Hello Bitches was choreographed and directed by Parris Goebel who is a major name in the dance community! CL's first full English solo is 'Lifted' and her first solo ever was waaaayyyy back in 2013 when she was still with 2NE1 and it was called "The Baddest Female". Off of 2NE1's last album, CRUSH, CL had a solo called MTBD which goes hard!

It is crazy to think that Hello Bitches was six years ago. We have a pretty clear divide now between artist CL and idol CL. 2ne1 songs that show her flavor the best imho are Come Back Home and Goodbye, although 2ne1 was like cultural reset after cultural reset. She wrote their disbandment song, and even tho it’s devastating the m/v is so good at capturing the how it felt when they were at the top. She actually did release an EP pretty quickly after she was released from YG management. It was a lot of songs she had written and never given to YG. Earlier this year she released a tribute track for her mom who passed away from cancer.
So she’s been out here, but Hwa and 5-star got a lot more traction than anything else she’s released in years. Even Lifted didn’t do that well, YGE released it three days after BLACKPINK’s debut

CL does write her songs. She also wrote a few songs for 2NE1, her group back then even tho people love to discredit her. One of her first verses was on The Leaders with GD and Teddy before 2NE1 even debuted.
And you're right, there's no one like her. I think her goal has always been to offer a different representation for asian women in mainstream media, far from the stereotypical one people usually have, especially in the west. She was truly YG's biggest star back then. Her and 2NE1 were charting on billboard and getting invited for big events, collabing with big names before kpop was huge overseas. She even performed at the Olympics. But YG truly tried to sabotage her career. Yet she came back stronger than ever.
