Hey Paul, love the layout tour! As someone that lives near Watkins Glen, it does my heart so good to see my most local railroad being modeled in such a true-to-life fashion! I've been watching for a while and am still impressed every time I watch one of your videos. And I definitely agree that the Seneca Lake scene is such a prime section of your layout. Well done! Keep up the good work, my friend! Here's hoping that 2025 is a great year for you and your layout (and for the Free-Mo modules)! Also, I've seen 2201 in some of your previous videos and never realized that it was custom painted! Great work on that! Also also, I love the custom work on the gondolas - the 3D printed parts look like they are original to the gons and the first attempt at graffiti looks pretty sharp! I have plans to model some of those gondolas similarly in N!
You have a great layout that represent a part of the country, im watching you for quite a whyle and you always find a way to model the real scenes, you appply Boomesr techniques that great. best wisch for 2025 see you there
Nice layout. I can't wait to see what is next. Learning for other modelers is what makes the internet so great for our hobby. I've always loved the short lines and regional railroads.
Looks good! I like the fact that you are modeling New York. I’m originally from Buffalo and had an N-scale layout loosely based on the Buffalo area. Keep up the good work! It’s nice to see younger people are still into model trains!
Your modeling skill in incorporating your scenes with your photo backdrop is just FIRE! It really looks great! And I'm lovin' the views from that new-to-you video camera! Nice job putting together the video and keeping it interesting. I can't wait to see what you're putting together on your Fre-mo section! Happy New Year to you and the family!
Nice layout tour 👍 Lots of work done well worth it . Back drops look great bring the layout to live. Look forward to more progress in 2025. Thanks for sharing with us glad I came across the channel. Have a great rest of your day.
I’ve only just found your site but will be following from now on. A very nice layout and I’m looking forward to your future development. Great job. Robert
One of the best layout tours I've watched. Well explained, scenery is fantastic.. Just want to know is your wife involved? She must be incredible. When you can enjoy your hobby this much and she supports you-- you're a lucky guy. Take good care of her. Best to New Year.
Your ballast problem isnt a brand of ballast issue. Its a technique issue. When your ready to "fix" your ballast in place, use a mix of water and alcohol(I use 60/40 water to alcohol) and soak the ballast well. Once wet, use a 50/50 mix of water and elmers glue from a smaller glue bottle and drizzle it down the center of the track until it flows out of the ballast at the shoulder. Let it dry for a few days and it will be bullet proof
Happy new year Paul. Thanks for the tour. Your backdrops are beautiful. Sounds to me that you have a well thought out operating scheme. I have not been following you for long. Perhaps can we see some of the Fremo modules and video of operating sessions in the coming months. Cheers Ken 😀
Paul, the layout looks great as always. You have a lot to be proud of! Happy New Year, and I hope 2025 is chock full of more railroad related endeavors, no matter what layout you’re working on.
your layout is coming along good over the coarse of the year. always lots of more work to do. Have fun doing that free moe module. looking forward to more
You've come such a long way this year and it looks great. Getting to double digit ops sessions is quite an accomplishment! I appreciated the tour and CP maps. Not being familiar with the area, I was also following along on the railroads own system map to better understand where the towns are situated.
Beautiful work Paul! So glad I’ve started to get to know you this year! Hopefully soon I’ll be able to get up and see the layout in person, and run some trains. Looking forward to seeing you in January, and great work as always! Happy new year!
New subscriber as of Mid-2024 and very much enjoy your channel and sharing what you have done that you like and sharing what you change. Looking forward to your Free-MO work. Started into that myself this summer and loving it.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm looking forward to the Free Mo side of things as well. I should be putting out my first dedicated Free-Mo update some time in January. I just need to find some time to film it. Haha
I live up here. Himrod...........A bustling metropolis. I think their post office is in an old connex box. I love living here. The track looks great. Coming along.
Fantastic layout you got there Paul! Everything's shaping up quite nice. We'll have to get a more prototypically accurate Finger Lakes Ambulance structure created so that you dont need to cobble together some of the other kits :)
Your layout is very inspiring. The backdrops really create a realistic atmosphere and the operations plan is great. Looking forward to future progress on the layout! Happy New Year 🥳 and all the best for 2025.
Very nice video Paul, I have saved it for reference for the beautiful scenery in your select areas. I was just about to ask about the backdrops and checked your videos and another nice video on how to make those Mike
Wow 1st like and 1st comment!! what a great layout you have. To pick somthing on the layout I like the most that's really hard to do, if any thing could sum up the layout as a whole would have to be you and the amount of time you have put into the layout. Great job and cant wait to see what the next video will be!!.
Have you tried play sand from Home Depot? It's like 10 bucks for 30 lbs. You just draw out the iron with a magnet then glue the real rock down double check again with magnet , then weather it. I have a roofing manufacturing company that I was able to shove up 5 gal bucks of different colors for shingles then sifted it to N HO O grade size. Then I bagged what I didn't need and sold it off. Something to look at.
Interesting suggestion. Would this be for ground base, or for ballast that you're referring to? I have some brown grout from home Depot I've been using for my scenery base/dirt and it works well.
@@johnhenricks1024 thank you! Feel free to check out this video, where I go over the way I produce the banners. I didn't go over my mounting process for the backing but it's just mdf mounted to 1x1 supports
More space between Geneva and the Cayuga Causeway and between the Causeway and Auburn is definitely needed if there's ever an FGLK 2.0 Especially if the 3 industries in the Waterloo to Seneca Falls area could be added.
I made all my back drops myself, and had them printed at the local Walgreens. Here's a video on how I do it: ua-cam.com/video/g-ps5hj2MOA/v-deo.htmlsi=4Ou81lqGNeuoAfqb

It's not a technique issue. This is EXACTLY how I did my ballast. And it still floated. Walnut shell just isn't a good material for ballast.
