I saw them in Downpatrick, County Down, 1973 and as myself and 2 friends were hitch hiking home from the gig, we got a lift with Horslips, i got the short straw for i got a lift with johnny fean, i was shy and quiet and he was quiet or shy, or bored trying to talk to a teeny bopper. I saw him many years later playing in a duo in London. a great band indeed x
Saw them playing in Lawlors Hotel in Naas in 1972 and in the late 90s Johnny Fean and Stephen Travers played as a duo in the Spinning Wheel in west London.Think they called themselves The phycopats.
I was one of the lucky people and seen these guys live so many times I lost count, there are still a credit to our wee island. Horslips will always rock ;)
Horslips, formed in Dublin by some work mates in a Dublin firm went on to world fame........ Eamon Carr is from Kells, Co. Meath, Johnny Fean is from Limerick, Jim Lockhart is from Dublin City, Barry Devlin is from Ardboe, Tyrone - all of which are in Ireland. Charles O'Connor is from Middlesbourough but he's also of Irish extraction and he's one of the founding members that was living and working in Dublin....... So why do you think they're a UK band?
@@Driver2616 that was me who said it 9 years ago. I thought they were from the north because of the story of where the name comes from is in norn iron. The four poxmen of the horslips.

Was lucky enough to have seen them back in 78/79 and 80 and also in the last couple of weeks in Drogheda and Belfast! Brilliant!
Love this.
Thanks for that gem of a riffxx
Great band! always will be!
BEST IRISH GROUP BAR NONE
Up there with Smoke on the Water and any of Page's classic riffs.
Lol
from Dearg doom from Dearg doom
It's odd that he talks about the guitar riff as if they wrote it! It's "Marcshlua Ui Neill" (O Neill's Cavalry)
They acknowledge this in the sleeve notes to The Tain, which is one of the 10 best albums of all time.
No mention of I'll Be Leaving, which has one of the best riffs of all time
I looks like youre right there Mugdorna. Mia Culpa
Fair play
what do you mean by that comment? What's wrong with them being Irish?
Jaysus croist that live version is really rushed.
@Hemulen40
But mate they are from the UK so theyre British lol same labels same struggles. U2 are from the Republic.

@@Driver2616 9 years ago man. You're a bit late.
@@ByrneMJames : I see that now 🙄🤣🤣 I hadn’t noticed till you pointed it out. Still, how could he have been so far off the mark even in 2011!

@@Driver2616 Because he hasn't a clue, maybe?
Err, no. Horslips were ROI based....From 1970-1980 played on both sides of the border.
