      It sounds like you’re standing firm in your self-respect, which is admirable. Stoicism aligns with this mindset-invest your energy where it’s valued, and let go of what you can’t control. Staying true to your principles shows strength. How does it feel to take this stand for yourself?

    Interesting video. I used the silent response and never never looked back even though the person sought me out. That is: No contact forever! Nostalgia may set in after a long time, even decades after breakup. The nostalgia part is a good inspiration if one wants to reconnect, but knowing that the period you shared together is forever gone, since both have taken different paths and have families of their own. One just lives with the good shared memories….we can’t have everything we want in life; certain things are not meant to be , even if it hurts a lot.
    Courage and strength to all who are struggling.

      Your insight reflects Stoic wisdom-cherishing good memories while accepting the reality of change. As Marcus Aurelius said, “Accept whatever comes to you woven in the pattern of your destiny.” How do you turn nostalgia into a source of peace rather than longing? 😊

      @carmenkamberos1156 Місяць тому +1

      You asked: How do you turn nostalgia into a source of peace rather than longing?
      There’s longing alright for something that could have been but didn’t. One tries tolook at it with acceptance and gratefulness. It was a good relationship. , and I’m happy something beautiful passed my way. Good things just last enough to become unforgettable.

    • @stoicharmonyus
      @stoicharmonyus  Місяць тому +2

      That’s a beautiful way to see it-accepting and being grateful for the beauty of what once was, without letting it consume the present. Cherishing the memories while finding peace in their impermanence is a powerful act of strength. 🌟

    I took this one step further, I simply blocked the person on my phone because I was tired of all the BS including them lying to me and especially lying to themselves. It’s simple one and done. I won’t even know if they tried reaching out or not. Don’t care anymore.

      @ I agree I’m not blocking the person anymore I just don’t recognize her anymore because the actual blocking was putting more emphasis on her existence in my life whereas I just don’t care to interact anymore. If you understand what I’m trying to say? One involves active engagement whereas the other involves no engagement because I no longer care, i.e. releasing the past and moving on, if that makes sense.

    When you are ghosted, the person ghosting you is actually saying I don't respect you,. Your feelings don't matter to me. You are not important to me. So why should I stay with someone who devalues me? Not me. I block them, turn into a real ghost and walk away with my self esteem, self image and self respect intact.

As a result I decided to no longer go where I am not wanted. In short I had given up hope. Having listened to many of your suggestions i think it’s worth another try. After listening to the whole thing and contemplating, learning from the places my mind travelled to while listening i’m shocked- troubled- reading the comments.
    Why? Because it seems most posts are dealing with people’s children or mentioning their romantic relationships. And in my mind while listening I heard mostly about business, friends, and coworker relationships that could’ve managed better. Very little ‘romantic’ relationship applications crossed my mind. If one has a more ‘intimate’ relationship in which the need for catastrophic profound silence arises the YOU are the problem for letting it get that “complicated.”
    Just my opinion.
    George Washington wrote, “be courteous to all, intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence.” Few words but naked truth.

    I still believe in bursting out what I may be feeling and walking away in silence. This is not
    doing it for him but doing the favor to myself bcoz I do not want to keep bottled feelings.
    I make sure I got the last words that will be buried in his mind forever!
    Once I turn my back on someone I never look back no matter how they chase me to go back.
    Quite recently I wrote to a man and disclosed what I felt about him and walked away. He's
    leaving the city where we are and said my farewell! I'm moving on now but at least I don't
    have to keep bottled feelings about him. If we're fated to meet again then it's destiny. I
    can always look straight into his eyes painless and confident.

      You expressed yourself, walked away, and freed yourself from "what ifs"-that’s true strength. Stoicism isn’t about bottling emotions but mastering them, and you did just that. If fate brings you together again, you’ll meet with confidence, not regret. Do you feel lighter now?

    Actually, I silenced myself after finding out that she had started a relationship with another man. She wasn't making a decision to commit to either one of us. So I walked away. It was never easy. But it was the best decision for all of us. Since when was making the right decision easy?

    I just think that speaking out is better way. It depends on what has happened. But as long as there is no mental/physical violence i think speaking out is best thing you can do in a relationship. I know people who have ended up in hospital because of silent treatment. I think silent treatment is abusive. People make mistakes. They can grow emotionally in a relationship. Always speak through.. its unfair to leave someone you love in silence. I can tell them what they have done wrong or that they hurt me. People deserve open conversation. I hate social media. Blocking and ingnoring the loved ones. Traumatising..

      That’s a powerful mindset to embrace! 🌟 As the Stoics remind us, “The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way” (Marcus Aurelius). Every challenge you face can become a stepping stone for growth.
      What’s the first thing you’re hoping to learn or explore on this journey? 🙌

    The last one hit me home. Everything makes sense. Im going to use this on my friend that i have always been strong friends with for 6 years, and now, after something changes, she gives me the silence treatment. We have so many memories to help her get them on her mind and have to work on others to make her want me instead.

    • @stoicharmonyus
      @stoicharmonyus  29 днів тому +1

      I'm glad the last part resonated with you! It sounds like you care deeply about your friendship. Focus on staying true to your values and communicating openly-remind her of the connection you’ve built without chasing. If she values the bond, she’ll come around. What's one step you feel ready to take to start rebuilding? 😊

    • @charlesfuglie2491
      @charlesfuglie2491 29 днів тому

      @stoicharmonyus is less of a chase. I will ask ever so often if she wants to do something but is willing to hang out or plan too. But for now, I will just start playing with her mind and start with all the memories we have together and use as a key. We have concerts that we have gone to and our long drives we have done together and hikes together.

    • @stoicharmonyus
      @stoicharmonyus  29 днів тому

      Using shared memories is a meaningful way to reconnect without chasing. Stoicism encourages us to focus on our actions and let go of what we can't control. By reaching out with intention and respecting her space, you honor both your friendship and your own well-being. What memory do you think will resonate most with her? 😊

    • @charlesfuglie2491

      @stoicharmonyus i the memories most that will get her back is us making cookies with her mom, and we burnt some, and after we all got done, she sent home almost all the burnt one home with me.
