I've just meant the last 2 hours comparing glove liners. We're going to Fairbanks in February. He just gave me the answer I needed. Thank you very much. It was really good presentation.
Hi, I tried to find these PL base gloves but was unable to find them. Outdoor research doesn’t offer it on there web site. What alternative would you recommend? Great videos!
Here's my replacement gloves for the PL Base: Outdoor Research Vigor Light Weight Liner: ua-cam.com/video/BBv0HbEZDL0/v-deo.html Stay safe and warm out there!
Great reviews, we are going to Fairbanks and Purchased the OR Alti 2 mittens but i cannot find the PL liners anymore. Do you know of a comparison? We will be standing outside all night looking at the sky, and want to stay warm on a budget. We like your Expedition One book very much.
i really struggle with cold fingers and toes. I added HOTTRONIC POWER PLUS 4 system for the toes which does the job. Can you recommend a OR battery heated glove or mitten for my fingers. I believe OR has a new battery heated system for gloves for the 2022 - 23 winter season. Is that true? Or would you recommend Alti Mittens without batteries. Thanks for your suggestions.
I have been researching for a while now ready for UK Scottish Winter Mountain Wild Camping. I saw your video on OR Revolution Gloves and I ordered them. Now I have ordered these OR PL base gloves as a liner. I have on my right hand a broken finger that for years is fixed in a bent position and causes the putting on of gloves a tad awkward. My hands are rather thin but large, so I find XL Gloves to be best. At 60 years old I like to stay warm and learnt physical issues are just longer routes to a workaround in life. Great video once again, and great advice (not going to ignore an Artic Explorer now am I)! Liked and Subscribed
Hello, new subscriber here. It appears the PL model is discontinued, but I see several other similar models on their website. Any recommendations for reliable flexible liner gloves from OR?

By “wool doesn’t last” do you mean months before hole or a year? For more casual adventures and everyday use do you still recommended the nylon poly spandex blend for durability? It is counter intuitive to me that wool isn’t warmer due to nylon cold soak you mentioned in other videos.
Wool's weakness is durability. But it's the "ultimate" for warmth, smell prevention, wicking, etc. My thicker wool shirts/under garments have lasted for a decade. But my thin ones have developed holes. My Smartwool socks have lasted "forever". Synthetic fabrics are more durable than wool but they build up smell fast and are easily damaged by sparks/flames like around a campfire. Hopefully I said it right? - Wool doesn't cold soak - it's nylon that cold soaks.
Ok. I meant that the liner gloves you mentioned were a majority nylon with polyester blend and a small percent of spandex for stretch. The nylon would cold soak. But I guess it makes sense if the thinner wool or wool blend would get holes easily. Sorry I am trying to learn about the cold and cold garments from a warm weather location I have lived most of my life.
I sent facebook message asking about liners and emailed them when they told me to email instead via an auto response. Twice. No answer either time. want to know if liners like this come in the TF Mittens based on this video. At that price I am hoping they would . But just get ignored :)

Thank you!
Brilliant Aaron, thanks for this. Was about to buy the Icebreaker merino but now I think I’ll go with the OR…
I like my Icebreaker shirts/long underwear but I've found the gloves I had developed holes.
Really valuable information!
Thank you for sharing my brother!
Stay safe and have fun!
Thanks, you too!

I see this item is no longer available. Do you have a substitute recommendation?

Simply the best mountaineering gear reviews…although that Hile tent i think is too noisy in the wind. :)
Yes, true

I second this! Any recommendations of current models?
Are you using a size L in both gloves, or an XL in the Revolution (outer)?
I tend to buy the XL gloves to I can use the liners in them.
"Without the murder" 😂 thanks for the tips!
Thanks for watching & subscribing!

The altimitts have their own removable liner. I use these base gloves as an additional layer for better dexterity.
I’m starting to think that maybe the don’t pay you to talk about their stuff but they pay for your knowledge. Heavily
That would be nice!
WAIT, YOU DIDN'T SHOWER IN 3 MONTHS ?
Correct.
Your skin flakes off where it's dry. Moisture holds said dead skin and grows stinky bacteria.
You rag-wash wherever it's wet or damp.
You´re quite sweet. Thank you
Thank you too!
