🧠 excellent wrap up! I’m so happy you joined up with the gang on the range. It was great fun. Now it’s almost time to wade through all the trash that has been flowing into The Manor!
Thanks Michael, I really had a great time.
🧠 Thanks for sharing your reviews. A few of these I shall have to try.
Dude. We need one Yeeeeee-Hahhh! from you!! 🤠🧠
LOL!
I love a good buddy friendship trope. Great wrap-up!
Yeah it’s always an enjoyable one to read.
June on the Range was a lot of fun. Your 10 books total is very impressive; I only did 5 for the readathon, but I did enjoy them.
5 is good going too! Glad you enjoyed the month, I thought it was great fun.
I was extremely resistant to June on the Range, but drank the Kool-Aid you served up and really enjoyed Shane as well as my first Longarm book. I had one DNF, but that’s how it goes. 😄
🧠
Glad you enjoyed it! And you've got a bunch more Longarms to read too!
If you want to read an incredible western you have to read Lonesome Dove by Larry Mcmurtry. It is a long read at 900 pages but well worth the read.
A book rustler !! I'll just ignore all that stuff you said about me and The Ox Bow Incident 🤣🧠
😂
I did read Shane! It was good. I think it started a trend in many ways. I then watched the movie. Both were good. The book went into a bit more detail.
Yeah it definitely has an important place in the evolution of the genre
Loved The Ox-Bow Incident a hundred years ago -- just bought that LOA collection so I can read it again. I was one of the five people in the world who hated Sapiens. Should have been right up my alley, but something about the author's relentless insistence upon his own brilliance put me off (I'll try it again someday, might have just been a mood). Congrats on making it through ... well, some of your Westerns. 🧠
Yeah my eyes were bigger than my stomach as usual (although I did read a bunch of non westerns too)
@@CriminOllyBlog Ugh, trust me. I have three solid years of paper books that I keep thinking I'm going to get through any day now. And about ten years on my Kindle.
🧠Great video and wrapup!
Thank you!
I keep thinking about The Ox-Bow Incident. So important. I did read Sapiens many years ago, but can’t remember much. 🧠
Yeah agreed - I think I'll definitely reread it at some point.
I haven't seen the film, but Shawn Standfast did a comparison video ua-cam.com/video/qgrvPKtqgR4/v-deo.html
I'm reading Longarm#6 now. Isn't that interesting? I knew you'd be enthralled.
Longarm js always fun
You read a great variety of westerns. I got three finished and really enjoyed them…well you know as much as you can ‘enjoy’ Blood Meridian. 😉 🧠
Yeah enjoy is definitely not the right word! It was excellent though
🧠 Sapiens is an excellent read. I also watched his lectures on coursera. I am almost half done Lonsome Dove for my June on The Range book.
Ah brilliant! How are you enjoying Lonesome Dove?
@@CriminOllyBlog Lonesome Dove is a great read. Only problem is that I have piles of SF waiting to be read, but I am reading a western instead.
@@wburris2007 well the SF will still be there when you finish it
I read Lonesome Dove early this year (2022) and really liked it.
The Ox-Bow Incident sounds fantastic! Is it a lot easier to read compared to Blood Meridian? Contemplating on which one to pick up first 🧠
Yes, definitely an easier read than Blood Meridian!
I don't actually think I've ever read a Western... although I have seen a bunch of the movies that are based on these books, and I know that books are always better so not sure why I've never read any 😅🧠
You should! I hadn't really before this month but so many of them were great!
Have you read oliver strange....the sudden series?
No, I haven’t heard of those ones
🧠 🤠 👍
:D
🧠
👍🏻
Gene Hackman's book is good but could have been better if condensed more.
MKVaughan just said the same thing in his wrap up. Am definitely interested to read it though
"Problematic in some ways." How so?
Sorry, I can’t remember what I said that in relation to!
