Probably robbed of its engine and scrapped decades ago. That almost happened to the brown 4 door hemi coronet a few times over the years. Same guy in Vegas that owns the red car also owns the brown one that had the hood scoop.
I heard it was in Reno. Bill Harrah owned one or made one. He also owned the dealership in town at the time. He supposedly just it to transfer money between Reno and Lake Tahoe.
The wagon a 1967 Belvedere 9 passenger wagon was supposedly ordered from a Plymouth dealership in Shorewood Wisconsin suburb of my hometown of Milwaukee Wisconsin by accident. My dad bought a 1967 Hemi GTX convertible new from this same dealership. The story I heard about the wagon is a guy went to the dealership spoke to a young salesman and speced out a wagon telling the salesman that he wanted "the most powerful engine available" so that he could tow his boat with the car loaded (family, luggage, etc). At the time the 426 Hemi was the most powerful engine available so that's what the salesman put on the order form. When the car came in the gentleman almost didn't accept it because the car had a 4 speed manual and dual quad carbs but reluctantly took it because he didn't want to wait for another car.
In my much younger years I was working as a police office and met with an FBI Agent on a case. Long story short we got to talking about drag racing (which I used to do) and muscle cars in general. I told the agent how I'd always wanted to own a Hemi car and was shocked when he casually mentioned that the "bureau" used to have some taxi looking, no options, 4 dr. '66 Plymouths with the 426 Hemi engines. He followed that by telling me they idled rough and used too much gas. I was practically drooling by that point! Over the years I've frequently asked some Mopar Fans if they'd ever heard of the FBI have '66 Plymouth 4 dr. sedans with the 426 Hemi engines. Everyone looked at me like I had two heads, then told me the FBI agent must have just been messing with me. Now I'm wondering if the agent didn't mean Dodges or if the FBI didn't have a few Hemi Plymouths as well? I'd love to know the reasoning behind the FBI ordering some Hemi Cars; love to have heard that discussion.
Dodge nailed the styling on these, probably one of the best looking 4-doors ever made, along with the Belvederes of '66/'67. The hemi is just icing on the cake! So glad you shared this awesome piece of history.

I remember the story about the Hemi 4dr Belvedere in the magazine...I seem to remember the old man that ordered it wanted the biggest engine he could get so he could tow a fishing boat...;)
Coolest Mopar I've ever known was/is my '66 Dodge Coronet Deluxe, slant-6/908 one-wheeled wonder that got me through some impossible financial hardships. $375, beat to hell, but it got us through!

While not Hemi related, you might appreciate this. In 63 or 64, my great aunt's parents purchased a salmon pink Savoy four door. My great aunt and uncle were teenagers tearing up Hawthorne Boulevard in Gardena around that time as kids, and my great-aunt kept on going through back tires in that Plymouth like no tomorrow. My uncle went to go change the oil one day, and he said he was greeted by a pair of chrome air cleaners and a gigantic cross ram intake! This car was an end-of-the-year leftover and was the last on the lot, and my great aunt's parents got a good deal on it, and they weren't hot rodders by any means!
The rarest car I have laid eyes on was a 70 roadrunner hemi convertible automatic. Supposedly 1 of 3 automatic s made. Was at a mopar car show at Hagen park near Sacramento Ca back in the late 90's. Thanks for sharing Uncle Tony.
Hey Tony I remember reading about a red 66 four door with a Hemi and the invoice read something like special order for Floyd Cline. I had a 66 Coronet with a 360 in it and Loved it. I was only 19 when I owned it. It had perfect Blue interior and drove like it was brand new!!! One of the ones that got away.
I remember Tony's article on the the elusive 4 door Hemis entitled 'Kansas City Bombers'in a Musclecar Magazine from around 1987.That same issue also featured a red 1966 Chevrolet Biscayne 4 door factory equipped with a 425 hp 427 and 4-speed.Rare indeed.
That is a cool car!I remember reading the story about the white and red one back in the 90s. Probably still have the issue tucked away somewhere!I remember the article said the owner who was from Kansas owned the red one I think ,bought it so he could pull his boat lol!
a local town had a 4 door satellite 440 6 pack for a unmarked car. man would that thing fly!!! if you floored it you'd have to back off to get it to move. tires never lasted long.
Thanks for brining this one back! That brought back a flood of memories about working with you back in '86 on the original article about the 2 4door'66 Coronet Hemi's in Wichita, Kansas. I had mailed a letter that described the cars, and you called and said I WANT IT!, and asked me to get some pics and other details back to you. I sent the pics and documentation that my buddy that owned the White one came up with. That is the same car in this video. I mailed all that to you, then waited a bit. Then your eventual article showed up in the debut edition of HIGH PERFORMANCE MOPAR Mag. Then the Tony with the last name that I knew, kinda disappeared, I feared they had passed into the ethereal MoPar plane. Then I hear "that voice" again a couple of years ago on youtube... :)
That article showed pictures of the dash featuring the original owner's name. The article also stated both Coronets were ordered by private citizens, so l've wondered for a long time where the FBI story came from.
Uncle Tony, Dude! I remember that magazine article you wrote back then about this car!! I bet i still have that issue in a box in the basement... I gotta go look for it now. What a totally amazing car and story!!
I loved a 426 until I had to pull up beside one at the track.......but thank God I finally figured out a remedy........I bought a 64 Thunderbolt from Phil Bonner....still have today......I do love those Hemi's......I could have just bought a Hemi and joined the crowd, and saved money but I bleed blue. I saw a full size dodge station wagon at a carshow several years ago that came from the factory with a flathead six in it . I think it was a 1959 . I bet that was a real under powered sled .
Tttooonnny. Our family was the original owners of the blue one. We had it from 1966-1987 when sold to the individual in Arizona. I believe I still have the original hub caps from the car. I learned how to drive in that car.
Would love to hear about the Red one in Vegas. I remember when that article came out in HPMopar, 2nd issue I believe? The Red one had no motor in it and it had a tag on the dash that said it was 'specially built for (Insert name)'

That looks like a red Corvair on the right. Now, I'm for sure going to have to visit the museum again! Have a safe trip Uncle Tony & Uncle Kathy!! Spoke to ya later, Ka moan.😎
It hurts to think of the cars that were driven into the ground or retired in the woods that we'd give our eyeteeth for now. My dad had a '62 Chrysler 300 H with the dual four-barrel 413. Black interior, red exterior, what a machine. I hope that somewhere that car is being coddled and kept pristine.
I remember traveling from our small town in western NY to Canton, OH to trade our family Valiant for a new four dour full size Plymouth. I was going on 14 and had a clue what was up, but my Mom had no idea we were getting a 426 max wedge...4 door. I waited eagerly on the ride home for Dad to turn the beast loose. When he did, he took a beating from Mom. The engine and trans immediately went into a 62 Valiant and was campaigned locally as an AF/X car. I think Dad still knows the whereabouts of the four door.
I remember those 1980s PHR articles. One of the 4 door Hemi cars had a plaque on the glovebox from Chrysler Corp that said "Built for Floyd Cline". He must have known somebody at Chrysler or maybe been an employee?
It may have been Uncle Tony, but I remember a section in a car magazine called. "They say they didn't make one, but I got one anyway" Was about cars that the big 3 say they didn't produce. But people have them along with the build sheets. A guy in Rockford IL had 64 Belvedere I believe he ordered with a 426 Max wedge, bur came with a Hemi instead.
I love 2 doors and 4 door mopars especially the odd balls . my first car back in high school 1995 was a 1965 dodge dart 4 door with factory 170 slant6 automatic shift on the column 7 .25 . I learned how to drive in that car and took my driving test and passed and even surprised the officer riding with me when I parallel parked with no issues . I drove that thing all over the place . but at the time I only knew one mopar guy up the street and he didnt know any other mopar people and thats when I started having issues . had to have the original radiator repairs 45.00 bucks wow cheap! but had the odd ball trunion Ujoint go out and the brakes needed rebuilt . i fixed the car up some it had factory steel wheels I paint gloss black and put on dodg dish hub caps . the car was an off white with some small cancer spots so I ruffed up the body and spray painted it primer gray. the car had an odd ball factory interior color like a pewterish paint and factory upholstery matched the paint as well . well I sold it for what I bought it for $300 now I wish I had it back since I have access to mopar parts and mopar people
It's definitely amazing to think about - I think there is a red 4-door Coronet with a factory HEMI that was ordered by a man who's dad pestered him for getting the "strongest" engine in the lineup (if memory serves). It sold on a site fairly recently. My personal opinion that no one asked for: It's definitely cool, but I think if I were a contemporary at the time, the fact you couldn't order A/C with a HEMI in general, much less a 4-door, would kind of be a deal breaker for me - racing is one thing but I love creature comforts just as much. I HAVE heard that dealers would install an A/C system in a HEMI, but it would be incredibly expensive - don't know if this is a rumor or even true. That interests me far more, personally.
The 66 Dodge station wagon used to be garaged in Marengo, Il. It may be worth contacting Mecum auctions as they are originally from there. A room mate of mine during the eighties had the opportunity to work on it around 85,6,7 or there abouts.
aw, tony, you are such a teez! my dream car - the only thing that would clinch it for me would be a station wagon. vroom! thanks, tones. you are one of the coolest mopar guys. i always loved those mopar model kits.
I remember at least one of those magazine articles. I think a Hemi station wagon or two isn't too far fetched. Motorcraft FL-1A oil filter on this motor .....
Totally devalues. This is blatantly not thinking ahead for the oil change. It's in a museum, it should have at least a Walmart MoPar oil filter on it. Probably had an ever start battery in it, or a duralast, and had the decency to remove it before this video.
Quite similar to my '62 4 dr Fairlane 500. Had a straight 6 and a 3 onna tree. All that is gone now. I like the look. More rare than the 'classics' too. No way Ford was stuffing a big block in that Fairlane frame.
Yeah the other ones have to be dealerfitted 426. I know you know alot more than me but I feel like there is alot of confusion when it comes to that. Cause everything that you used be able to get as option from the factory you would be able to get as an option at the dealership and were still be able to still considered “Stock” but they are not factory stock.
Dad drove a '66 4 door Coronet when he was in high school. It had a 318 and automatic trans, but he swapped in a 360 and a 4 speed. It's still setting out at the old family farm... ...still has that tree laying across it too... :,(
I heard or read years ago that the Petty`s got a special order Hemi station wagon and used it for towing. Maybe stop at their museum on your way home and see if it was true.
Very nice, I remember seeing the brown hemi 4 door in Toronto in the 80's at a car show. I think it was tan or copper with a tan interior. I only saw it once, I wish took some pictures.
That car was sold at Eccleston motors in Toronto. I worked there. Went to a guy in Bracbridge. Doctor I think. Only thing that gave it away was the 426 hemi sign. Think it also had blue streak tires.
Fun fact: The car is actually black, but nobody without high enough clearance at MIB know how to change the color now. I believe MIB removed the red button also.
Pretty much all American cars had the single circuit master cylinder prior to 1967 ,when the federal government mandated the use of the dual circuit master. Also drum brake cars do not need a large volume reservoir that disk brakes require when fluid transfers to the calipers as the pads wear.
The story goes that the 67 Hemi Belvedere in Finland was owned by a dentist in a small coastal city called Pori when it was new. My guess is that it was not just a jaw dropping experience to have this thing rolling on Finnish icy roads during the winter. It might dropped few fillings from the dentists mouth as well. Anyways maybe during the eighties someone pulled the Hemi out for some other purpose and the they had to hunt the same motor back to the vehicle once they discovered how rare this beast actually was. Someone knows better where it is nowadays but obviously in great restored condition.
Time to find the wagon, now that would be an amazing piece!

a local town had a 4 door satellite 440 6 pack for a unmarked car. man would that thing fly!!! if you floored it you'd have to back off to get it to move. tires never lasted long.
It looks just like your typical family car but it has a beast of an engine under the hood too kool
THE 426 HEMI IS A COOL ENGINE THEY JUST DIDN'T MAKE ENOUGH OF THEM .
Been a Mopar man since '74. I love this dude. And Uncle Kathy!
Cool car! I use to help a lady at the Cannary I worked at start her car. 1967 Dodge Coronet 440 4 barrel. Those were the days!
Uncle Tony, Dude! I remember that magazine article you wrote back then about this car!! I bet i still have that issue in a box in the basement... I gotta go look for it now. What a totally amazing car and story!!
I had that issue too...swear to god man!😉👍
I loved a 426 until I had to pull up beside one at the track.......but thank God I finally figured out a remedy........I bought a 64 Thunderbolt from Phil Bonner....still have today......I do love those Hemi's......I could have just bought a Hemi and joined the crowd, and saved money but I bleed blue. Excellent video.....thanks
I found a police car mid to early 60s fury with 383 pursuit and a factory 4 spd. 4 dr of course. I should have bought it
I saw a full size dodge station wagon at a carshow several years ago that came from the factory with a flathead six in it .
Someone who ordered that gem at the fbi certainly was a car person! Fantastic video! Hello from Canada 🇨🇦
I love these ancient hemi cars where the tires squeak from just taking your foot off the brake... crazy amount of torque.
my favorite car in the whole place, and Paul Romine's 1st-in-the-fives NT/F car, and the Sidewinder, and the Tom Thumb Turbonique Go-Kart... but that's it!
I love big 4 door sleeper cars. I've been trying to get my 96 Buick Roadmaster sedan's LT1 built up, but it's taking forever with my lack of budget.
That is WAY cool... seeing a plain old white four-door mid-60s Dodge - with an factory HEMI badge on the fender!
WOW!!! That's gotta be the coolest HEMI production street car I have ever seen or heard of, well besides the wagon if it does exist. Nice lookin' headers laying on the floor there. That looks like a red Corvair on the right. Now, I'm for sure going to have to visit the museum again!
Have a safe trip Uncle Tony & Uncle Kathy!!
Spoke to ya later, Ka moan.😎
Nice catch.
My 67 R/T was in the May of 1999 Issue High Performance Mopar
"One that got away" from the car crusher! THANKFULLY!!
WoW you learn something everyday, I had know idea mopar built four door Hemi cars , Thanks Tony
I remember those 1980s PHR articles. One of the 4 door Hemi cars had a plaque on the glovebox from Chrysler Corp that said "Built for Floyd Cline". He must have known somebody at Chrysler or maybe been an employee?
The depth of automotive knowledge Uncle Tony has is staggering.
I remember reading about these in the muscle car magazines back in the 80s which I still have. Sedans are my favorite body style.
these are the uncle tony videos that float my boat and the nascar's you featured recently
Absolutely love it!! Thanks for sharing this with us UT
I drove that thing all over the place . but at the time I only knew one mopar guy up the street and he didnt know any other mopar people and thats when I started having issues . had to have the original radiator repairs 45.00 bucks wow cheap! but had the odd ball trunion Ujoint go out and the brakes needed rebuilt . i fixed the car up some it had factory steel wheels I paint gloss black and put on dodg dish hub caps . the car was an off white with some small cancer spots so I ruffed up the body and spray painted it primer gray. the car had an odd ball factory interior color like a pewterish paint and factory upholstery matched the paint as well . well I sold it for what I bought it for $300 now I wish I had it back since I have access to mopar parts and mopar people
I’ve got a 70 satellite 4 door, I really dig the sedans!
Beautiful!
Oh my all the ones that got away ...
Uncle Tony, you brought my love for Mopars back.
These are so cool, here in Finland we have 67' 4 door Hemi Belvedere
You would have to assume they wanted these to chase down moonshine runners. Either that or the case of " You are allowed one option only"
Yeah, you have to wonder what the FBI did with this car.
That thing is beyond beautiful.
I've been in Big Daddys museum many times. He's in Ocala, we're in Sarasota...Welcome to Florida...
I noticed that too...how much does it devalue the car? :D
Totally devalues. This is blatantly not thinking ahead for the oil change. It's in a museum, it should have at least a Walmart MoPar oil filter on it. Probably had an ever start battery in it, or a duralast, and had the decency to remove it before this video.
I used a Motorcraft FL-1A on slant 6 (1970 Duster 3 speed standard on the floor) I'm pretty sure.
Quite similar to my '62 4 dr Fairlane 500. Had a straight 6 and a 3 onna tree. All that is gone now. I like the look. More rare than the 'classics' too. No way Ford was stuffing a big block in that Fairlane frame.
Love that car! It would have been fun to order one like that in 1966.
Finland mentioned. Torille!
Unbelievable Tony, Unbelievable !! Thanks for the History Lesson. Very enlightening.” Wish We Had One” !!
Mom leaning over the fender of a four door Hemi lashing the valves. Lucky kid
So J. Edgard Hoover was a mopar guy! Nice!💪
I had one of two 62 lancer GT's made with the cloth moon roof and experimental paint. It now resides in Maryland.
Thank you fun to watch
It is a small miracle that the car survived in tact and wasn't stripped for its parts being a 4 door.
This guy is amazingly knowledgeable!
Love the oddball stuff
Between
South Beloit, Il and Beloit, WI is a Chrysler dealer with a good ol' MoPaR collection in back of the showroom.
I Like it ! That's interesting about the hemi car having a different K- member and added support to the unibody .
Fun fact: The car is actually black, but nobody without high enough clearance at MIB know how to change the color now. I believe MIB removed the red button also.
They built them to fly not stop look at the Master Cylinder lol.
I remember that article very well
I see the back of your shirt says "The Gearhead Monk". I hereby dub thee "Father Torque" after the character in the 1990's video game "Full Throttle"!
That thing is a gem.
I think 4 door sleepers are awesome.
