- Today on Hermitcraft Season 9 from the Empires 2 SMP, we continue to Spread the Sculk, reaching new dimensions, new empires, and new corners of Hermitopia. We also build up the Hermitopia tower (to sculkify it of course), and fight some Withers with @xisumavoid, @MythicalSausage, @iJevin, and @TheOrionSound.

I always like it, too. He messes with people, but he's also pretty considerate. He's mostly pretty harmless imo. That and his ability to grind is why he's one of my favorite hermits.

so nice to see it least one hermit enjoying colabs with the empires sever and participating I was pretty disappointed in the other hermits not doing it least something with the sever before they left what was the whole point of this sever collab if no one was doing anything with the others it the same thing I noticed in the Hermit craft sever colabs were very few and in between when day one of season 9 and previous seasons had a Simler promises I think 4 out of 9 seasons their been very Littel collabs when day one that was the Gole so nice work cub.

Starting to think cub’s lore is tied to the end of empires season given just how much he’s doing- I feel like this goes beyond a simple prank because of how much effort will have to be put in to remove the skulk

now that I think about it a lot of the empires builds seem to be getting close to completion… it’s only been around five months though, I thought Empires seasons were just slightly shorter than the average HC season?

I disagree, I think the sculk stuff is to progress the next part of the Empires storyline once the Hermits leave.

Anytime someone wants to talk to you you should prefer to stand on sculk. “Ope, just a sec” break ground to place sculk
My mans wouldn't stop at making a unique biome, no - he wants to convert the whole universe into a single sculk biome.

I love this skin, i think sculk should spread on your skin gradually, say each 1000 catalysts you get sculkificated abit more
Cub I have watched your videos for years now. I even discovered Hermitcraft from your channel before you joined it when fans started commenting how you should be on it. My children once fell asleep at night to the soothing sound of your voice, and now today I sit here with my GRANDCHILD slipping into her nap while dozily listening to you (My older kids are in their 20s, the younger one now a teenager)...
Watching you come from that AMAZING solo world where you built quintuple spider grinders, automatic firework shows, working cinemas, a space shuttle to a space station, and made an entire ravine into a rainbow to this mischievous, crazy but friendly redstone scientist and creative builder has just filled me such awe and respect! You Sir are a top-tier entertainer. Thank you for all the years and here's hoping for so much more yet to come!!
I just realise the irony of how in the beginning of crossover, Cub actually join Katherine monsters slayers club with Pearl and Impulse.
And Katherine create the club to combat the darkness that slowly engulfing her Empire.
And here we are... Cub, one of her allies, to be the first one who got infected by the sculk that come from the deep dark.
I'm not sure whether to be scared or impressed by the dedication you've shown to spreading the sculk... maybe both? 😆 But dang it does add a nice sparkle to everything-
I love that you saw your chance with this crossover and took it! I’m a little disappointed in the lack of…I don’t know, really. From the other hermits. I guess I just thought they’d follow through a little more on the stories, I guess, that they set up at the beginning of the crossover. I feel like a lot of people just kinda…disappeared? I think I just wanted to see more interactions and more integration of the story between the two servers. Maybe my expectations were just not very realistic. Oh well. I am glad to see you’re doing the opposite though!! You’re doing exactly what I wanted to see from the others too. Love how you even tied it to Shelby’s story as well!! You have one of the best arcs of this crossover, along with False!
To all those complaining that Cub is “going to far” and needs to “stop it”, remember that the hermits have discussions regarding stuff like this that affects the entire server.
I am sure that the other hermits were already aware and are okay with it. If there were concerns/restrictions, Cub has already been made aware of it by the hermits.
But isn't it also meant to be entertaining to the viewer. So us having input as an interested party is still important

I've seen some comments on the bird app lately about fans of other players being upset about your "destruction and griefing". Might want to ask others to remind their followers that storylines like this are agreed to in advance, before the discontent gets out of hand. I have no clue where this is going. But, so far, it's interesting. 🤠👍
Okay, thanks. I was wondering about this. I could imagine that this prank is really frustrating when you’re wanting to build nice things. But then I imagined that such big things must be agreed upon to avoid drama in content that is supposed to be wholesome and are helping people to escape reality.
To any HC followers not used to Empires, please don't be worried about the damage Cub is doing. Empires Season one also had very similar agreed upon infestations (in that case it was demon tentacles). The Empires folx don't often break the 4th wall, but any damage done to bases is worked out among them as they are planning their storylines.
Please also know that Timmy/Jimmy/Woody is also not being actually bullied. He is encouraging the toy story arc and even monetizing it with his own Woody the sheriff plushie. His channel thrives on that content and other empires members have said on livestreams that they check in with him to ensure all the storylines aren't actually hurtful.
I'm loving Cub's evil laughter. He's definitely making the most of his visit to the Empire server.🥰
To bring the deep dark even more to the surface, building deep dark city ruins in people's bases or in the areas between people's bases would be cool
Imagine if Cub finds the Skulk machine Pix made at the beginning of the Empires season.

The sculk under the mob farm is going to break X's wool farm. The sculk is going to replace the grass which in turn is going to break the farm.

Cub made a Warden farm off camera, he's made one before on Hermitcraft, and the last few seconds of the last episode show the farm IIRC.

I wish I had a skin like yours. The Sculk gloves and growths is what I hoped we’d seen on more mobs than just the Warden. Maybe someday.
I watched xisumas video before yours and it looks like some hermits are fighting against the skulk. Which is a real shame. #spreadtheskulk
I feel like this prank is some gray area stuff that borders on griefing.
Yes it took Cub a LOT of time to farm and place that many Catalysts, but it might take all the server members even longer to clean up the mess.
Empires is used to this level of chaos in the name of lore. Last season it was giant demon tentacles lol. I’m sure all parties are coordinating the plot line progression :)

@@zachwillett5853 the hermits have stated before that all pranks that could be considered "going too far" have been discussed beforehand and given the okay :) so dw, it's all in the name of fun. if it wasn't okay with everyone, it wouldn't be happening. and cub's thing w/ the sculk specifically is likely a pre-planned plot point in the lore.
@@zachwillett5853 iirc skulk only turns natural blocks into skulk (like smooth stone, grass, etc). while player-crafted blocks like planks, concrete, etc. just get covered with the veins. So when the storyline is over most of the blocks will just have to have the skulk veins taken off and any blocks that turned into actual skulk will be pretty easy to replace. Worst case scenario, I bet there are multiple backups of their builds that can be used to restore them to their normal state

Now that there's catalysts in the end, would the huge amount of XP dropped by the dragon spread tons of skulk?
This comment contains a lot of words so I left a little summary at the end of the minecraft world, I mean comment in case you don't want to read it all.
At ~2.147 billion levels only spreads about an area of 2 to 3 chunks at most, and ~2.147 billion levels is the point where the game turns anymore levels into ~2.147 billion, like everything else from height, damage done by commands, etc. as the game can't comprehend anymore levels, like everyother game. Seeing as the ender dragons only drops 12k xp the first time, enough to go from level 0 to level 68, and if you resseruct the dragon, it only drops 500 xp, I'd say it would be underwhelming. Mojang might of fixed this in the ~6 months I learned this, but no one is getting past ~21,000 levels without commands because even I can't with commands in bedrock. The 2 billion levels were achieved through Java edition, but the commands gave me ~2.147 times ~16 billion xp ~60 times a second and it would not budge. Hope this helps.

To actually answer this question, sculk catalysts don’t pick up the death of the dragon, so it doesn’t spread any sculk at all.

I fear that the sculk spread may be a bit too much, I'm a bit afraid that some player might find it annoying, I hope that everyone else knows the lore or something like it
I'm sure cub had full permission from the server members. As much as we all love shenanigans we know that nothing on the servers is intended to harm peoples builds, work, or stories.
It was inevitable, as Grain used Sculk blocks for Grumbot.
Jimmy seems to not know the lore at all, on stream yesterday, but he also specifically avoids spoilers.
Considering the build up with the fog corrupting cub, him wearing a skulk skin, not hiding the fact that this is his doing, and this being a more rp based server I'm pretty sure this all leading up to something for the empires folk to play with storywise.
Although I'm not sure if they realized to what extent cub has spead the skulk :'D he's doing the forces of darkness proud?

Cub , you might want stop with this because this is starting to go beyond the line of “fun harmless prank” to “annoying griefing that ruins the server in a bad way”.
I was quite the fan at first, but the community reactions to this have started to sour quite a bit.(I also agree this is bit too much)Some people have become quite annoyed and don’t like what you are doing.
Seriously, if this continues to escalate further, I fear you may risk losing a good chunk of views and subscribers like what happened to Fwip when he had his villian story in empires S1.
I feel like that's the risk of playing the villain.
But like, if it were genuinely a problem for the people actually playing on the server, they'd probably just tell him to cut it out. But if they're cool with spinning it into story stuff, there's no harm here.
As far as viewer reactions, I'm sure Cub thought about that before doing it, or at least before escalating. Being the bad guy means some people watching aren't going to like it. That's just how it is. But this is an improv server and having a temporary bad guy gives things to react to.
Personally I think Cub is hired by Bdouble and Gem (secretly) and skulk forces people to sleep

Infinite skulk generators that are visible from some of the empires and the tower, but far enough out not to grief?

This is giving me heavy Spider-Man 3 vibes... a drastic change that gives power to the hero but comes at a cost. I think that Cub will tear it off in a few episodes, much like what happened in the movie.
There's pranks, and then there's griefing of other player's builds. This crosses the line. I have just come here after viewing Pixlriff's latest video and I have to say I feel genuinely angry at the amount of damage your placing of sculk has done to his ancient city build and his great bridge. For months now I have watched Pix's livestreams as he built his beautiful creations, and the amount of damage you have caused in the name of "storytelling" is disrespectful of another builder, to say the least. Not happy Cub.

The skulk does annoy me, I know it's agreed upon with everyone on the server. I like the building and I think that's one of the best things about Empires and Hermitcraft, but the skulk destroys it all in mere minutes. It's annoying to watch

Professor Cub just likes to pick an unknown, more obscure aspect of the game, which is easiest when new tech is added, and illustrate it to the server and fans. In this latest example, it's "skulk spreading." He likes teaching us. He is Professor Cub.
