For as long as I can remember I’ve picked at my fingers, any scabs on my arms or legs, my back acne and my face and I have similar symptoms as you. I have been diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety disorder and I think I might have dermatillomania. I have brought it up with me family doctor and my therapist as well as my physician mom, I can’t find anyone who specializes in this disorder near me, I was wondering how you got diagnosed and if it was by a dermatologist, physiologist, specialist or your just your family doctor. I want to know who to go to to see if I qualify for the diagnosis. Thank you for helping me feel validated in what I’m going through.
TTQ: Has there ever been a moment when Flynn has found a “worm” and it’s actually been a snake? I know the little boys in my family have done so lol 😂 I love you guys so much!!
Your videos help sooo much! I agree 100%, it's nice to know you aren't alone. I have Dermatillomania, ocd, depression, anxiety, otsd and a lot of health issues. It sucks sooo much!!! I have zero control over my Dermatillomania. I'm always picking at something especially my face and cuticles.
I loved you putting Maisy to sleep because I'm watching this while I put my baby to sleep too! She was born on the twins' due date and it felt like we have gone through pregnancy and motherhood together!
Colleen! I suffer from dermatillomania mostly centered around picking at my acne (but like hardcore) and it's so hard, I had no clue people also had skin picking issues before I saw you bring it up during your pregnancy with the twins and recovering from them being in the hospital. It's such a relief knowing that someone else understands the compulsion and I literally cried when a while back you mentioned how it embarrasses you/ makes you feel bad when people mention it during an episode because my friends and family do it and I know they're just trying to help but it really is awkward and makes me more anxious/insecure about it. I hope one day my acne won't be as severe so I don't get any more scars on my face. Anyway, thank you for sharing so much!
I do the same! I don’t have “acne” per say but when I get stressed I can’t help but look into a 12x plus zoom mirror and pick at every pore or tiny bump I see thinking they are “blackheads”. It sucks because my family brings it up too and I’m almost afraid to walk out of my room afterwards when my face is all red and swollen. It isn’t something I feel like I have control over at all but I’ve started to get better by knowing my triggers to pick, which is usually stress and avoiding mirrors during those times. Especially the zoom mirror! I try to avoid that all the time. Sometimes I still can’t stop myself but having awareness has helped me a lot and I always ask myself if it’s worth it before doing it. I try to remind myself that just one pop always turns into many more and that most of the time doing it makes my skin worse rather than better. Sorry you deal with the same thing! 💚 Also if you haven’t already try to use ice or an ice pack covered with a paper towel on the spots you picked to help the swelling and redness. Cortisone also works well for me to put a little dot of it on the places I popped and that really helps the swelling tons! Cortisone has helped when I get an occasional inflamed cystic pimple and I almost always see immediate reduction in size if I apply the cortisone to that spot before bed. 💕💕
I am sure you have tried everything, but I am always looking to add a helpful suggestion. Try using Tucks wipes on your face, they are for hemorrhoids, but they do wonders for clearing break outs! I don't have the condition you have but I have horrible acne and I feel the urge at times to pick at them. Also a friend of mine used to tell me that if you place a hot washcloth on a pimple it reduces the size. Maybe for the scars you could buy vitamin E. Capsules and puncture them placing the gel on your scars to help heal them. These are all tips I have heard from others. I praying for you! Sorry you have to go through that.

❗️❗️PLEASE GET THIS TO COLLEEN GUYS!! ❗️ ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Tortilla Talk : Colleen I know you probably won’t see this but I want you to know You are strong. Don’t listen to the doubts. To the voices telling you that you don’t do enough, that you don’t matter, that nothing will ever change, that what you’re doing day after day after day won’t make a difference. Those aren’t true statements - they are subtle fallacies that keep you and me stuck and not seeing the amazing tenacity tucked within. Let me tell you truth. Pulling up the covers and kissing a little one goodnight after the hardest day of your life matters. Smiling when you have tears in your eyes matters. Searching for bugs in the hot sun with Flynn when you have a list of things to complete matters. Making shows for our entertainment matters. Walking into your office editing for hours matters. Walking out the doors so that you can buy that grilled cheese and applesauce matters. Pumping gas and milk for the twins and baking bread and vlogging everyday matters. Changing the laundry load and scrubbing the counters and listening to stories from the day and going to bed exhausted because you gave and gave all matters. - Your Fans
Tortilla Talk Question - Would you want to homeschool the twins or send them to in-person school? PS - Love how all your 3 babies are becoming wonderful adorable humans 🥰❤
she answered this before she said it depends on what her kids need. if Flynn needs home schooling she will. if he does better in public school then that's what she'll do. she doesn't really have a set plan she's gonna play it be ear :)
I'm so happy for you that you have found a specialised therapist that knows about dermatillomania/trich. I have tried so many therapists etc and there isn't really anyone in my country who has specialist knowledge about repetitive body focused behaviours. I hope you feel a lot better asap. As you said it comes in waves so just remember you'll hit a smooth time soon. xx
Yees😍 hey btw shaina, i recently started my own channel where i talk a lot about well-being, self growth and a healthy lifestyle, if you wanna check it out☺️
You are right dermatillomania sucks. One of the things I pick at is my scalp and it's not fun having sores and bald patches on my scalp, plus the scars on your body from picking suck too xxx sending you hugs xxxx
Hi Colleen thank you for taking the time to vlog everyday even when you have a toddler and twins. Your vlogs really make my day and I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate you.
Flynn is literally a Disney princess but with bugs. A cricket on his shoulder?? And the way he can just pick up bugs so easily, whereas most people will try to creep up on a bug to catch it or or run and chase it. He just has a connection with them! I love it!
I am 18 and I have very recently been diagnosed with dermatillomania and I did not even know it was a thing until watching a video where you mentioned it about a month back. It feels so amazing to finally know that this is a real thing and I am not alone. I pick primarily at my face so it is very noticeable and it is so, so hard. People don't understand that I can't just stop. It means so much that you bring awareness to topics like these. Thank you so much. Sending so much love.
You should get Flynn a fish tank. He would love it. I had a tank for a long time and it was a great way to learn about the fish as a species, providing a sense of ownership. and it is a very cool thing to own
crying is natural, it’s okay to feel. you’re human. it’s not a meltdown. it’s allowing yourself to feel, to be humane, to be free. you’re doing your best. you’re gonna be okay sis. 🥺💕 we love you. so does your family.
Hey Colleen, I’m going to a doctor soon for adhd and I was just wondering how medication effects you. Like does everything go quiet, do you prefer having medication than no medication. Any tips or advice? Thank you for being so open and honest about adhd and your mental health ❤❤
Hi! I know you didn't ask me, but I think that the medication helps me a lot and makes life a lot easier. The symptoms of adhd and anxiety/depression don't completely "go quiet" but they occur less frequently and are way less aggressive than before. It has helped me a lot ☺️
Colleen you and your family literally make my day 😭❤️ I haven’t been feeling well for the past month and you guys make me so happy ❤️❤️ So much love to you guys

I truly loved how you asked Erik if he was ok. Kiddos are hard and you have got each others back! My favourite saying is "the grass is greener where you water it" so keep watering peeps you are doing an amazing job.

Hey Colleen! ADHD isn’t a mental health disorder, while some may consider it one (because it relates to the mind) it is actually a neurobehavioral or neurodevelopmental disorder (referring to development of neurological pathways that infuence performance or functioning the brain, the way the brain affects emotion, learning, and behavior -basically how your brain functions). I have severe adhd and I totally agree with whatt you said about validation. Thank you for sharing all that you do, it helps so so so much
Thank you so much for sharing your Mental health journey. I have trichotillomania and at the start of the pandemic it was absolutely horrible for like 6 months. Now I have some tools and it’s much better but you’re so right, it comes in waves. ❤️
I appreciate you so for being opened with everything and honesty and so sweet biggest heart no matter good and bad days and take deep breaths and relax and you got this and blessing angel miracle 💜
Much love to you! I just find out I might be pregnant. I’m nervous because my son is 7, and was born at 31 weeks and was a nicu baby. My placenta ruptured and he and I almost didn’t make it. You’re the best mama and I’m so proud of you! You inspire me! 🖤🙏🏼
also going through a really rough time with my dermatillomania right now and it's so frustrating to not understand why sometimes it's so bad. thank you for talking about it :) definitely not alone
You validated me and my feelings. I have torn the skin off my lips until they’re raw and bleeding. I was in elementary school and couldn’t go to school for days at a time because I had destroyed my face. Now 25, I’ve moved onto a much less noticeable place. My toes and toenails are chronically raw and bleeding. I thought I was literally the only person in the world who would tear their skin to bits and can’t stop. To know someone as “perfect” as you struggle with the same problem that I do makes me feel so much less alone.
Oh my gosh Colleen!! Every vlog you post I am amazed at how incredible of a mom you are. You care about your kids so much. I love seeing how you take care of the twins, but especially how you take care of Flynn. The way you have conversations with him is so beautiful. Keep being a beautiful human being! I feel so much comfort knowing I am not alone with the skin picking and everything. I use to cry because like literally every other day a few of my fingers would hurt so bad because I have picked them to death. It is so painful but I totally relate to the comes in waves, I’m 9 months postpartum and it has been hard but I’m hoping it will get better soon 😭
TTQ: Hey Colleen :) I’m in high school right now and I struggle a lot with anxiety. I was wondering if you have any advice you would give to me or your passed high school self about how to deal with social anxiety? Ilysm you’ve helped me get through so many days 💕
Ugh yes!! I been watching you forever and I’m not diagnosed but for yearsssss I’ve been struggling with all these symptoms of dermatilomania. It’s definitely not easy you’re so right about all this and so many times I’ve goggle searched what is wrong with me and come to find out that you understand and really you’re the one who got me to understand I’m not alone with this , restless nights and days of picking and stuck in that zone. Dear Colleen, thank you for being so open about mental health issues. Seeing talk about them has empoyered me to aknowledge mine at work a few days ago. I am a manager and for the past few days I've kept snapping at them for no good reason. I want to be a good (and great if possible) boss whom people like to work with. I'm taking a couple of weeks off and get inspiration from your own journey. Thank and big hugs from 🤗

My dad was also a pastor and ultra conservative. I have wondered about that too since she said she used to do prayer journals a lot. I know it has been a struggle as an adult to figure out what do I believe.
They have no more rooms for another nursery. Upstairs there’s the office, Flynn’s room, their big master bedroom and twins’ room (that used to be their guest room… we’ve seen her parents sleep on the floor of the nursery recently so definitely no more rooms).

I wanted to post something I saw just this morning, PPD pre pandemic was at 15% and after pandemic it rose to 47%. PPA pre pandemic was 27% and rose to 72% after the pandemic started. It is no joke and I hope you know you’re never alone Colleen. Also wanted to mention my mom has wicked dermatilamania and my girlfriend does too. Mom picks her hands and feet, girlfriend will pick her acne spots, and I have it mildly but I notice myself doing it if I’m stressed or zoned out. And I pick a spot on my head. You’re not alone and I am grateful for your videos Colleen.
So accurate Colleen helped me find the words for talking about my dermatillomania like when she said one time when you actively do it everything in your brain just stops for that moment no pain no nothing just almost white noise in your head and afterwards you’re like “oh no this hurts what did I do” ive never been able to find the words without her. I didnt even know other people did this. So thankful Colleen 💕
Hi Colleen, I just wanted to say thank you for talking about your dermatillomania because it allowed me to finally put a name to my own scalp picking and gave me the confidence to talk about it with my therapist. Like you, I have good days and bad days with it, but I’m working on it and so I just wanted to say thank you for having the confidence to talk about it publicly. I really appreciate you and I wish your family all the love.
Hi Colleen, you are doing awesome, with your children; it's very cool to see you again. Maisy is too cute. My good friend, you are making me laugh so much!!
Colleen I'd like to share my story with you with all my love. I used to suffer from chronic depression and anxiety, it was unbearable! I thought I was set to live with it for the rest of my life. I started meditating every day and I swear it changed my entire life! I never got it back, stop taking my meds and now looking back I can't believe how much it changed my entire life. I know you're a super busy women, but try to find 10 mins a day where you could have your space to try it out! I really wish you the best ✨❤️ Ps. Tortilla talk question: Do you ever think about if the kiddos will ever watch these videos while you’re vlogging?
that would be awesome! about 10 years from now and seeing who are at that time -> in the 'right' -> WOULD BE AWESOME
I laughed out loud when you showed how Erik stuffed Maisy in the couch. Truly the most dad thing 😂
Quote of the day “ when you cry it doesn’t mean your weak it means you’ve been strong for too long “ 💗
This is actually a Johnny Depp quote.
love love love that quote
Or, you are a human!
🌸 The way Flynn fearlessly grabs at any insect. What a mad lad 😂♥️⚘️🌠~♡☆
That’s so nice and sweet
Also if you haven’t already try to use ice or an ice pack covered with a paper towel on the spots you picked to help the swelling and redness.
@@lindsaycooper4859 thank you so much I appreciate the advice! Have a blessed day :]

Colleen I know you probably won’t see this but I want you to know You are strong.

I love how supporting you are with Flynn and the twins it’s so amazing
I'm so happy for you that you have found a specialised therapist that knows about dermatillomania/trich. I have tried so many therapists etc and there isn't really anyone in my country who has specialist knowledge about repetitive body focused behaviours. I hope you feel a lot better asap. As you said it comes in waves so just remember you'll hit a smooth time soon. xx
Hanging out while putting the baby down felt so fun 😍 I know it’s not something that can happen all the time but it was so sweet.
Thanks Colleen for being so open with us, it really feels like I’m there for a friend. Also thanks Colleen and Kory for all of of these videos! 😊❤️
Just listening to this while doing something else and hearing "he stuffed Maisy into the couch" is TERRIFYING. LOL.

I love it!
I have trich and i feel you! Some days are great and i have no pulls and some days, i pull for what feels like forever. You got this, Colleen
Sending so much love.
i have dermatillomania and one of the first ways i learned about it was through this channel, so i’m very thankful
I take Vyvanse and I love it!
Hi! I know you didn't ask me, but I think that the medication helps me a lot and makes life a lot easier. The symptoms of adhd and anxiety/depression don't completely "go quiet" but they occur less frequently and are way less aggressive than before. It has helped me a lot ☺️

I appreciate the being open and talk about mental health. even tho I may not have been through the same mental health but hearing that people have come out the other side always helps
I truly loved how you asked Erik if he was ok. Kiddos are hard and you have got each others back! My favourite saying is "the grass is greener where you water it" so keep watering peeps you are doing an amazing job.
we’re walking to a christina aguilera concert right now and on the way here my mom and i were listening to the newest podcast episode. just introduced her to it and she loves it hehe! u and erik are amazing !!
I have two little sisters from 4 and 6 and sometimes they have meltdowns to at the same time and then I'm like wow it looks hard to be a parent now so I try to help my parents as much as I can in such moments. Love you
Hey Colleen! Thank you for sharing all that you do, it helps so so so much
It scares me how many people with ADHD think it's a mental health condition
Thank you so much for sharing your Mental health journey. I have trichotillomania and at the start of the pandemic it was absolutely horrible for like 6 months. Now I have some tools and it’s much better but you’re so right, it comes in waves. ❤️
Hey Colleen i love you and your kids!!! please come to somewhere in ohio i really want to see your show!!
I hope things go better this time and you and baby are healthy and happy!!!

Flynn makes my heart só happy, he just takes the cricket without freaking out...it's só beautiful🥺
also going through a really rough time with my dermatillomania right now and it's so frustrating to not understand why sometimes it's so bad. thank you for talking about it :) definitely not alone
how colleen reads the journal, is the BeSt ❤️ i cant wait for the babies to turn 1 and when they react to these videos AHHHHH
You are a great person and always be loved by your family and friends and you are great mom
Also, I would LOVE it if you could come to Omaha, Nebraska on your tour. Me and a lot of my friends would love to see your show! 💕 ❤️

You helped me when I was all alone for 2.5 years in medical school in a whole different country away from all my family members

I actually have trichotillomania and u have helped me so much by sharing your stories. I am really grateful for discovering your channel because now I'm like 9 months clean. So when you think your vlogs are boring, they really aren't and help me and many other people with their mental health.❤
Your kids are so precious😊😊😊
If you are adding anymore tour locations, will you please come to Colorado? Thanks, I love you!
Hey can you walk us through how you go about making a song whether it’s for an intro or for a live show? Love you 😘
Poor momma and poppa, that's so rough. I'm a single mom with a beyond hyper active son, with a touch of autism and I have had many many of those moments. You just do everything you can, the best you can and most of the time by the next day it's forgotten about.
Its time for Flynn to have a reptile so he could feed the bugs to them. It will help him learn about food chains!
TORTILLA TALK!! how has flynn reacted/responded to fan interactions? for example if a fan comes up to you in a store and asks for a pic and flynn’s with you.. what does he think/do? love you!

OMG! Thank you for sharing your prayer journal. It is so cute and entertaining.
TTQ: Hey Colleen :) I’m in high school right now and I struggle a lot with anxiety. I was wondering if you have any advice you would give to me or your passed high school self about how to deal with social anxiety? Ilysm you’ve helped me get through so many days 💕

I won't be shocked if Flynn ends up being a Bug Catcher when he's older.
I love you so much tysm for being so open with us ❤❤
Dear Colleen, thank you for being so open about mental health issues. Thank and big hugs from 🤗
Mama: "Maisy Jo, what are you doin' in there?"
*camera pans to Maisy propped in the couch cushions
Maisy's Face: Hell if I know.
TTQ: Where are you now on your spiritual jouney and/or how do talk (or plan to talk) to your kids about such matters? (Your prayer journal brought back memories....I too grew up in a conservative Christian home. Dad was a pastor. 🙄)
My dad was also a pastor and ultra conservative. I have wondered about that too since she said she used to do prayer journals a lot. I know it has been a struggle as an adult to figure out what do I believe.
@@shirleymaysonet8069 I feel ya, babe.
Colleen at the end with her hair in her face was such a mood, hahaha! Good job for handling 3 meltdowns at the same time, that's very impressive.
you’re so so amazing! i admire the way you can do so much with twin babies and a toddler!
TTQ: have you considered putting the twins in separate nurseries so Wes won’t wake Maisy?
They have no more rooms for another nursery. Upstairs there’s the office, Flynn’s room, their big master bedroom and twins’ room (that used to be their guest room… we’ve seen her parents sleep on the floor of the nursery recently so definitely no more rooms).
@@gabrielleoana1092 I think they turned the downstairs podcast room into a guest room or a part-time guest room at least, but still no extra rooms for one of the twins.
@Gabrielle Oana But they still have the master bedroom so they can put Maisy there and Wes in the nursery, because since all their naps are in the day, I feel like it will work
I wanted to post something I saw just this morning, PPD pre pandemic was at 15% and after pandemic it rose to 47%.
Love the prayer journals God bless you😊!
Me too.
I think it’s so awesome how you tell us you love us at the end of every vlog. We love you too!!! (and your beautiful family, including the furry ones)
I really wish you the best ✨❤️
Ps. I know this is just my experience, but I've heard about this before and I was like "yeah sure" but until it actually becomes real... Oh man 😍

Thank you for sharing about your dermatilmania sp? I rub my skin when I am anxious. I finally realized it was anxiety that was causing me this.
