Patras' Suburban Rail to Kato Achaia (04.06.2024)

On 04.06.2024 the metre gauge railway line between Patras and Agios Andreas Stations reopened, after the complete replacement of the substructure and infrastructure. This included a brand new switch with wooden sleepers and concrete sleepers for the majority of the single line part. The timetable update is controversial and not at all appreciated by the passengers, as it changes from 1 train per hour to 5 trains per day connecting Agios Andreas with the rest of the North Branch. This means that people travelling to the University Hospital and the University can't take the train and have to drive or take the bus. The South Branch is served with trains every 90 minutes.
The first two photos are at Patras Station, with both trains to Rio and Kato Achaia. The shot after them is from inside the train approaching Kato Achaia Station, while crossing the Peiros River metal bridge. After that is a photo of the train at Kato Achaia Station, ready to depart back to Patras. The last shot is the same train running (sort of) on the newly laid rails with concrete sleepers. Notice the temporary joints just before the curve.
The trains Patras - Kato Achaia and back consist of a ΟΣΕ Stadler GTW 2/6 Metre Gauge 4407.
The train Patras - Rio shown in the first two pictures consist of ΟΣΕ Stadler GTW 2/6 Metre Gauge 4412 & 4410.

Όμορφα πλάνα. Καιρό είχαμε να δούμε κατειλημμένες και τις δύο γραμμές στο σταθμό της Πάτρας.
