I've been under the impression that the keeled scales towards the tail are a defender mechanism. As they "run away" from a predator, if they're to get grabbed by the tail they can pull it quickly which could potentially hurt whatever is trying to get it
I have a baby KSB she’s only about 6 ish inches long. I’ve only just started handling her this week. She didn’t eat for a couple weeks after I got her but she has taken 2 meals in a row now and I feel likes she’s settling in. Handled her 3 times and she’s bitten me each time that I’ve taken her out but then settled right down. I’m looking forward getting her to come around. She’s pretty great now and I’m sure that the more I work with her and the more she matures we’ll be good buddies. As always thank you for this video and for your library of videos. I appreciate what you are doing.
Great video, Can you do a video on the boiga irregulars you have in stock and the dangers of even mildly venomous snakes such as boiga and toxicodryas.
Been a while since I commented, you are a boat load of information. Wish you were in the States... Hope you keep up the good work. If I ever make it to your side of the Lake, I'm gonna come and visit...
I own 3 KSBs and they're great snakes.. I have an anery female, nuclear (line-bred high orange) female, and a male that is an dodoma cross albino het anery. The two females have clam temperaments. The male, who is just a baby, is very fond of musking.. The only snake I've got that has ever musked me in fact. I have had good success with shedding when I keep a humid hide box filled with damp moss in their tub. Otherwise, I keep them on aspen bedding.
@@steverocksyo All snakes are individual personalities. My cal king never has bitten or musked on me. He's great. And then you have kings that just bite or musk out of nothing.

Do they have individual personalities with regards to biting? Have they all tagged you before? Does the one still musk?

Cath loves these, I think they are shifty. good vid
Never knew about the scales.
Great video! The scientific names seem to constantly change, your video did a great job of sorting that out. I have lots of sand boas. such a unique
Species!!!
Nice one Chaz. Looks a bit like a very overweight rainbow boa that's had a tail amputation!
It was a toss up between a KSB or a hognose as 1st snake, unfortunately the hognose won.
What do you mean unfortunately?? I have 3 they are great snakes......
@@jeffn9368 simply time and space only meant for one snake. The sand boas are still cool little snakes
NICE SNAKE
I want one one day
Do an episode Charina bottae!
Can they be kept in pairs
Is that an adult female?
