- @CheeseheadMotors is pleased to share this photo tour of the Rolls Royce Foundation Museum in Mechanicsburg, PA to commemorate the 104th anniversary of the first vehicle produced at the Springfield plant in January 1921. The former American Wire Wheels factory was converted to a Rolls Royce production facility to meet demand for a three-year backlog of 1,703 "Springfield Ghosts" and 1,241 Phantoms. The Springfield facility was run Rolls Royce of America, Inc., and operated for 10 years. The first vehicle produced at the Springfield facility was a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost with a documented chassis price of $11,750 ($200,715 in 2023 dollars). was the earlier location for the Duryea Motor Wagon Company where the first American gasoline-powered vehicle was built. #rollsroyce #bentley
