You don't need a physical scanner anymore. If you open the Google Docs app on your phone, there is a "scan" feature. Take a picture of a bill and it will convert it to a pdf document and put it in Google Drive. It's pretty impressive.
Legionnaire's Disease bacteria can grow in your hot water tank if you turn the temperature down too much. Its much better to keep the water hot in the tank and then cool it down closer to spigot.

I just want to say that you are doing a great job. Even if I can't use everything you are talking about, I still find it educational. Perfect for a long run or a commute. I have no plan on moving to the US, but if I would. I think I would handle all the taxes, ROTH IRA and such as a native. Cheers
