It seems pretty clear to me that they have lacked some assistance from the right producer in their studio work which could have shaped and sharpened their act. The venue, AB, motivated everyone to bring their "A" game. They had all the bugs worked out when they hit the stage this night. Yes, everything else I have seen them do is a little rough and if he could accept some input or guidance this act could have gotten to the right venues and audience. They were really suited to US West Coast Cannabis Scene, but played all the wrong places in the US. David Lowery could probably help them figure out their niche in the US. But Kudos to AB for guiding them to a peak that night.
@@craigdouglas9309 I've seen them when they've been just as good as this but the records, although I love them anyway, are definitely lacking on the production side.
I am a software engineer. For some reason when I get stuck developing I listen to this band and I solve my problems. Maybe because it is mathematically tight and has such fantastic sequence and structure.
Their sound is awesome! I just discovered this band and I can't stop listening to them. Btw, what's wrong with the public? I would be jumping and dancing all over the place in a concert like this!
I was in this crowd, third row or something. If you see an awkward 25 yo guy dancing in a white GOAT- tshirt, that's me. . This concert was part of a mini-festival in the venue that went on the entire afternoon, with 6 consecutive bands playing (Crows, Madensuyu, Moon Duo, White Hills, Goat, and I think a DJ at the end). All of it cool trippy psychedelic music. Many people were standing upright for quite a while. Although I do remember quite a lot of movement in the front during Goat. Definitely great vibe. I saw them in an outdoor venue in Antwerp a couple of years later, and that was a lot more physical.
A new door has opened. I feel like I am freaking on Black Sabbath for the first time, something NEW.............and something ANCIENT, while I am in the MASH, RAVING then tripping to a HEAVY PUNK BEAT, and slipping through a back door to some AFRICAN SUPER-BAND stadium dance festival. I lost track of time and space there.....Am I at a DEAD concert? No that is Santana behind the mask, but I just heard Hendrix playing, or one of those Jimmies, and that was just Kate Pierson. Where am I ? I recall the Stooges saying they could not get anything going in the studio unless they could see Jim's butt shaking in front of the band. That was the inspiration. Holy Shit could you find inspiration in that girl.... It takes her about two minutes to warm up and then the BASS kicks in and she takes off like a rocket ship for a full set, with an ever changing free form of dance, that is like choreographed perfection, but improvised. She squeezes every bit of HEAT out of that body as her sister plays High Priestess to her intense TRIBAL RAVE. Makes you wish you could slip right up under that outfit, peer behind the mask, get close to whatever that is burning under there. On top of that, I think she is a new mother. Who is that Masked Mystery Priestess of Fuzz Punk Beat? Who is behind that mask and how did she get so talented? You have to watch the James Brown Shuffle she does to Disco.... even Mr Brown would be mesmerized by her glide. Follow the magic language of ROCK and ROLL as it travels from Tribal Africa, is bathed in US acid, hops on the B52's and trips its' way to Sweden for peak.....in the Midnight Sun. I knew Gothenburg was a great city for the arts but.... Hey GOAT-en-BURG....You fucking ROCK! Do you realize how fucking HOT you all were that night? Transcendent Swedes send Rock into Orbit through their custom made portal. Has anyone noticed many of these are actually punk songs played slowly, and could be covered in PUNK form? Do it guys!
Yes! It is like they don't realize how HOT this act was that night or what they were hearing. Night in Brazil...with a huge DANCE MASH RAVE. How can you not TRIBAL RAVE to this act.
Wow, amazing. Only recently discovered these guys and this is the best live recording I have yet to find of Goat. Well done! I can only dream of one day seeing these guys live in Colorado. Red Rocks?, cmon Goat!
I think this act has left the planet and I hope we see it pass by on its' second orbit. We have some great venues in the US West for this act, but it has been primarily an EU, Scan Rock band. Colorado or Nevada at dark would be a whole 'nother freakin' dimension Forrest, peaking mile high and headed for the stars.
This night was a one off for them, like Santana at Woodstock or Janis at Monterrey. Thank god they caught it all on tape forever. If they are inspired, Goat Man can put sure put on an a show.
I am thinking, thanking, that ROCK and ROLL has NOW LEFT THE PLANET. It went around the world and then launched from Goat Town (Gothenburg). I hope we can catch it on its second orbit.
I don't know, haven't heard anything about them in a couple years now. I really hope so though. Fortunately, I never get tired of this show or any of their albums but a new Goat album sure would be fucking amazing. One of the members (Goatman) has an album called Rhythms which is groovy as fuck and I think the drummer is in a band called Djinn and they have a couple jazz albums out. Also the band JuJu featured the djembe player, Capra Informis, on their album Our Mother Was a Plant and they featured Goatman on the song I'm in Trance off their album Maps and Territory (strongly recommend JuJu). Also, Capra Informis has a couple solo ep's(?) out. But as for the actual band Goat...I do fear they are done. Much Love to ya, hope you are well!
@@steffl6126 I saw! Unfortunately I am in the States and can't get to Europe. I do want to see them sooo freakin' bad though. Hopefully they come to the States at some point. Much Love to ya, and if you are going to any of their shows, I hope it is nothing less than a mind-blowing voyage through All of Creation!
Given the Zero Tolerance in Sweden for any Non-State Sanctioned Lifestyles, it makes one wonder if they even understand this tripper's language that they have clearly mastered.
Despite being Art Rock, this group seems very unpretentious and inclusive and the masks make you wonder who they are. But the word "commune" is a misrepresentation and missed translation of the media trying to find out what is behind the masks. Scandinavians use the word "Commune" like we use the word "County" in a title. Reflecting emphasis on the group cooperative, Commune reflects the services provided at the county level, which are cradle to grave care and cooperation. It is nothing like the commune we think of in counterculture, maybe counter culture grown up and running the state. The success of art in Sweden is actually a reflection of healthy state support rather than a separate counterculture. Most interesting is, the Swedish Commune has zero tolerance for drug use but produces a band that has mastered the language of the trip.
A bit of culture appropriation going on there. I guess it's alright as long as you show proper respect. Then again, I don't know either of your ethnicities. Anyway, music's cool, so I'll give it a pass. Groove on!
