Really enjoyed this set. Lots of songs that blew me away, like 20 Size, Remurdered, and the chill inducing Every Country’s Sun. Awesome band. Cheers Mogwai and fans!!!
This is the best performance of Remurdered I’ve heard. I think it’s a tricky song to do live because it often sounds more uncertain, and you want the end to hit like an anvil - it does in this show.
It was Yesterday night.....my week was pretty bad and i was zapping thru the TV Programm, as i saw this Band my very very first time. Never heard anything from them. But now they have a new Fan. Their Music took me away....i just wanted to watch one song, to see if i like it.....I watched the Show to the end and it was absolutely awesome !!!!!! Greatest Band i have ever heared Live !!!!
It’s as beautiful as the non retractability of the talons of rapacious birds or as the uncertainty of muscular movements in wounds of the soft tissues of the posterior cervical region. (Maldoror count of Lautréamont)
Wife: "Does every song have to have the squealing feedback?" Me: "What?" Wife: " DOES EVERY SONG HAVE TO HAVE SQUEALING FEEDBACK?" Me: "No... but it's Mogwai, so, yes."
HOLY SH*T! Who are these people? They are not of this Earth. Have we been visited by vastly superior aliens and did not know it? They might be angels, especially the drummer who is my opinion the heartbeat of the group.
Just saw mogwai in hamburg. Just a great show, thank you! Cat does a really good job backing up for Martin. Nevertheless, get well soon, martin! What i didnt find out, who is the new guitarrist? He rocks.
Dar Ancienne Belgique Team, thank you so much for this fantastic videos. Just one thing, is it possible to shift the audio a little bit (one or two frames), so that it syncs with the video?
I'm still a huge fan of let's say 2-3 first albums... after that is somewhat lazy repeat-settings-same-song / but the concert was great, always a sound blast, amazing gig with great edges but still with somewhat too much comfort zone... if anyone can remember of their very first gig in brussels at the botanique 'young team' period, or even the one one the cody period
Don't know how you can say they're repeating the same songs to be honest, even if you don't like their more recent albums, Every Country's Sun sounds absolutely nothing like Rave Tapes which sounds nothing like Hardcore Will Never Die which sounds nothing like The Hawk Is Howling. There is no similarity from one album to the next.
Technical malfunction. He plays forward and fades the volume in onbeat - here it looks like the volume pedal doesn't work as intended, at least for the clean bass mix for the Stream.
This drummer might have listened to Bonzo of Led Zeppelin (I could be wrong). The beat is sometimes very syncopated and just a bit ahead or behind the downbeat in a very planned "hovering" way. This is an incredibly stylized sort of drumming that in some ways reminds me of A Perfect Circle or Puscifer. Totally original in approach to percussion instrument playing and different on every song. I am a guitarist who appreciates good drummers. With such a complex overlay of instruments, their drummer has found a way to interweave with the vast Mogwai sound but still be very distinctive. I can see the love on the drummer's face when playing. It helps too that the engineering is so great and nothing gets lost in the mix.
At night, you're driving You don't know where you're going to But you keep driving And try as you might, time passes by You see two roads ahead of you A left or right And then you realize this road you're on Will never end These roads, you've seen before In one of your recurring dreams It seems where you are now Just maybe is another dream But rest won't come to you As you drive on and lose control The wheel spins faster now A left or right means nothing now In dreams. *Not sure how accurate this is *

Hi, I'm glad you have the same feeling as me ^^ As far as I understand, Dominic seems to use a volume pedal for this song. He strums the chords out of tempo and bring the sound in with the pedal at the right moment. For some reason the pedal doesn't seems to work / is not recorded in this version. I wonder if the sound we're hearing is the non-affected signal straight to the desk? It looks like he's swelling the volume but we're not getting the intended result
I noticed as well. Its not the first time, so I'm wondering if he meant to use a reverb pedal of some sort that times his notes one beat after he makes a stroke, and that he forgot to switch it on or something.

Stuart Braithwaite has a great taste in films. The Thing is an all time classic!
Really enjoyed this set. Lots of songs that blew me away, like 20 Size, Remurdered, and the chill inducing Every Country’s Sun. Awesome band. Cheers Mogwai and fans!!!
Dang!.... "Remurdered"... Oh my goodness... that twelve-string electric guitar, and Cat kicking it... such synergy!!!!
Thanks to your audio engineering team, Your videos have the best sound quality among YT vids. Thank you so much for sharing these gems.
GODBLESS
Born in Brussels, I'm proud to say that we probably have the best sound of Europe in that club. I've never been disappointed. Just perfection.
It's true, Ancienne Belgique videos are usually the best way to find out how a band really sounds live.
ouuu yeah dude
I'm 42 years old, seen and heard a lot of bands, these guys are in my top 10.
same and same
Thanks for the drummer! I was there and I felt like home! She's really good. Remurdered proves sh'e's awesome.
What a gig! Thank you. ;)
every country's sun is magic.
Kudos to Cat - her performance is absolutely on par with any of the official band members.
She's one beautiful human machine. Her drumming just blows me away.
@@sryburn641 Yeah, nothing better than a person with dedication. She really carries the band through every track, great performance.
@@KnorpelDelux agreed. She deserves respect in the music community. I’m going to check her out and see who all she’s worked with.
Mogwai: the loudest band I've ever seen in my life. Sternum rattling loud, Were amazing both times.
One of the only artists i've seen live. I was there, which is not something I can say often, but was really good. Should do it more often
I was there... but even on the footage the sound is incredible. That snare sound, the guitars and synths.... just perfect.
This is the best performance of Remurdered I’ve heard. I think it’s a tricky song to do live because it often sounds more uncertain, and you want the end to hit like an anvil - it does in this show.
fully agreed, this gets really aggressive and I love it.

One of my favourite bands. But the video certainly ends with a whimper rather than a bang.
This is phenomenal! Such a great live sound.
So glad they played 20 size, my favourite track off the new album.
Mine too

was there. such a good show
Amazinggggg x 100000000000❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
At every Mogwai concert, there is always one guy who screams "Christmas Steps!"
It's the indie/post rock equivalent of "Free Bird" lol
Lovely, wish they'd play how to be a werewolf more often
Thanks Mogwai ! Great show, great lights !
Awsome performance! Thanks for sharing!

An awesome performance.

"Remurdered" sounds like a Manchester shoegaze band from the 90s, Stone Roses maybe? Hypnotic. Awesome when the drums and keys kick in.
The Rano Pano.
cheers from Medellin col. top music!
EXELLENT live
Just saw mogwai in hamburg. Just a great show, thank you! Cat does a really good job backing up for Martin. Nevertheless, get well soon, martin!
What i didnt find out, who is the new guitarrist? He rocks.
Alex Mackay. Cat is a superb drummer too.
His name is Alex Mackay. He’s been filling in on keys and guitar for a little while now
This is love....
This is bliss
Does anyone know what John Cummings is up to? Where can we hear his tunes?
incredible...

The piece at 52:34 sounds like any number of pieces from John Carpenter's Lost Themes.

Hi, thank you for your comment. Are you watching on a mobile device or desktop? It is perfectly in sync right here.
Oh i´m totally sorry. It must be my crummy Desktop here then. Thank you for looking into this.
Still fantastic
Great music. Thank you. Whats the name of the last song please?

still worth going to their show, especially under influence of psychedelics
What's happening in 'every country's sun' ? Why is the bass going 1 beat faster?
Technical malfunction. He plays forward and fades the volume in onbeat - here it looks like the volume pedal doesn't work as intended, at least for the clean bass mix for the Stream.
Love
Can someone share the setlist? 😀
Crossing the Road Material is incredible.34:34
Amazing !!!
So cool, cheers from Argentina!!!
that part at @8:00 will never get old.
who's drumming and where did they put Martin?
Her name is Cat Myers from Honeyblood, another Glaswegian band. Martin fell ill just before the tour so she's touring with them.
Anton Hosek nice. Saw them open for Belle & Sebastian a couple years ago.

Is there anyone who knows the lyrics for "2 Rights..."?
At night, you're driving
You don't know where you're going to
But you keep driving
And try as you might, time passes by
You see two roads ahead of you
A left or right
And then you realize this road you're on
Will never end
These roads, you've seen before
In one of your recurring dreams
It seems where you are now
Just maybe is another dream
But rest won't come to you
As you drive on and lose control
The wheel spins faster now
A left or right means nothing now
In dreams.

During every country's sun why does dominic (the bass) play out of place? anyone know?
Hi, I'm glad you have the same feeling as me ^^

He strums the chords out of tempo and bring the sound in with the pedal at the right moment.

It’s a mistake with the board mix. At the actual gig that wasnt what happened. It’s to do with the mix coming from a bass pedal.
