My experience: This cam has a working RPM range between 3500 and 6800 in my 5.3 Sierra.. with a more open/loud exhaust the idle tuning changes the lope/chop a lot since vacuum is low.. more restrictive exhausts or those with catalysts will not be easy to tune because idle has to be overly rich and inefficient.. it is best in a light truck/ car or one with a looser torque converter (stall between 2800-3200 is best for most). A real dyno tuner is important to make it all it can be.
gabe george I talked to a tech at the and the economy cam is the same exact cam as far as the duration, lift and lsa. The only difference is the cam is on a different core base metal. It costs them a little less to make so they pass the savings on and call it "economy cam"

@@alexmamczur3875 when you're in drive and not moving your torque converter is holding the load of what your engine is making and a cam is gonna give you alot more torque and the stock converter will give it a blower surge feel and you'll have a hell of a time trying not to creep at a red light. The stock one is good for like a stage 2 cam but anything bigger your walking a fine line
Bout to put the same cam in my 96 blazer 07 Yukon 5.3 is in it shorty headers xpipe and some kooks bullet header mufflers should sound great and put good power down

These are nice cuz of the low lift and no need for expensive valve springs. Ls6 springs and away you go. If you like the way it sounds.. but it. Regear to 4.10 or better and take your time finding the right torque converter. Dont cheap out on the converter either. Its one of the most important parts and you want it to match well with the cam and be tight/loose enough to tow with performance. Probably want a billet triple disc converter to handle locking up under load
@@lilianagonzalez3527 no. Check the pushrods on the middle cylinders, sometimes they get worn kind of oval shaped, if so replace them with stock ones. These cams are meant for stock length pushrods and rocker arms. Stock lifters works as well just slide a wooden rod in to keep the lifters up when installing the cam so you don't have to pull the heads off to get the lifters set right. All you need to do is the springs either use BTR springs or LS6 springs. They used to sell the cam kit with LS6 springs but I think they have their own springs now. You also get new cam seals for the valve stems so once you get the springs off, change those out and it helps keep the truck from burning oil. Watch Dinoco Blue's video's on how to swap a cam he shows it real easy.

What’s a good tune to run with my btr stage 4 cam ? It seems like my truck struggles to run for the first 5 seconds on start up then it runs fine. I assumed it needs better air to fuel & maybe some shift point adjustments
thats a overhead cam engine. They dont make nearly as much 4.7 stuff as they used to. 4.7 HO cams were popular mod to base 4.7, and the 212 cams were also somewhat popular for a time. Not a whole lot to be gained on a 4.7 from a cam swap unfortunately though
nsboost you know whata funny? Some guy tried to tell me a 4.8/5.3 with heads cam intake longtubes and tune wont make 400hp i told him he doesnt know what hes talking about. All those mods should put you around 425hp or more maybe depending on heads and intake
Tyrell James depends if you’re talking crank hp or wheel hp you can make 450 at the crank but say only 375ish at the wheels (automatic) you loose power through the trans, manuals loose less hp
I have the BTR Stage 4 Cam and LS6 Springs. I haven't installed yet because of what I hear. What if I installed this and didn't have it Tuned? Would it idle ok? Will it be drivable at all? What if it was on Stock Converter? No power? To much power? I heard it would try to push me through red lights/stop signs.
Don't use ls6 springs yellow and specially the blue ones, unless your lift isn't bigger than. 525 from personal experience, they break and don't close the valve fast enough.

I like the sound of the Truck Norris cam the most.

Will be a bit quicker with stage 3. Low end to mid range power band would be better than stage 4. Gotta let them valves shut every once in awhile

Cam,valve springs can be done with right tool at home pushrod hardened length is in cam spec. High stall converter probably 3500 stall to be safe.

drell07 it's a low lift cam so it can be used ls2,ls3 or ls6 springs which you can get cheap, but for the price brian tooley .660 lift can't be beat.

This is NOT a low lift cam! You might get away with PAC 1219 springs but to avoid valve float you’d be better off with PAC 1238-x double springs

Definitely gonna need tuned! That's a decent size cam for a 4.8, I would run a 3500 stall

You dont need to do anything to the bottom end, the bottom end can easily handle up to 800hp

mine didnt idle at all without a tune, but it makes good power. and yes it pushes through the brakes at lights with no converter.

dont use ls6..just get 918s...also they really dont push that hard...just use your brakes
