As a teenager in the 70s, my dates and I found that having a nice ice house sure was a huge upgrade from the back seat of my Chevelle. Sometimes I even used it for fishing.
😂😊
I too remember that smell 🐟 👧
Legendary
😂😂😂😂
Kelso?
Your going to need to get rid of that vent free propane heater. It puts out 1 pint of water for every gallon of Propane it burns.
After your done cleaning the slush out of your holes, take the bucket of slush and splatter it where your back tires will be when you would be ready to hook up and leave the area. This splattered slush will re freeze and create traction for your rear tires. The tires on your fish house will get sunk in with flooding and the snow you used to bank the house. The refrozen slush will save you a headache in the future when you want to hook up and leave. I also throw some slush outside the entry door, so there is no one slipping going in and out of the fish house. Congratulations on the new house!
Good tip brother 👍
how can anyone like fishing this much. i don't get it
@@cagneybillingsley2165 You don't need to get it, just find something you enjoy doing and do it. It would be a boring world if everybody enjoyed doing the same thing to the same level.
It would be really nice to show us what Ice Shanty looks like from the outside!
He doesn’t want anyone stealing his spots
I agree something is 'fishy' about not showing the outside!!!!
@Don Mordecai .. *Listening is Fundamental* .. lol .. I'm sure they just missed it @ 13:49
Sobi: you mentioned the beauty of a cold winter morning. I totally agree. In the mid to late 70s I was working in Black River Falls, WI. On one January morning, as I left my motel room, it was sunny, clear, crisp, calm and -40 degrees below zero without the wind chill. Any moisture in the air was frozen and glistened like mini rainbows in sky. So beautiful, so awesome, such a memory. What an amazing morning and my car even started. I was truly blessed to experience such a day of God’s breath taking creation. Stay safe! God Bless!
That is a cool memory, well said again Larry!
Man I’m Florida boy born n raised, grew up fishing way off shore to the bank of a lake or pond. Never been ice fishing always wanted to. Had a few guys I use to work on the road with from Minnesota we’re supposed to take me a couple years ago but Covid ruined that! If I had one of these shanty’s, I’d be in that thing butt naked fishing!
Now that is one nice ice "shack"! A former co-worker of mine and his brothers pooled their money and bought a setup similar to yours. However, they aren't into ice fishing. They use it as a snowmobile camp. They figure out what area they want to ride their sleds for the winter and then find a body of water to set up their "camp" on. Cheaper than buying the land and stick & brick camp; plus their "camp" can be easily moved if they want to explore a different area.
Thanks fir supporting the independent bait and gas stations. Keep the $$ in the local economy.
A quality first aid kit, a small fire extinguisher and I’m assuming you have a small tool kit. But if not, those are the three things I never leave home without. Especially on excursions like this.
cut down a couple pool noodles to about 15'' in length. Screw them to your wall where you fish and hang your most used lures from them. Quick and easy access for you. Also always point your ice house in the direction you need to leave the lake on. That way if it gets blown in you don't have to worry about making a turn on the lake in deeper snow to get off.
That's awesome that you pulled the trigger on not just a new shack, but support local shops. My kid talks about ya every time he sees you when you stop in and give support to his work
First aid kit, good cast iron pan 16 inch for big families, 12 for 2! Max flow exhaust fan, shoe rack/box.
Creature comforts when you're ice fishing are MOST welcome. I recently gave all my ice fishing equipment to a younger man. I figured 50 years of it was enough for me.
First time coming across your video... I'm from northern BC Canada.. Grew up in a fishin hut... We had a good first aid, mini fridge (or use the snow outside) blankets, extra propane, change of clothes, tool box.... Great video man!
This is awesome. Congratulations you guys! You've got the co detector and the backup heat source which are important. Keep your propane tanks warm in the real cold temps like we've been having. If it's not too terrible out, I wrap mine with moving blankets. Otherwise you can buy plug in tank warmers through Northern Tool, Amazon etc. Lastly, always make sure wherever the forced air furnace exhaust is outside is facing away from the wind. If the exhaust is facing the wind, it will blow the exhaust back into the house and you'll have co building up in the house. Tight lines Sobi and Steph!
Awesome tips and suggestions, thank you so much for your comment Marcus!
How about co detector not co2
I am so glad for you guys the smiles on your faces tells the whole story super stoked for you guys👍💯
Thank you so much!
Oh man. I moved away from the midwest 35 years ago. You going into the local gas and bait shop really hit home. Very nostalgic, especially with Edgar Winter Group - Free Ride playing in the background. I'll be heading over to do some Ice fishing in Michigan and the next few weeks. I'll be sure to share your videos with my knuckleheads. We need to upgrade our fishing accomodations asap. We are using a tent and kerosene heaters. lol.
Ice Fishing, Playing Cribbage and watching Hella Live on the big screen, pretty sweet setup
Love it! I told my son Sobi got a fish house and he immediately went to watch the video. He also proceeded to tell me we need to buy a few of the rattle reels!! Great stuff as always and Steph may need to help us all with Crappie tips! :)
Guy idk why but I LOVE ice fishing videos more than any other on any UA-cam fishing channels. I ice fish all the time here in Vermont but there’s nothing like morning coffee and ice fishing videos to get you in the right frame of mind for the day 🙌🏻🎣
Ok I gotta say that coffee pour had me desperately waiting for tomorrow morning! Just by watching that short second already made me feel satisfied
Love your passion, I love hearing people get so excited about fishing and the memories that come with it, congrats and have a great time!
The best way to ice fish is to keep moving. Hard to do with a house on the ice.
Great find! Previous owner took great care of it. Many years of enjoyment for you both. Cheers!
lmao "...its -8. seems like some of the coolest mornings are the calmest." no shit everything that moves is dead or sleeping!
And did i see a cooler with a fish tank air pump to keep your bait alive? amazing!
Best case scenario too! thoughtfully customized by the seller for the same use as the buyer. Seller did custom work with THEIR experience in mind, meaning no cut corners(eg moose lanterns and tv with the nice full swivel wall mount). Seller put their heart and soul into it and it moving on to either upgrade or because of life changes/situations etc
and BRILLIANt on releasing the best specimens instead of keeping them! Obviously that leaves those genes in the lakes genepool to breed big fish.
Topping it all off you posit an idea that i've never considered; a cold weather ice fishing trailer can double as a year round camper trailer! Amazing!
Congrats on the fish house Sam!, next step is to run LED strips around the inside of the whole thing, they are great for hanging out after dark and very low energy to run
Sam Sobi is an ice fishing legend and now his arsenal is unmatched 🤙🏼
AGREED BRO!!
Not bad, but there's still room for upgrades. Try looking at solar panels and an AC inverter system to get rid of the generator. Works real slick for my little ice cabin
As we get older things that used to seem like luxuries become more like necessities. Being comfortable makes for better memories and gets you out doors longer and more often. Enjoy your new shack. 🐟🎣👍
That ice house 🔥🔥🔥 this is just the start of epic content!! I can’t wait to see what’s next!!!
Dream setup man, congratulations. As much as I love my insulated pop up I realize this year I also want the comfort and amenities of a nice ice houses.
One thing to take note. Don't leave the bucket of fish in the shack with you if you stay over night. The fish will go bad. I did it 2 years ago when I kept 30 fish over 3 days of fish went home and told my dad and he said most them were bad from sitting in 60⁰+. Awesome looking fish house
Nice setup Sam! Congrats. Love your videos. Especially ice fishing ones. Can’t wait to see the outside.
I have an old bob-house from when I used to fish with my father as a kid. Looking to restore and refinish it as a clubhouse for my two boys. Lots of ideas seeing yours. Great video.
You are starting to aquire a very nice group of toys. Truck, wheeler, boat, shack. Not to mention your awesome cabin on a lake. Can't wait to see what you get next. Keep working hard man, you're killing it.
You had me at decorative moose lights.....
😂😂
Yes they do. !!!! The one with the zip tie on it is the one that goes taller out front
That CO detector down low like yours is mounted is the key. CO is heavier than air so a combo fire/CO alarm up on the ceiling is stupid. Once CO gets up there everyone is already dead. Make sure to always keep one but set it up low!!
I've never been ice fishing and only been camping once in a tent . I've always wanted to go ice fishing and this would be PERFECT for me haha. Hopefully someday I get the chance. Awesome ice house!
That's awesome man congrats on the purchase and it will be interesting to see the content your able to create.
Congrats on the new ice house! Can’t wait to see all the content. From the best utube film maker there is! I’m in Maryland and have never ice fished, want to try it so bad it looks like it’s a blast!!
Good for you...looks great. Spent years in northern Minnesota...lived on the lake...and the ice houses make a small village all winter long out on the ice. It's fun to be out there good weather or bad.
You were 1000% right on the Mom n Pops. We are losing small business everywhere and it sucks. I try to buy stuff even if i dont need it. A twenty may not mean much to me but it helps their bottom line
Lol buying stuff when u don’t need it to help out the business 🤦♂️
Awesome house Sobi! Happy for you two! For an idea you could put a microwave where you have the box of chips. Thanks for sharing!
Great purchase Sam. Enjoy!! Great video as always.
congratz on the house. Looks like it will be perfect for what you are planning to do!!
Nice house! We love ours but it’s got a wood stove in it for the heater 👌🏼 Can’t wait to see more videos in the shack! Love from 🇨🇦
That ICE SHACK Is so SICK!! Congrats on that SOBI, Can't wait for all the videos out of the shanty!!
Thanks Extreme Outdoorsmen, how’s the Ice out your way?
Awesome shack! Those were some hammer crappie can't wait to watch your winter videos in the new ice shack! Wishing we got good ice for more than a few weeks a year where I live!
First time seeing your videos. Very well shot! Enjoying so far!
Sammy living his best life. Congrats man!
Awesome addition buddy!! You will definitely be enjoying it for years to come for sure!! I’m definitely excited to see some videos out of your new home away from home!!! Lol!! Remember Sobi keep up all the hard work buddy!!!!
Thanks JJ and happy days!
Dry goods pasta, tinned food etc
Small cleaning supplies like hotel soaps and stuff.
First aid kit for sure !
Start a junk draw, scissors, candles, few rolls of tape, fuses, light bulbs extra blankets.
Toilet paper garbage bags.
Cooking oil, dish soap.
The usual crap you always forget camping lol.
I am most impressed with your comment about buying local! Good man!!!!
Congratulations on your ice house . I hope it serves you well for a long time
Thanks Ron, hope you’re having a great
The main thing I’m concerned about with wheel houses is that I just can’t leave it on a lake for any length of time. I know one guy that has his south of the cities and it was broken into a couple times. Once, they just ruined the door completely. He told me his buddy left his on Circle or near there and went out to it but there wasn’t one there! He never did get it back. If I were to haul it to and from but not leave it at a lake, I’d be ok with that. All that said, I like the layout of your house. Have fun! So nice to have an insulated house!!!
People suck
@@jimmykav44 absolutely. Not all but the ones that do, REALLY SUCK!!
Congrats on a fun and clearly great purchase! I miss ice fishing and have not gone in many years. I need to try and squeeze some in when I am in Michigan this winter.
Congrats sobi! Not gonna lie, I'm jealous lol I'll be lucky if I ever get to purchase something like that. Until then I'll have to stick to my old one man shack and heater. Oh, and good job steph on landing that slab and a half! Nice fish! Tight lines you two!
Any one of those fish would've made a great wall mount trophy as a conversation piece.
Just saw this reccomended video. Seeing that ice shack made me a new subscriber. Looking forward to seeing some walleye or muskies pulled in. Very well designed. Great investment.
And thus the Legendary steph the greats legend grows
What can I say but WOW. I've never seen an ice fishing shanty at this level. I'm jealous lol. I'm sure that you'll enjoy that little house. Congrats on the purchase.
Grats man. Very cool fish shack. Glad for ya. Another great video
Congrats on the shack! One thing you two could think about is a smaller portable grill. We use one constantly when we're camping. Ours is a Coleman. I can't remember the exact model. It folds flat and has legs that pop out so you can stand and grill. It's not a "table top" style like the older ones. You can also hook it to a 20# tank but it runs on the 1# tanks as well.
Plastic forks/ spoons and paper plates and bowls makes it so much easier
Congrats! Looks very similar to ours. We also bought ours from a very experienced guy. You are going to love it!
Favorite bait shop by far in the state of Minnesota is Steve's lucky bait. RIP Steve we miss ya!!! Best scoop of shiners in the state....
Congratulations to you both! Super cool!
I've never been ice fishing .. your cabin makes it very appealing .. *Congratulations*
Wheelhouse owner tip#1: buy a quality set of tire chains for the tow vehicle. Worth their weight in gold.
I’ve only just started this video but the fact that your not bragging about StarBucs new w/e and supporting local mom n pop franchises.. I’ve now subscribed to your Chanel
Congrats, Steph!
Awesome for you and Steph! Sweet setup brother!
Dude I love your vids I’ve been watching for 3 years straight and honestly just love the hell out of the vids! Favorite UA-camr I’m from MN and an angler myself so love watchin keep it up sobi!
Sugar free
Italian sweet cream
Up State NY here just cold enough to get on the ice...... But nothing like you boys in the great white north.... Love the fish house videos.
Stay safe,Stay warm and keep the great videos coming. Thanks
this has been one hole popping, hole hopping crazy video and u and ur sister steph are so cool!🐠
Never having lived in such a cold climate, I would feel apprehensive driving on the ice like that. I realize it’s fine it’s just outside of my experience. 🙂
He removed his seat belt before driving on the ice in case it wasn't fine.
I haven't seen a fish and bait place like that since I lived in Louisiana and Texas, decades ago.
I like them.
Congrats. Looks very nice and very practical n functional.
Miss my ice castle. Nothing like being able to sit back get comfortable while making memories!
Great setup! Envy.
Super cool! Someday I’ll have one.. but those big crappies inspired me to get after it tomorrow!
Don’t ask me how I stumbled on this video. Glad so did lol. I’m smiling on how happy you are with the new ice shack.
Congratulations
You have it going on man✌️nice fish house 🥶happy fishing 🙏
I know you’re close to home, but throw a heat gun in your tool bag when headed for the shack. The regulators can be tricky in the MN tundra! Congrats bud!
This guy was on red lake New Years with that advice lol!
Awesome tip, thanks T Hill
A man was out fishing on the ice one afternoon, when suddenly, from above him, he hears, "no fish are down there!" He looks around, doesn't see anyone, so he returns to ice fishing. The voice from above says, "I said, no fish are down there!" The man looks up, says, "Is that you, God?" The voice says, "no, I'm the ice rink manager, I'm telling you, no fish are down there!"
Congrats on the new fish shack dude. It will make for some wonderful memories!
Greetings from Maine, can’t wait to see this channel blow up! Thanks for the content!!
I haven't ice fished for twenty years this is perfect I love it
I don't fish at all, haven't held a fishing pole since I was a kid. So this was educational for me. Thanks.
This is one of the most Minnesotan videos on UA-cam. Throw in some hotdish and a game of duck duck grey duck and it would be sponsored by the tourism board.❤ Having grown up there, it makes me want to spend a few weeks back there fishing
cribbage must be a northern thing haha my grandparents play every night
Liked it b4 i watched it. Keep up the 🔥 vids sobi. Killin it!!!!
Cribbage man, my grandfather was from St. Paul. Some of my best memories with him are playing cribbage.
What a great fish house!! Congrats on your new purchase!!!
So true about bait shops man!! That’s where good people go!! Awesome videos. Just found you, keep them coming!!
Congrats looks like your hard work is paying off. Set of corn hole boards with your logo on for them nice sunny days on the ice. A seasoning rack for your cooking segments. Can you hook a fish finder into the TV screen?
Looks like you’re all set. Walleye, crappie, and sunnies in the same spot. That’ll do!
very cool, congrats on your new purchase, awesome job on the hawg crappies
Wow that's nicer than some people's homes.
You didn't point out that handy-dandy paper towel holder installed up and out of the way. I love little "hacks" like that. The smile on your face says it all. Congrats. Enjoy!
