I have long said that if family and friends saw the way some people conduct themselves it would have an effect on people and their actions. This is a prime example. The board members kept a rein on themselves until Jeff left the room and then their true selves came out. I loved Jeff coming back in the room, announcing he had been trespassed and that one voice that said, "he left his phone in here." The moment when they realized they had been recorded saying what they would not say to his face...priceless! Keep shining the spotlight on these people and revealing their true character.
Where is the rest of the video. Watched the whole thing and didn't see him come back to get his stuff???

Not just policy, but LAW. Florida has statues requiring meetings to be open to the public. You can't just "trespass" someone from them because you don't like him.
Grade School children know more about the Constitutional and Civil Rights of the people than these Board Members and the staff.

Jeff, I’m constantly amazed by your willingness to “make GOOD TROUBLE” (a direct quote from the late Maryland Congressman [7th District] Elijah Cummings) for all citizens to be educated on our CIVIL LIBERTIES! The City of Orlando has a long and fierce reputation of hostility towards the homeless and those deemed “undesirable” in their city parks and public facilities. I’m happy to see your firm pushback against these “elitists.”

This directive of being "aware" of 1st Amendment activity is not strong enough. They need a forum of several hours featuring case law and the Bill of Rights.
Put them all on paid leave for a MONTH, and instead of sitting home attend forums, maybe repeating it for 160 hours will drum it into their pea sized brains.
Forum's will not cure plain old stupidity.
That may be beneficial.
If they should have been aware already, both from their directive, the 1st amendment, and the supreme court, then upon violation they should lose their job.

Although the ignorance of their own regulations and the arrogance that comes with it is appalling, it is not a surprise. Until public bodies like these are held to account by way of fines or donations to charities for their unlawful actions against the public, these incidents will continue.

If you want to test a person's character, give them a little power. So many fail the test. What an appalling group of people.
Put in your negotiated settlement that each board member has to stand outside with a sign that says "I will not violate people's first amendment rights" for an hour.
I'd rather go a more public shame rout with a sign that says "I violated the first amendment rights of a citizen and had him unlawfully trespassed from both a public meeting and a public park." 1 hour at the park for an hour prior to the next meeting, and 2 hours in front of either their church on Sunday or at the entrance to their neighborhood at 5 pm on a weekday.
Are it 40 hours and we have a deal!
