- Join me in discovering the Legacy Drive by Carvin. This pedal is designed to be a traveling companion for Mr. Vai and to give him his sound on the go. I test it with a Torpedo CAB, with its own DI out, into the FX Return of an amp, with pedals etc...

Very glad to hear someone mention the violin-esque sound. I have the VL100 head and for years I've been telling people it sounds like a violin. It's a beautiful sound-very vocal and expressive. I'm certain Steve was actually intending it to sound like a violin.

This pedal can do it all really. Maybe not chugga chugga djenty metal but heavy classic metal and rock....I am impressed! I have a Bel Air 2X12 combo and simply love the clean tone. This VLD1 still retains that beautiful Carvin clean. Love it!
When I think of Carvin preamp I think Quad-X.
Nice to hear the pedal with someone besides Vai playing it. It gives a truer representation of the pedal for what it sounds like.Though I love Vai's playing on the DLR and Alcatrazz records,he has an inherently high end sound.I feel like he could have a treble knob going counter clockwise to -10 and it would still be piercing.Thanks for the demo.

I owned a Carvin Legacy version one for years and there was no fizz at all, this preamp sounds simular in some ways but has a nasty fizz that the amp didnt have. Love the video btw thanks for a good quality review
Throw back Tuesdays, I miss the Diamond plate display area. It goes so well with Diamond wipes , inarguably the finest of visual transitions.
