I'm a teacher for 15 years (not of music of course) and I have to tell you: your channel is the number 1 for me in terms of didactic. I'm so happy I found you!
Out of all the thousands of lessons I’ve watched, this is one of the top! The wood shop at the end is amazing, actually teaching us to really absorb and learn the licks and how to manipulate them.
I’ve been learning guitar on youtube for a while but just only came across your channel today, i saw the thumbnail and was like nothing i’ve seen before, i subscribed within 2 minutes cuz i know this is quality stuff, this is awesome
Dude, seriously… never stop teaching people guitar. I’ve been binge watching your videos for a half hour and it’s been the most informative 30 minutes of guitar I’ve ever had.
This shape was one of the first things I was ever taught by my father when I first started learning to play guitar. I think it is one of the most useful starting points for beginners. Just don't do what I did and rely on it too much!
Great lesson. And thank you, Chuck Berry, for giving us what I call "Chuck Berry riff #2", which everyone from John Lennon to Brian James has used. When I was 10 years old, I thought this was the most beautiful music ever played. Well, one of them; I was awfully fond of the Pastoral Symphony. [edit: no, this is an OUTSTANDING lesson.]
This is my favourite learning method by far! It helps us to quickly understand what the players were thinking/visualizing. Could you do this for the guitar intro and solo for Led Zeppelin's Since I've Been Loving You? It's one of the best works by Jimmy Page.
Great Post. I just hot hip to your channel and I'm glad i did. I play bass, but as you know it is all about the music. I am Crazy about Jimi's Live Version's of Hey Joe and Little Wing. Incredible, dripping with soul and groove.
Top guitarist and very easy to follow and agree with him in putting in the different riffs providing they are close to Hendrix's riffs if you want to change them slightly but will sound as good and make it your own by improvising as well and Hendrix didn't play it the same way twice and nobody can argue with the master genius that Hendrix was because his songs are epic
FAN-TAS-TIC . LOVE this channel. Love this solo breakdown and your lessons in general. Hey, question: What is this software that's generating the interactive tabs, fingering etc? Will MUCH appreciating you making similar lessons to other musicians, perhaps David Gilmore, perhaps Slash, all sorts of different guitar solos if you can break them down in this way - that's a killer lesson. THANK YOU so much!
👍merci pour ce tuto et solo de hey joe . incroyablement plus simple que ce que je m'imaginai donc accessible (reste a avoir la magie et le touché d'hendrix ) 🧠💫💥
I learned what a swing was when I was writing the sheet music for "I never loved a man the way I love you" by Aretha Franklyn, as sort of an intermediate level bass line lesson for my sister. And I couldn't get the notes to match up, and I'm getting more and more frustrated, and going, like, "WHAT. THREE NOTES IN A MEASURE, EACH QUARTER NOTE IS A BEAT CMON!!!!" Like just full on yelling in an empty room. So I mentioned it to one of my parents' friends whose an organ player, and he goes "oh, I know that song. I think it's a swing. It's gospel based anyway, which almost always means a swung rhythm. Are you writing as a swing, or a straight beat?" And I felt an inch high because I asked him "I've heard the phrase swing all my life, but I don't know exactly what it means." And he goes, oh, it just means all the beats aren't the same length. You have ONE-two-THREE-four, or like", and then he does the vanilla swing beat, where it's one long hit on a cymbal and two short ones for the short beat. "TSS! ts ts TSS! ts ts. Try writing it out at about a 3:2 ratio for long beat to short beat to start." Three to two was perfect. I've never been so thoroughly schooled in my life.
Hi i am looking into beloning the 11.50 à month Patreon but 2 questions how you do the live session when you have 1200+ Patreons how can someone be sure they have à spot. Then second what time are they given as i am in netherlands and someone else plus 8 hours , someone will be middle of the night
POW MUSIC, Why does Hendrix modulates switches keys to the E major pentatonic pattern#2? Hendrix also does this in Purple Haze solo which you should do a video lesson about if its E major pentatonic or E Dorian in purple haze solo.
I play lead guitar and bass guitar for over 20 years. I would love to get together with you and some other people that can play on zoom. I can't find the link to join. Hit me back!!! Thanks Joey
i am also a patron member but let me ask a stupid question here. i purchased a Les Paul ( i like the look andFeel), but i get the idea that a Strat would have been wise for more options and longer fretboard and such. so, should ik start saving for a Stat? ( most of the rockers on YT have a Strat.) sometimes my fat fingers do not enjoy the little amount of place around fret 12 and up. is this the same with a Strat? please advise ( no strings attached of course :) )
One great improvement you could make to your graphic is to change the note while playing it from the scale degree to the actual note. Once you release it the note would go back to its scale degree name.
I'm obviously not familiar with your process or how you developed FretLive, but is it something you are interested in selling? As in, is this software based and you possibly will sell to teachers in the future or is this more extremely meticulous editing. I'd love to be able to purchase the tools to do this if it was somehow viable to sell in software form .
