i don't know what's funnier, bipolar liu hong asking people to rejoin his empire one turn after he dissolved it, or liu bei and lu zhi immediately saying yes
I really hope you don’t stop doing these until TW:3k2 comes out. I can’t bring myself to watch let’s plays for others games but the depth and different ways to get strong keep it fresh.
I feel a good solution for ahistorical Cao Ding would have been to make him Jian Shuo instead. His gold armor gives him a martial vibe with the feathers in the cap, and that could have reflected Jian Shuo's position as Western Palace Captain. Plus, he was close to the Emperor right? Even more reason for the gold armor.
Hey Serious Trivia, I just found out that we had lost another legendary actor Li Jingfei who played as “Zhang Fei” in the 1994 version on November 24, 2022 and its very ironic he passed away from the same month, same year but different day to Lu Shuming's (Guan Yu) death.
As a further challenge/house rule: How about, as kind of the opposite of the previous campaign where you used only peasants inititally, here you try to always take the more "elite" units for your new armies? Or at least no militia units. The reason being that an emperor should not have armed peasants represent his might on the field, as the metaphorical fist of the emperor they should only use the best equipment and have the best training, similar to his current Imperial Army. Or to go completely crazy, only use the most "special", visually (aesthetically) impressive and exotic soldiers because the emperor will most likely be fooled by the appearance of a unit since he does not understand military concerns at all. :D
Minister of the Guards Dong Chong having the full administrator kit (items for expertise) meant for the Intendant of Henan Chen Dan while doing the Clerk assignment… this has to be the zenith of Emperor Ling Moments… pretty painful from within me to see this mix-up
Just for achievement I once beat MoH as Liu Hong. Even thinking maybe go and play after Jiang brother defeat. But naah, MoH as Liu Hong is short but very exhausting for me. In MoH campaign I actually really enjoy playing as Lu Zhi(also tnx to your starting guide again). Books with good bonuses, plus having elite vanguard unit and shok cavalry, so all you need only archer dragons...pure enjoy.
Cao Ding? Is that the Cao Cao's uncle? I read that people ridiculed him for having an uncle that was a corrupt eunuch but I thought that was just a rumour or something lol.
I really like the fact that the unique resource shows how, even thou you are the emperor, you need the aproval of other people to take desitions, I think (even if is not intended) that shows how the emperor actually had very little to no real power, he could tell you to go and die and you had to obey, but taking you out from a political position? Its really sad, if I remember correctly, one of the emperors that had actual power and respect was the one that tried to kill the Sima caln before the rebellion (dont remember the name, Cao something)
dont know if its widely known or not but on several occasions that i played liu hong i was able to keep either yuan shao or kong rong by adopting them and making them heir which will cause the event for them leaving to not trigger
I've got about 150 hours in this game and I've never finished a campaign, I'm currently doing a lui bei 190 play through I've taken out cao cao and got control of the centre I'm heading north to take out yaun shao now after signing some deals in the south so there's no wars on two fronts
i have bit of a stupid question. cause i feel like you may have talked about this before. but what really was the meaning of Emperor anyway. personally i feel like the 2010 tv show comment from Dong Zhuo is correct. and emperors are nothing but a roayl figure? and really have no power and authority. but you always have more insight on these. Considering the last few emperors of Han were just being pushed around. First by Eunuchs and then by Cao Cao. ofc i better know the novel and historical records so i might have some misconceptions.
Most Eastern Han emperor died young and ascend the throne young. So young boys needs their mommies and uncles make decisions for them. Hence power gone to their relatives.
The power of the Emperor in Chinese history would change from Dynasty to Dynasty. During the Han, the Emperor shared power with the court and did not have absolute power. They would make suggestions and listen to suggestions from the court and then the court would debate and decide on policy. Of course, the Emperor could fire/hire/kill any official so their influence over the court would still be strong, but because of this power sharing dynamic, if you end up with a weak or young Emperor who either entrusted the policy making entirely to the court or certain members of the court or were too young to make suggestions to the court, then you had the issue of the late Han. Add on the eunuchs rise to power which essentially added a middle man to the Emperor's connection to the court as in the eunuchs would decided which reports the Emperor saw and which Emperor's suggestions went out to the court, you now had an added layer to the corruption. But regardless the Han system was politically more fair and offered check and balances that would be further enhanced in the Sui, Tang, and Song Dynasties where you saw similar power sharing systems. However with the Mongol conquest and the Yuan Dynasty, the Emperor, now the Khan, decided that sharing power with the court was beneath him and thus you had more power and authoritative Emperors in Chinese history as the Ming and Qing Dynasties after Yuan adopted this same system where the Emperor ruled as an absolute monarchy. But at no time in Chinese History aside from potentially the later periods of the Spring Autumn where the Zhou Emperor was a figurehead but at that time, China technically didn't have Emperors yet and was largely a vassal state system rather than an united Empire.
full of bugs, no. replenishment on foreign territory (for subjects is part of the gameplay), but you are referring to enemy territory then I am not aware of it
Yes I was playing a pvp campaign, and we had replinshment in our respective territory even tought we were at war, so disappointed 🥲 but still an amazing game for sure
From the Remnants establishing the Yellow Sky Mandate to Papa Han himself. That's quite a jump ey ? Imho Liu Hong is the faction that had the most potential for a internal political faction and it kinda got squandered away. Twas a shame really. Sure I'll fight with every fiber of my being agaisnt people trying to turn TW into a political simulator but if there is ONE faction that should have been that with me tolerating it : it's definitely Liu Hong.
i don't know what's funnier, bipolar liu hong asking people to rejoin his empire one turn after he dissolved it, or liu bei and lu zhi immediately saying yes
Hey Cao Ding go and do this assignment for me, actually nevermind you're banished.
hey duan gui I'm gonna up your salary, lmao just kidding
Feng-qing, Deng-qing! Go west assist the imperial uncle. Meh, don't worry we had an imperial army!
Turn 1: Dissolves the empire
Turn 2: Sorta rebuilt the empire
Big brain
Cant wait for the next episode, 80 minute is the longgest total war video ever play by ST in one episode i think.
There was one where I tried to save Cao Cao and it went on for hours…one of the first few let’s play I did
@@SeriousTrivia oh mu bad, i didnt check that one. But this let's play is more interesting with so many mechanism so u need to think 3 step ahead.
From freeing the people to taxing and whipping the piss out of them. Glory to the Han!
Some of you may suffer, but its a sacrifice i am willing to make
I really hope you don’t stop doing these until TW:3k2 comes out. I can’t bring myself to watch let’s plays for others games but the depth and different ways to get strong keep it fresh.
"You're just poor" ST says to Liu Bei, after making sure he's taken all Liu's per turn income.
Out of the turban, into the tongtianguan. (hopefully that's actually the name of the emperor's fancy hat)
We are imperial favor gives off some Palpatine vibes

Sire there's rebelion in the north, the empire is in danger !
Liu Hong: screw the empire, I declare a battle royale, also everybody owes me money.
ST is rolling out quick rn. My man has a busy gaming schedule.

yes when he passed, there was a meme that the Liu Bei actor is now worried
Oh wow I did not know actor Sun Yanjun (Liu Bei) is still alive.
So sad 😢. Does this mean it’s time to invade Jing province
Wow that start was great, surprisingly we did more than just one turn though.

Just started watching your Let's Play from 3 Years ago and absolutely love it. Nice to see a new one
Love the premise of this run. This is going to be another good one.
Love the thumbnail! Can’t wait to see a besieged pass battle
Minister of the Guards Dong Chong having the full administrator kit (items for expertise) meant for the Intendant of Henan Chen Dan while doing the Clerk assignment… this has to be the zenith of Emperor Ling Moments… pretty painful from within me to see this mix-up
So glad you continue doing videos on three kingdoms ❤
amount of effort you put in your every video is so underrated
Liu Hong be like: "To rebuild empire, we must first burn it down."
Given the state of the empire at that time, one can say that's accurate. Too many entrenched power blocs.
Just for achievement I once beat MoH as Liu Hong. Even thinking maybe go and play after Jiang brother defeat. But naah, MoH as Liu Hong is short but very exhausting for me. You mean Zhang brothers :)
@@eliu868 right
I cheered loudly when you said that "58 is young" ... ask me why.
why, young man?
@@SeriousTrivia what a charmer :D
@@SeriousTrivia :) Wow. After a quick inference, I must say that you have a very young voice.
Cao Ding? Is that the Cao Cao's uncle? I read that people ridiculed him for having an uncle that was a corrupt eunuch but I thought that was just a rumour or something lol.
supposedly Cao Hong's uncle but shouldn't be an eunuch historically
I am waiting for the day CA approaches you asking for you for historical advice and help because you know so much!
This is gonna be exciting
Noice another Let's Play...Let's Go!!!

that is very interesting!
Role playing house rules. I'm double all in!

looking forward for more han empire gameplay 👍
there should be a unique reform that allows Liu Hong to be summoned on the field
love it
More for this I love you video
I think you gave the administrator gear to the wrong chap. Enjoying this though!
Yea I will catch this much later lol

The bane that is feature-creep espoused by iconic grand strategy map painting games.
I want to play the MoH campaign but everytime i do i get game ending bug
💪🏽
nice
Did He Yi end?
Why you not use the MTU WDG TUP mods for better characters and new items
because for challenge runs such as this one, those items just makes things so much easier, so I tend to do challenge runs on vanilla
Shut down gold lol
