Love your channel! Best pronunication resource I've found yet. Some of these distinctions are quite subtle though for an English-speaker that's for sure 😅
Thank you very much for this kind comment. Yes, some of the pronunciation differences are subtle, but they are important to us native French speakers.

I didn't get it... 😅
Salut, Lexi, may I ask about these two words : déjeune et déjeuner, eu how to pronounce here? Merci beaucoup ☺️
Bonjour! Of course you can 😊. In those two words, EU has an open pronunciation [ɶ].
Je déjeune [ʒə de.ʒɶn] 🇫🇷 - 🇺🇸 I'm having lunch
Déjeuner [de.ʒɶ.ne] 🇫🇷 - 🇺🇸 to have lunch
Have a great Tuesday!
@@LearnFrenchwithLexie Merci . Lexi. Je suis d’accord avec toi. It is clear for me now . I was a little confused when I watches another channel. She explained EU , I quote “ Le dernier son de la syllabe est un son consonne , on a un /oe/ ouvert = déjeune ( i got this , no problem) but she told about “ j’ai déjeuné “ here “ Eu = /ø/ car dans le mot “ déjeuné “ le dernier son de la syllabé est le son /ø/ . And le même principe : le téléphone , o = /ɔ/, téléphoné, o=/o/ .
@@papachen5828 It is not incorrect. Both can be true. With open and closed vowels ([ø] & [œ], [e] & [ɛ], [o] & [ɔ]), the open sound can be pronounced with a closed pronunciation if it's not in the accented syllable. There is no fixed rule on that... It's up to the speaker to decide. I tend to pronounce them somewhere in between (not too open, not closed) when they're not in the stressed syllable. I hope it's clear 😊
@@LearnFrenchwithLexie thanks a lot . Lexi . You’re such a good teacher👍
@@papachen5828 Thanks a lot 🥰♥
FYI, I was talking when the open sound is the last sound of the (non accented) syllable. If the last sound of the syllable is a consonant sound, the open vowel sound remains open.
I want you to understand the letter so that I can understand what I am saying to the people❤

Inceidentally, 'both' 'o' is as in go or no ie /bəʊθ/ *not* like 'moth' /mɒθ/
I didn't get it... 😅
@@LearnFrenchwithLexie It's a song - sacre charlamagne (F Gall)
-the word 'both' doesn't rime with 'moth' as you say it in the video. Hope that helps!
@@adam_meek I don't think I've said that in this video, or any other video... 🤔
@@LearnFrenchwithLexie I must be getting deaf. I had in mind: 3:31
@@adam_meek Or it's my pronunciation 😉! But, you can activate the subtitles; I always write them myself to make sure they're accurate. 🫶✨
