I recently found your channel and felt the need to share how much I adore your vibe and just seeing that passion you have for books 🥰 and the things you enjoy. I already adore your channel.
Ditto ✋🏽
Hey girl don't worry about the inconsistent videos. We enjoy your content and we love you, but we enjoy you being happy and healthy above all else.
So sorry to hear about your health issues. Hope you're feeling better. It's always great to hear you speak about books you're passionate about.
“Steely grey eyes” OMG I’m with you on the grey eyes pet peeve 😂
A one I hate is when your half way through and then your told they're blonde when you imagine brunette for example.
You should check out Douglas Preston's and Lincoln Child's Pendergast books. I think you'd like them.
I’m excited for the book club live! I read The Eyes Are the Best Part a while back and loved it
Deckeled edges are the bane of my existence! But, a great name for a book store!
You have a natural talent as an online personality! I would just push forward regardless of self-conscious thoughts, I struggle with the same thing. Either way, I’ll be there whenever you put a book out.
It's so sad that you live so far away because you seem like you would be such a cool person to meet. We have a lot in common, it's so crazy. I grew up on Alice in Chains music since I was a baby, and my dad and brother were always watching horror movies. I feel like that's why I grew up liking dark things as well. I've bought like 6 books you have talked about. LOL I'm very much looking forward to reading this months book. I'll start tonight. Love the Q&A!
Awwww just watching through your videos. I'm obsessed with your thoughtful and considered reviews and recommendations. Thank you for being so open, hearing someone else going through fertility issues and trying to be OK with the outcome was nice to know I'm not alone. Sending you prayers and good vibes xo
Just finished "The Damnation Game" by Clive Barker and loved it. Also love "Welcome To The Monkey House" by Kurt Vonnegut!
The Narrows is great, and I am very happy that this new edition is coming out.
Max Booth III is a wonderful author, publisher, and person.
I have two of Nat Cassidy's books, but haven't read them yet. (I buy, and eventually read, all of the Tor Nightfire books.)
The same as above for C.J. Leede, except I only have one book. Anyway, looking forward to both the Cassidy and Leede books.
Great video!
🌿 I enjoy your videos so much! I really look forward to each new one.
I understand how it feels to lose a Mom. Words aren't enough. But! You were so brave to start your channel, I really admire you for that!
PS. I too, hate those uneven book edges.
😊 📖
Oh wow yeah totally agree in the ghost logic consistency, if the supernatural elements aren't grounded down in some way than I can't focus or trust anything's "why" ':)
6:50. Deckle edge... Just tried one of your stories and it was awesome.
for graphic novel horror recs: does manga count? if so, i think you would absolutely love junji itos stuff! pretty much anything he writes and draws is amazing, so any old story collection will be a great time, but my favorite of his is definitely tomie
im not even a manga fan, btw. he's just that good
The girl who loved Tom Gordon was my first, introduction to Stephen King and my first real Adult horror book as well. To this day it is my favor King book bar none! I also love your content.
I love your content. Keep your head high queen your a light in a world of extreme horror
The Outsiders was a middle school read for me. It’s still a favourite. I’m waiting for my sister to age a bit because I really want to get her a copy but I feel she will get more out of it when she’s a little older. (She’s 10)
I was just thinking about this book, I think it's great for ages 12 or 13. That's when I read it.
joining writing livestreams might help with the motivation you need to work on your novel, especially if you can find a channel that runs them consistently. aside from that, I've found having a low goal, like 100, 200, 300 words per day, really helps!
Thanks for all the info and ideas for reads!
I have a random question for you Anda. I'm just curious if you like the author Dean Koontz? What are your thoughts about him? Just wondering. Also, I hope you have an awesome day!!! 👍
I found you a year ago and it's been a blast to watch your videos and in depth analysis. I didn't really read much books but you kind of encouraged me to read them especially the extreme horror ones, cause I'm pretty certain they'll never be adapted into anything. Keep doing the great work!
Oh ps love your content you actually got me back to loving to read books my boyfriend reads all the time and wanted to partake in that and your recommendation for maven fly was our first book together reading love youuuu
Just ordered The Eyes Are The Best Part for the bookclub!! I'm so excited 😎😎😎
Love this! Your videos are so soothing to watch xx
Record voice memos of stuff your thinking about then go back and build in it at a later time. Or write a snippet of something you're thinking about in your notes or whatever then go back and build. That's what I started doing
I ordered the first five books of the Murder in the mix series because of you. I can’t wait to start the series.
I really enjoy your videos, not to be weird with para social delusions...your videos always feel like I'm hanging out with my friend...I have the same passion and I don't have anyone to share it with so your videos are always welcome 🖤
I read The Eyes are the Best Part a week or so ago and im so excited for the livestream!!! maybe a test live stream would be a good idea
Love, love, love your videos and your passion for all things Horror. My husband and I have picked up so many books based on your recommendations. we are currently working through the first of many Darcey Coates books. Would love a stand-alone video on Kristopher Triana if you have time. 😊
I just finished "The Eyes Are the Best Part" when is the book club and how do I watch it?? So excited to join!
I found having other people who write (a writers group of sorts) helps me push through with writing. Especially if one or more is into horror or writes the same genre
Dude, I hear you about the writing thing. I'm currently editing my first book and I'm learning all about the self-publishing process and it is SO HARD.
I love watching your videos! Your opinion is pretty awesome and I have written down a lot of your recommendations. I was wondering if you have ever read House of Leaves a Novel by Mark Z. Danielewski?
I enjoy horror and thriller; mostly Stephen King, Shirley Jackson and Poe, but house of leaves is my all time favorite book and if you haven't read it yet, you should give it a try!
Nat Cassidy’s work is really good! I recently read both Mary and Nestlings and enjoyed them!
I’ve grey eyes 😅
Followed you for awhile, you made me smile with th bailey school kids...they were always my favorite and I think my kick into the horror collection of books
The steel gray eyes would bother me too, but I think about my ex who had eyes just like that and they were gorgeous and so yeah I kind of get it.
The book edges thing... One I never knew it wasn't just me that can't stand it. Two that is has a name.
How do we join ur bookclub? Books are my addiction! I don't know anyone even remotely close to me that is just as passionate about books. Ur so genuine and gracious. Ur honesty is refreshing and truly makes me feel seen! I know u said Instagram is easier but I don't have Instagram- in the future when u give chances to ask questions - or updates any way u can do it thru YT as well?
Great video. If you haven’t read anything by David Sodergren PLEASE change that. His books are a great balance of very fucked up and thrilling content and a fun, spookie tone. I’d start with Maggie’s Grave!
I would love to read something you wrote, you are my favourite horror booktube inspo. when you recommendations, If you reccommend something I know it´s gonna be good!
Your the best! What are your horror movie watching plans for this fall?
Oh man, deckled edges are my fave and they just don't make enough of them anymore.
And also , if you like a movie recommendation I suggest,
The cook, the thief and his wife.
I'm Thinking of Ending Things seems like a book you would love. It's a really quick read so maybe check it out!
I also have The Narrows coming by Ronald Malfi, I absolutely love his books, So far I have read. Come with me, Black Mouth, Small Town Horror and I have nearly finished reading The Night Parade. All Amazing Books. My next Ronald Malfi read before The Narrows come out will be Bone White :)
The only thing that put me on a consistent schedule was having a kid 😂 also getting a full time job
Edit: just got to the little creeps question, sorry to hear that, I hope everything works out for you!
I have enough books already that i will never run out of books to read. But I'm still going to keep buying new ones. Even if i won't get to them, they still look nice on my book shelves.
All three of iann Reid’s books are amazing and worth a read, they def fit into that surreal fiction sort of feel.
Not a routine, but just try writing every day. As a reader you can sometimes start reading a great book and spend all your time reading but making a goal just to write a little everyday helps. 10 sentences of a short story everyday even less if that’s what you have time for. Get a notebook start a story and go at it everyday. It definitely works. 😊( Oh btw Nat Cassidy’s MARY)
Hi Anda! greetings from germany :D I really love your videos, they always make my day if i see a new one up! If you like absurd fiction then you should read a book from Carlton Mellick III , he basically invented the genre Bizarro Fiction and his book are always a wild trip and abolutely hilarious! i can recommend "The Cannibals of Candyland" you will love it, i guarantee you!
Omg I found the first horror book and now look! Yayy
Just read Mary by Nat Cassidy, it was great 👍
The eyes are the best part was the last book i read!
Great video today, 😊
Not sure if you’ve answered this before but would you read horror manga/ comic books?
Is there an official way to become a part of the book club? To join in on discussions, etc.?
I was listening so not sure if the person who recommended reading the book We Used to Live Here added the author or which one. There’s two out there, but if I’m correct I think they meant the one with the white cover just to let you know. I’ve read the red cover one, was whatever. The white cover one I’m currently reading, I also recommend.
A list of your favorite horror movies and why they're your favorites would be awesome! :)
i would love to read a book u wrote!
One graphic novel I'm sure you would love is Ghost World by Daniel Clowes. The film version - made in 2001 and starring Thora Birch, Scarlett Johannson and Steve Buscemi - is also pretty darned terrific too! P.S. The title is deliberately misleading, there aren't any ghosts in it...or are there?
joyce has another book coming out in Nov of this year
7:30 Sometimes we could create but choose to do for others instead, feeling we haven’t yet earned the right to invest in ourselves or ask of the world to receive what we create. It can be hard to believe in the inherent value of the self, and that it’s equal to those around us, not contigent upon acts of service to others or tasks we perform which are validated by standard blue/white collar society values. It can feel unbelievably selfish to insist on scheduling regular chunks of time to work on your art. But all of these things, assuming any of them ring true for you, are beliefs that can be challenged and set aside if confronted head on and consistently. If writing really matters to you, it benefits those around you that you do it, as well as yourself, because it’s meaningful self care. And if you create a book, in the end it may add to the lives of others the way other’s books have added to yours. Good luck making the time to write.
I would check to see if you have ADHD and see a physiologist for your schedule issues. I found out I’m autistic and have ADHD and it’s changed everything for me, in a good way. I also suffered from depression in the past and my diagnosis explains a lot about what I was going through.
Have chatgpt draft you a schedule for writing, then refine as needed.
I wonder if the purple eyes thing is a legacy of tumblr - people made up a rare eye condition that supposedly makes your eyes that color 😅
EVER OCCUR TO YOU THAT THERE IS NOT ONE SHRED OF EVIDENCE THAT BIG FOOT, THE ,LOCH NESS MONSTER OR THE TOOTH FAIRY DOES NOT EXIST.
Just to put it out there, "based on a true story" does not mean that that story actually happened. It's a marketing device to attract people who like to think that it's based in reality.
"A Perfect Storm" was "based on a true story." Almost the entire thing was made up, and if you watch the film you can figure out fairly easily where they were able to begin inventing things out of the ether, and when they probably had to stop.
I read too much!!
What's wrong with gray eyes?
Where I live like 30% of people have gray eyes.
You need a pusher
Knowing what i do of you, I must say that maybe it's best you have no children as of yet. A nice family dinner with the new baby as the main course is not accepted by the law. But don't lose heart, the way society is devaluing it will be more than acceptable before to long.
