Custom games is where I spent 90% of my Warcraft 3 time. Not micro wars, but hero wars, custom hero wars, summoner wars, X hero siege and such. I specifically didn't play DotA cause I was annoyed how the search window was always full of DotA that and DotA that games.
X Hero Siege was so fun, maybe everything being busted as hell was a factor. Even had an experience with an 8-player LAN party once. We were so bad! We came back a few years later to finish it off. Certainly an experience, and surprisingly balanced.
Hey grubby just wanted to say thank you for your amazing content, I recently got back into wc3 after a couple years due to my disappointment of its reforged. I had never played the multiplayer but after watching your videos and getting more relaxed with the game. I tried and so far I’ve won 2 out of my 5 placement games as Undead. Again thank you for your amazing content and attitude towards new people playing an older game like wc3😄
Wonder whether Grubby conscientiously evaluates maximising unit health vs dps in his regular games, and if not, this custome game shifted his approach :o
As far as I can tell, Grubby's logic is basically that the longer a unit is afield the more damage it can deal so optimizing unit health ultimately optimizes damage output as well (and monetary investment ofc)
@@tokevarvaspolvi8999 I can see that in most situations preserving units seems superior. In early game however I could see reducing micro to hit specific timers, or to intentionally sacrifice health on only one unit when you are up against sth. that will kill any mid-low health unit regardless of your doing (like kotg).
@@Aithful It's all situational of course. From my observation of Grubby though, early game is especially the time when he doesn't want to lose units because he needs them to take out creeps. Every camp killed is less XP, gold and items for the opponent. While one could argue that it's better to concentrate on the speed of damage output there but more the units, the faster you can take the harder camps with more XP and better items. It all depends on your playstyle of course, multiple approaches can be valid, I'm just describing how I think Grubby tends to do it.

I myself came aboard around 18 months ago when he was having his epic meme challenge arc where he'd do ridiculous audience requests like cover the whole map with blight or fell every tree, etc. If you look at the currently on-going Bronze League Heroes series, he's cracking jokes all the time
