Yeri said she wasn't feeling good while filming killing voice which is why she was so serious

Yes, I think she was ill and also she was suffering from lower back pain the entire promotions to a point she has to visit the hospital to take injections for it. Poor girl.

Nice reaction and review! I think you had some good analysis on their voices. Joy has been known to run out of energy faster than the others, and she has mentioned it as well, and yeah it seemed like she lost a bit of energy during the middle then brought it back near the end, but I think she did a good job keeping up until the end. Whereas Wendy on the other hand just has like unlimitted energy even with all the highnotes she has to sing, in concerts she'll be dancing full on and still doing all her adlibs w/o missing a note all the way until the end, don't know how so much energy comes out from such a small body XD Also, I think maybe you didn't get to hear much of Seulgi because Killing Voice only highlights the killing parts of their discography which is generally when Wendy goes off and mainly the choruses, but I think she still got to showcase her range and timbre. Overall they all definitely killed it, bops after bops

SM’s no live singing policy is pissing me off 😭 Especially since it seems like they let them sing live but only on random occasions (ÆSPA Spicy stages were allowed to be live but now their new comeback (and every other SM comeback for that matter) isn’t so it seems like it’s really random)
(Also you’re right, they really didn’t give good parts for Seulgi in the killing voice they mostly picked the verse 1 of their songs for this and it’s usually Wendy in Verse 1 and Seulgi doing the same part in verse 2)

Your wife is right and she has great taste! Hahahaha Zimzalabim enjoyer, best use of classical music sample in a pop song - AMEN. I have a pretty big music background as a concert music instrumentalist primarily, and I was sooooo skeptical and anticipating a song I would hate when I very first started listening to Feel My Rhythm for the first time. To my own complete shock it was incredible, and I found myself crying by the end of the first watch of the MV - wow.
Anyway - Wendy is incredible. Chill Kill is amazing, but for some people the duality of the song is a challenge. It is directly the concept of the song, though - and I believe it is executed perfectly. Wendy described the concept on her Lee Mujin Service episode - if you haven't watched it yet, she says that a Chill Kill is a "bright tragedy" and that the song (and MV) represents the duality of hopefulness and tragedy. You can see it in the MV narrative and hear it in the song so clearly as well. The final chorus is different also in the vocals - beyond the typical ad libs - they layer the two sections of the chorus, the "what a chill kill" and "don't think about tomorrow" are overlapping and it is SO satisfying!
I do agree that one thing I really love about Red Velvet is the unique vocal color that EACH member has, and the way that they sound when those colors come together in their group singing is just magical. The fact that they sound so unique to each other is so charismatic and allows a song to feel even more interesting as they are featured in different sections. Thank you for appreciating Irene as a rapper - she really does give he right energy and vibe when she raps and is really good at it. It seems like it doesn't suit her elegant style, but when you see her delivering it just is perfect, right? Also, Wendy is my bias - welcome welcome. haha

If I'm not mistaken, they have 2 radio performances for this chill kill comeback... with 2 guys and a woman dj respectively.

Sua from Dreamcatcher said recently that Wendy & Seulgi hung out with Dreamcatcher in their dressing room. I guess they got a long famously.

One thing about Wendy's voice is that I don't really credit SM with training her "into" what her voice is today. Her predebut videos with her singing are incredible, and she only trained for 2 years (shortest of all of Red Velvet). I think maybe that might impact what you said about how she isn't as "SM" ish of a vocalist? I personally think one thing SM does really well is finding talented vocalists and training them in other skills until they can dance and be on stage and look pretty as well as sing.
