eyes, most people don't understand that, and what it means. • @sign543
      @sign543 5 років тому +9

      grace eubank Those are nice thoughts, and I have no problem with people believing whatever they want. But...you also should allow for disagreement, and also expect that others with different beliefs will respond, especially when they have personal experience from people who do believe what you believe who have treated them badly BASED on their beliefs. I’ve been told personally that I am going to hell, as if that person were God and had all the answers. They often make the statement with apparent glee, as if they are hoping that’s the case. It’s difficult to find a Christian these days who doesn’t behave and talk as if they have all the answers. You claim that God made the world perfect, and that people don’t understand this...but I don’t see how you can say you understand it, except that you just claim that you do. Based on what? Yes, the comments may seem harsh, but I firmly believe that if you are making extraordinary claims, you ought to back it up with extraordinary evidence. Anecdotal “God spoke to me” isn’t sufficient, because any nut can claim some deity or other supernatural being spoke to them. It’s an easy claim to make. Not all people share in your beliefs...and that they disagree has nothing to do with you, personally...yet I often find Christians who think or find it offensive if people don’t “respect” the Christian faith. It’s just one of thousands of spiritual paths. It deserves no more respect than any other. It’s a chosen path...and I don’t impugn those who choose it, unless they then go further and use that religion to try to legislate those beliefs into things we must do. Or if you use those beliefs to judge others because they don’t believe them. Sorry this is long...but I just felt an urge to respond to your remark that these comments are harsh. This is the Internet. People are going to be pretty frank when speaking or responding. Nobody is calling anyone names, as far as I read. But making jokes about what someone says, especially when it’s totally not what someone else believes...should be expected.

So far in conversations with hundreds of theists I've never seen one prove a god exists. I hear the same bad arguments over and over, but never any actual evidence of a god. So I _absolutely_ believe that people believe in god because it _FEELS GOOD_ but it doesn't seem like anyone believes because they have a good reason to.

    I've read some genuinely interesting things with premises very similar to this (I forget the name but one story took place between an atheist and God on a train) that actually attempt to tackle the complex philosophical and scientific problems surrounding the god question without vilifying either side. So when I first heard that a movie like this was in development, I was hoping for something intellectually stimulating that might start more conversations about religion and whatnot. With that said, based on the first question posed to god in this trailer and its subsequent answer, this movie looks like it is probably being made for audiences that enjoyed the God is Not Dead trilogy and find "God works in mysterious ways" to be a sufficient and satisfying answer to questions directed at religion. Furthermore quotes from the trailer like "I'd like to talk to you about salvation" and "bout time God made the front page, you disagree?" make it pretty clear that this movie isn't attempting to take a neutral or even subtle stance on the subject matter. I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but the plot looks like an atheist with a shit/troubled life meets god and his life turns around, unambiguously pushing a theme of "believe in God and your life will get better".

      Have you seen the movie about Lee Strobel or read his book, "A Case for Christ," about his journey from atheist to Christian? I think that it would be much more intellectually stimulating for you as he is a Harvard graduate and was an investigative reporter at the beginning of his journey. At least the book should be. There is one scene in the movie that emphasizes the validity of the Bible as a historical document as compared to others. It was fascinating to me! I absolutely cringe when I hear ignorant Christians say that "God works in mysterious ways" or "God is in control" or "You just never know what God is doing or going to do." I have read the Bible over a dozen times and several translations, and I haven't come across any of these "sayings." Blessings to you, Friend! star@youwillwantto.com

    Everything you need to know is already in the Bible. The problem is, nobody reads it, or they don't agree with what it says. People worry about unanswered prayers. He said he doesn't answer prayers to covenant breakers. If you have unrepented sin in your life He won't answer. If you ask something not in His will, he won't answer. The covenant is, Make Him first and give up your fleshly life for His life. You are His hands an feet here on earth. How many are doing these things? How many even care enough to read and study His Word? The average Christian doesn't even go to church anymore. They don't want to be in His presence. Then they hit Him with a laundry list of things that would make their life better. Compare that to an apostle that left their wives and families to go on the road to do his will, worked their whole lives, and then were executed for doing it.
    He says He created the world in 6 days and then rested. Most Christians twist themselves into a pretzel trying to fit the world's evolution into the Biblical 6 days. In Exodus, God repeated He created the world in 6 days and then rested, but we still thing God is a liar. Then we asked to be blessed. Romans 1 tells us if we don't accept Him as creator, He will give us over to a reprobate mind. The first topic after that is homosexuality. 68% believe in gay marriage yet there are 80% of America is Christian. Someone is lying. 65 million dead babies isn't enough, and we ask Him why the world is so bad.
    It's all there in the Bible, but we don't bother to read it let alone study it. Most of us have seen a miracle, yet we can't figure out why they don't happen all the time. We know the apostles raised the dead and cured lepers, but we think an occasional trip to church should get the same results. We take prayer and Bible reading out of school and act surprised when the shooting starts.
    It would be more interesting to interview a student that lived through the shooting and ask them if they would trade abortion and gay marriage to keep from getting shot. The same kids that have a deacon or a preacher for a father get drunk, knock up their girlfriend, and kill people in a DWI and wonder why God is so mean.
    1John 2:7 tells us he writes no new commandment. We have had the same commandments for thousands of years, yet we don't like them and won't follow them and then cry about our lot in life. He has promised us eternal life, but that doesn't seem to be a good enough draw to change our minds. As it was in the days of Noah and Lot, will signal Jesus coming back to earth. That will be very bad for most of the planet. In Noah's time was evil and murder. IN Lot's time was sodomy out of control. EACH TIME THE JUDGEMENT OF GOD CAME DOWN ON US. God never changes.
    Now, what else would you ask God? The answers are there as they have been for thousands of years.

      Eph 3:5 which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets:
      The Bible is so accurate, you can learn the original translation and follow the meanings and know exactly what will happen and exactly what did happen.
      The problem arise when a man THINKS he knows what he just read or heard. Without the Holy Spirit, you cannot know what God is telling you.
      An atheist can read the Bible word for word and not have a clue what was just said.
      When you are in the presence of God, He will personally give you revelation of what He has written to you.

      Because of god there is better quality of life? Hardly. That’s just a self-comforting sentiment that fundamentalist use to reassure themselves that their fictitious god exists and that he favors them. Humans determine their own quality of life based on individual choices and actions. God is a man-made construct designed to fulfill a specific purpose. There are two types of Christian movies: ones like Silence and ones like God's Not Dead. One of those is a well crafted character study about a man struggling with faith. One of them is a shallow movie with no themes where Christians tell people to believe in God by being annoying and the non-Christians for no reason convert in order to help the movie's agenda.
    I desperately hope this movie falls in the former category.

    • @project_disciple
      @project_disciple 3 роки тому +2

      This life is absolutely not a test because there is absolutely no part of any test if there were one that involves getting into heaven that we as human beings would be able to pass because according to the word of God all have sin and come short of the glory of God none of righteous no not one. His words not mine. So this life is not a test God is not watching us to see if we're good enough to get into heaven he's not a play director watching us audition to see if we're going to be good enough to get a spot in the finale that is heaven nobody could act that good only Jesus Christ has ever been good enough and righteous enough and holy enough and perfect enough to claim that accomplishment. So anybody any person that has a fleshly body that inhabits a soul that was created by God was actually created for the sole purpose of communing and walking with God and loving God and taking care of this beautiful world that he created but we failed at that in the garden and if it hadn't been Adam and Eve and we had got a second third or fourth chance we would have still done the same thing that brought in the tea between us and God and eternally made it where every human being born is Born into sin or iniquity so we have no hope of getting into heaven except only through Jesus Christ and his sacrifice on the cross thanks to our Father God Yahweh sending him yes his only begotten son everybody knows John 3:16 but it's not just some common verse it's a very powerful verse and the verse following it John 3:17 is equally as powerful for God sent his son into the world not to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved. So nothing we got through in this life is any kind of test to see if we're good enough and like I said it's not God watching us to see if we're going to trip and fall so you can cast us in the hell God does not want a single person to perish that's why he gave his only begotten son to suffer that horror and go to hell in our place and rise again go back home to heaven and prepare a place for us his mind and his heart is always consumed by us these broken cursed sinful human beings is the most important thing to our father God in heaven and his son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit that inhabits every person that saved. He wants nothing more than for us to be saved and make it to heaven and it's not about how perfect we are it's about our heart that's why God says no one can judge us except him because he knows our heart now people can see us in our actions and be fruit inspectors to see if we're bearing any Christian fruit but they can't literally judge us between heaven and hell but he can because he knows our heart and if we are saved and we go by our convictions and what the word of God says and we try to live by that to the best of our ability according to our ability and what's in our heart that's what he judges not how many mistakes we made because once we're saved those sins are covered past present future as long as we accept it unless sin becomes a habit and then becomes rebellion which to God is like witchcraft which will separate us from him and eternal life in heaven so it's all about his love for us and US accepting his gift of salvation that's the only thing that matters and then from that point on trying to live as best we can to please him and live a sin-free life as best as we can according to our ability and our convictions and don't worry about what anybody else says or does only know that he sees our hearts and our true intentions that's all that matters so as long as we're honest with ourselves and God we will be just fine if we're saved there is no audition or test sorry for the novel I can get long winded and preachy LOL

      @@project_disciple how do you define doing your best? Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, and not through works and not through trying, it's a free gift of grace. If there were any sort of scale at all we would all perish, you've said that yourself. So there can't be an "if you try your "best"" to follow God because that's still a measurement and we would fail infinitely to imitate God's character by any measure. No one can snatch you from His hand, not even yourself, you are sealed by the Holy Spirit for eternity. @@project_disciple We are mostly on the same page, I agree. But I don't think God considers doing our very best to be perfection because our good works are like filthy rags, like you said. I think God looks at us and sees the covering of Christ's sacrifice instead of seeing our brokenness and that that is the perfection that we need to be saved. Romans 1:5 and 16:26 speak of the obedience of faith. Having saving faith is the same as being in obedience to God. It will need to be done, to cure humanity of hatred and bigotry...and when that day finally arrives, I will feel wonderful knowing that my children will never be forced into blind indoctrination; I will be happy knowing that if it happens within my life time, that I can die and know that humanity will one day be at peace.

Just think about the church shooting with Dylan Roof. The bombing of abortion clinics. Those burned alive during the Salem witch trials. And yet, despite these incidents and other acts of violence that were religiously motivated, people still cover their ears and shout that religion had nothing to do with it.
