    Thank you for posting this. I live in Ko Lanta, I have seen many people flying drones but after chatting with them.... they don't seem to care about the laws..... perhaps a THB100,000 fine will get their attention.....

    Great video! I am planning to visit Thailand with my drone too but I am wondering if it is legal to fly a drone over historical parks in Thailand?

    • @geekwandering
      @geekwandering  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi, there is no specific mention about historical places in the regulation, the rules states
      "
      You must avoid flying near crowds. It is prohibited to fly over cities and villages. Additionally, stay away from government buildings and hospitals.
      To take off and land, you must always obtain permission from the property owner. In practice, we usually resolve this by requesting permission from the guards or the information desk.
      "
      so providing you follow them you should be ok.
      When i fly the drone i try bot to fly directly above historical places as there is generally people there what i do is like a panorama view at a distance or i set a point of interest and do a circle around.
      i hope this helps

    Great video! I'm in thailand now on and ED visa, and planning to purchase a drone. I'm confused regarding the NBTC registration and validity time. My ED visa requires me to get an extension every 3 months, so in other words, I need to visit immigration every 3 months and they put a new stamp on my passport. So in my case if I purchase the drone, will I need to register with NBTC every 3 months? Also, what if I only fly once and never again, will I need to keep registering on NBTC and pay 214 THB every 3 months just because I posses a drone even though I don't fly it around?

      HI, according to the Thai regulations right now
      NBTC approval granted is valid for the same duration as your visa or entry stamp at the time of NBTC registration, and for Thai citizens the approval is valid up to 90 days. Remember if you extend your stay in Thailand you will have to renew your NBTC registration.
      What I see in your case if lets say you do not renew your NBTC registration and then lest say few month down the road decide to renew you will have to pay the fine for having an unregistered drone as you only given 30 days from entry into the country or purchase of the drone to register it.
      If you don't renew the options I see is that you cant fly it or renew your NBTC registration until such time as you exit the country and come back on a new visa and then do a new application to NBTC

    informative video!
    I'll be travelling to Thailand for 9-10 days on Arrival Visa, do I need to register it ?
    I have checked that to register on caat I need immigration stamp copy, that mean I have to arrive Thailand without pre-registration of my drone, will security confiscate my drone or they will allow and ill have no problem ?
    Please help

      HI, Yes you need to register it if you want to fly it. If you are not going to fly it then you don't need to register as long as you leave the country with you drone with in 30 days of arrival
      CAAT Thailand drone registration can be done remotely before your arrival, But you need to make sure your drone is insured as per Thai regulations (explained in the video) and takes about 2 weeks to get an answer
      NBTC registration can only be done while you are in Thailand and valid for duration of your visa and takes about 2 days

    I saw some guards were not allowing to fly in the National Parks. The problems is all the amazing places are part of the National parks, and even with the registration from CAAT, NBTC and FEIC, they didn't allow me to fly. In this case, do you know how I can apply for flying in the National parks? Thank you :)

      As per the regulations you have to obtain the permission from the property owner for take off and landing .I personally have not had that issue myself I always managed to get ok from local security guards. But if you having issues i think the best course of action is to reach out to an entity which manages the particular park and try to get the permission from them.

    For the NBTC, I have my thailand visa in hand already. Can I do the process beforehand and make the payment online ? Or they need an immigration stamp on my visa for it to be processed?

    • @geekwandering
      @geekwandering  5 місяців тому +1

      Unfortunately NBTC registration cannot be completed remotely before you arrive as you will need to submit a photo of your immigration entry stamp in your passport as part of the registration.

    • @geekwandering
      @geekwandering  9 місяців тому

      if you already in Phuket then yes its not enough time as CAAT registration takes about 2 weeks. if you not in Phuket and can get the CAAT registration done before arriving then you should be ok since you can get NBTC registration done within 2 days once you arrive

    Hi,
    I bought a drone on holiday in Thailand.
    I did not know about the registration part.
    I test flew the drone there and then I left Thailand within 10 days after purchase.
    If I try to register now, will I get in any problems or asked to pay the fine ?
    Can they know that I test flew it while there? I left the country within 10 days..

    • @geekwandering
