Well these plants aren't natural. Humans created plants that didn't need the light of the sun to thrive because the outside world was so devastated they had to lock themselves in walled cities. I guess in the early days the rooftop had an hollogram imitating the day/night cycles. From what I understood, everything went bad when in order to get rid of trash inside the city, humans developed a bactaria capable of eating our trash. But something happened or the bacteria just evolved and it started eating humans too. The "Companions" were alone in their creators' city and eventually became sentient, and learned enough about them to start imitating them (or another theory is that all the sentient robots are humans who transferred themselves into robot bodies and eventually forgot everything). But then the bacteria known as Zurks evolved again and started to eat metal too so they were killing the robots too and became a huge menace, so much that it seems only the robots in the slums, antville and midtown are still alive.
@@shydreameress264 Yes yes mine was a very early comment haha, obviously the plants were "modified" in some way- but we humans wouldnt call plants a "technology", not even genetically modified ones, mostly cause we think of technology as science applied to machines (I know the literal definition isnt that specific, its just more commonly used like that). I work with science on the daily, on the machine side, and calling plants a "technology" seems bizzarre. All philosophy aside, those plant are super cool!

Right? Humans tearing up and getting emotional over non-existent cats and ignoring people who are suffering right in front of them every day. Isn't it fascinating?
Seeing the behaviour of the screens at the beginning and comparing it to the end really suggests more that B-12 is still alive rathar than it being a corrupt system
The moment the cat fell down my heart broke and I wanted to stop watching, I knew it would make me too emotional to watch this but now I have to see the kitty get back to its friends :'3
42:36 The number is actually "Two billion five hundred forty-four million eight hundred seventy-five thousand five hundred fifty-six" in words, and if it was that many days [I'm not typing it again] then it would've been six-million-nine-hundred-seventy-two-thousand-two-hundred-sixty-one years since the humans died [6,972,261 years].
I know everyone has the same cat, I wish we could've gotten a cat customization option in the start of the game so everyone could have a unique coloured cat, but I ended up calling my cat Mr. Meowmers.
The game just finally unlocked for me and I'm waiting impatiently while it installs. I'm so damn excited!! I can't wait to watch your playthrough after I finished it myself!
37:35 I totally had deja vu of this moment!!! I remember having a dream where Gab saying this phrase while playing as a cat talking to a robot. I wrote it off/quick to forget about it, as I know Gab has a pet cat I figured it was is just my brain mixing knowledge of reality and illusionary in dream state. Guess I was wrong! I'm really enjoying Gab's gameplay and can't wait to see what happens next!
I feel like this game was tailor made for gab that the company that made it got together and thought what is Gabs perfect game. Gonna love watching you play this
I love these robots! Momo is amazing, and I love how he dresses. Jacob is such a nicely dressed robo bartender. And I love their animations, and unique faces…I love this game
Theres another game called endling its a lot like this but but more story based its about a fox mom who has to take care of her 3 kits while also discovering secrets while trying to find her 4th kit who was taken by a mysterious human. I think you would like it, other than that loving the game and great video as always.
I can't get enough of this game! so far, I've watched 5 people play the first half, including Julien, and Seán. It's so fun seeing how everyone plays it differently, but yet also some things you all react to in the same way! You are the first one who has posted the second part, so I'm pumped to watch it! Thanks for your genuine joy and for letting us experience this sweet, lovely, cozy game through your eyes. I'm loving it.
Gab! This will be very random but I remember how in one video you mentioned looking for a coffee concentrate in the UK. Unconsciously, I've been looking for one since then as well, and I finally did it! Specifically, in Tesco, in the instant coffee section! If you order groceries online, the product name is Quaterpast. There is no picture online but I've seen it there in person! It exists! Now the vod was probably from a twitch stream from a month ago, so it's okay if you're waay past that idea, but I would go crazy if I didn't try to tell you lol
This game is absolutely gorgeous. When I seen that pipe falling apart my heart sank and then the falling into the city I guess it is. And I audibly said I will find you family we will be together again. Miaowing at things is so cool lol sing what would happen when you miaow at robots the cameras even nod to you lol. Thank you very much for doing this game it is absolutely amazing so far
I've just come off my PS4, playing Stray, and it has such a beautiful atmosphere, and the controls are so natural and intuitive, it's like I was born to be a cat. 😅
Now I know why I take 30 hrs in a 15 hr game, 100 hrs in a 50 hr game, and so on. I was trying to play at the same time than Gab, and had to rewind 3 times the first 15 min already. While you did it 3 times, I did it once. I guess I stare at things, look around, wonder what's in every corner, I stepped on the robots and looked at them a lot, meow to a camera and it responded to me ... I took like 20 screenshots too already ...
God, this game is already so good! I did shed a tear when the kitty fell into the hole and his siblings were calling for the baby. ;_; not sure if Gab would read this but I think for the pink note, I think you have to show it to the programmer that was in the programmer building? I remembered he was willing to help if we showed him something? (I'm sure she figured it out lol but just wanted to feel helpful ^-^')
14:20 It's only natural that a game where you play a cat would allow you to knock objects off of edges. It's practically compulsory to a cat, right up there with Link's consistent urge to smash pots. 🤘😊🤘
Just played the first 3.5 hours of this game, and it is a lot better than I was expecting! So cute -- meowing 100 times was the easiest achievement i have earned lmao
I have been waiting to watch someone play this game! SO glad its you i get to watch play it. I too do not allow my cats outside as i know how worrisome it is, when i was living and taking care of my grandmother, all 5 of her cats were indoor/outdoor and every single day i had to go out and call for them to come home. some of the cats didn't want to come back inside so id have to get toys and laser to get their attention, and then one after another would go missing and some never came home and it broke my grandmothers heart every time and this is why i do not allow my cats outside, i do not want that stress every day of wondering where my babies are especially because we lived in wooded area so there were coyotes and i also don't trust a lot of people either because some people are not very nice to animals. Living in more country rural areas i had to hear a lot of the teen boys at my school talk about trapping animals, one told a very horrible story that i wont repeat here but it made me lose respect for people who do not respect animals.
as soon as i learned about this game i was like "omg gab just has to play it". and when i saw the notification for this video i got supper happy lmao! so excited for this lil series 💕
Nice play-through, you're right about how real the cat looks. They did a great job except for 1 thing. Cat's tails always "fluff-out" when they're startled.
Ever since I put this game on my calendar and wishlist (god how many years ago was that? memoriesssss) I knew I was gonna watch a Gab video TODAY! She would not let Jul 19th pass without a Stray video. My fave lady for a reason 💛😝
This game comes right off the heels of my cat almost dying from a UTI and taking a long time to recover. The cuteness of how realistically the cat moves, but then when they walk with a limp, it's really hitting me.
I love how the mechanics of interacting with the world are inspired by the behavior of cats instead of eg *press x to open* it’s cleverly attentive and celebrates a love of cats. Wow, that intro pulled on my heart strings. I needed to give extra attention to my pair of kitters after watching that. Thank you for playing this Gabs; it was a delight to watch!
So excited to have found your channel! I was just wanting to watch a play through of this game and another person I found seemed really sweet, but her energy was a bit much for the vibes I was going for. Your chill energy is amazing :) I’ll definitely be binging your other videos
Ah, watching this reminds me of my tuxedo cat I once had. Softest and most affectionate pet cat I've ever had, who always wanted to climb all over us. I'll always remember his funny out-of-character moment when he was being watched by another cat while his fur was being being brushed, he proceeded to walk towards the other cat and smack it in the face. Must have thought the other cat was laughing at him.
They've got everything so perfect omg i love this . The meows and chirps and quick little trots. 😭😭 THE PURR MEOWS HIT MY HEART AS MY CATS JUST SITTING NEXT TO ME SLEEPING
I know I’m two years late to the party, but I finally got covid, and your content this week has honestly kept me sane. Thanks so much Gab! You’re my fave! 💕🥺
My first thought upon seeing the kitty playing and scooching along was "I can't handle loving another digital animal like I did Trico." That was a LOCKED AWAY memory that should have stayed sealed.
Of there's ont thing I can say, it's that seeing Fan's face at the end of a poopy day is a blessing for my anxiety 😘 you have a way of getting me out of my head it's great haha
Those one-eyed monsters reminded me of "the meat" from manga "Bio-Meat: Nectar". And that "NECO Corporation" info about bacteria disposing of trash reminded me of it even more 🤷.
i like how the game isn't too insanely goofy, it takes itself seriously but has adorable, funny, realistic, etc moments like the cat being upset with the backpack, the ability to knock down things just for fun, the rubbing up against the robots legs, the head getting stuck in the bag, etc. also the fact that its a game about a lost cat wandering around with a tiny robot strapped to its back is goofy in itself but you forget about the ridiculousness immediately because the graphics and the worldbuilding are so entrancing that the situation is just normal
I love that Gab just takes her time and go around every nook and cranny. i don't know about other gamers, but i do that a lot in games. like when i open up a comic book, every panel would not be forgiven hahaha. i have to look at every drawn piece of paper or the writings on the walls and what not.
Once it said “ballad of a lonely robot” I immediately thought “I walk a lonely road the only one that I have ever known don’t know where it goes but it’s home to me and I walk alone”
I was watching this with my pet cat and she got completely fascinated by it. Like her eyes didn’t move off the screen. Must mean the devs did a great job replicating cats 😆

And those Zurks.... remind me of fleas. They all must die! 😸
Right? Humans tearing up and getting emotional over non-existent cats and ignoring people who are suffering right in front of them every day. Isn't it fascinating?
@@IsUserADuck very. Even more fascinating? Seeing people getting butthurt and offended over a REACTION someone else has.
@@Paint3dRos3 fair enough. Not offended though, more like fascinated.
@@IsUserADuck I'm sorry. I took it the wrong way. My bad. Also, some people have a bigger heart for animals than humans.
@@Paint3dRos3 no need to apologize. It did come out quite whiny, now that I re-read it 😅 ✌
Seeing the behaviour of the screens at the beginning and comparing it to the end really suggests more that B-12 is still alive rathar than it being a corrupt system
The moment the cat fell down my heart broke and I wanted to stop watching, I knew it would make me too emotional to watch this but now I have to see the kitty get back to its friends :'3

The number is actually "Two billion five hundred forty-four million eight hundred seventy-five thousand five hundred fifty-six" in words, and if it was that many days [I'm not typing it again] then it would've been six-million-nine-hundred-seventy-two-thousand-two-hundred-sixty-one years since the humans died [6,972,261 years].
I know everyone has the same cat, I wish we could've gotten a cat customization option in the start of the game so everyone could have a unique coloured cat, but I ended up calling my cat Mr. Meowmers.
Devs said that Stray is a journey of this particular cat so that’s why there is no customization available. I love that actually.
Gonna love watching you play this
"Why do I feel like we're going to be separated"
We call this foreshadowing...
I am so invested in this game! lol I ordered Chinese food for lunch and enjoyed watching this whole part of the playthrough. PLEASE keep 'em coming!!
I love how almost everyone I watched so far playing this game talk like they're playing their PET instead of themselves
Those enemies look like a combo of tick, flea and mites put together. The true enemy of kitty cats.
The moment our cutiey being separated from his friends, I sobbed
I adore the 'lil toe beans when the cat steps in the paint
I’ve been waiting for so long for Stray to come out I’m glad you are playing this game. It gives me a chance to watch someone play it
Now I know why I take 30 hrs in a 15 hr game, 100 hrs in a 50 hr game, and so on.
1:07:07 That's one dope music! Reminds me of some of the songs K.K Slider plays on ACNH!
As soon as I saw this game announced I knew you would play it! I'm so excited!!
This is the cutest game I've ever seen!
14:20 It's only natural that a game where you play a cat would allow you to knock objects off of edges. It's practically compulsory to a cat, right up there with Link's consistent urge to smash pots. 🤘😊🤘
Theory: Link is secretly a cat!
you: Secret Tunnel
ATLA fandom: SECRET TUNNEL
Just played the first 3.5 hours of this game, and it is a lot better than I was expecting! So cute -- meowing 100 times was the easiest achievement i have earned lmao
I’m so excited for this playthrough! And maybe you can show the safe note to Elliot! He’s a programmer
Also I think he is the cold robot you need to give the poncho to...he seemed to be the only one "shivering".
My heart broke when the main kitty fell, I'm trying not to sob.
The beginning with the rain and ambiance, not to mention 4 cuddly cats, is like ASMR gold.
1:10:11 As a piano player, putting the Lick randomly at the end of a song is like my own personal rickroll
I could listen to cat sounds for hours, and then now we basically have a game for that
This game´s ambience, especially the music reminds me so much of Inside. It´s both soothing, and so so isolating.
The fact my cat came and cuddled up next to me as you did to the musician made it even better.
as soon as i learned about this game i was like "omg gab just has to play it". and when i saw the notification for this video i got supper happy lmao! so excited for this lil series 💕
i’m watching this on my big tv and my cat was immediately interested. he’s sitting in front of the tv staring at the kitties and pawing the tv. 😭🖤
"Why are they afraid?"
... because it's a Flerken, not a cat.
Love the reference ❤️
Nice play-through, you're right about how real the cat looks. They did a great job except for 1 thing. Cat's tails always "fluff-out" when they're startled.
Ever since I put this game on my calendar and wishlist (god how many years ago was that? memoriesssss) I knew I was gonna watch a Gab video TODAY! She would not let Jul 19th pass without a Stray video. My fave lady for a reason 💛😝
The vibe of the game is immaculate, the neons, china-town like street corners and wandering as a cat through rooftops.... that is a dream game here
I woke up feeling sick this morning but now I get to cozy up with my tea and watch gab play a cute kitty game 💜
I hope you feel better soon
@@bleumoon__ thanks! I love orange juice
Never has a person been so perfect to play a video game protagonist. A purrfect match I daresay.
I watched the trailer for this game a while ago and it looks good, glad it's out now and I can watch you playing it 😄
This game comes right off the heels of my cat almost dying from a UTI and taking a long time to recover. The cuteness of how realistically the cat moves, but then when they walk with a limp, it's really hitting me.
So excited for this game! Thanks for featuring it Gab!
Apart from elden ring I've never been more hyped for a game ever, especially for a gab playthrough
I’m taking my written test for driving today, I’m super nervous but seeing Gab play this adorable game has calmed me down. 10/10 amazing vibes
As a cat lover, this is very very satisfying.
For anyone who are wonder, the collective noun for a group of wild or feral cats (in wich street stray cats are included) is a "destruction".
Whoever did that missed the chance to do a pun with a "CATastrophe" of cats...
i love cats too much to NOT be completely out of my mind stressed out whenever gab runs by the zurks
I absolutely love this episode and this game I can't wait for the next episode thank you gab and I love the way you play this
"Mildly Important Information"
"Sorry Byee"
Perfect timing now I have something to watch at work😌 I’ve been waiting on this one!🥺💕
I love that Gab just takes her time and go around every nook and cranny. i don't know about other gamers, but i do that a lot in games. like when i open up a comic book, every panel would not be forgiven hahaha. i have to look at every drawn piece of paper or the writings on the walls and what not.
I’m waiting to play it so i’ll watch this after, I just know you’re gonna love this game Gab!! can’t wait ❤️
That cry when the cat fell will always tug at my heart.
Finnally! This game is here and momma gab is playing it!
