"Le nozze di Figaro" ("The Marriage of Figaro") is an opera buffa in four acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with an Italian libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte. The libretto is based on the play of the same name by Pierre Beaumarchais. It was first performed at the Burgtheater in Vienna on 1st May, 1786, with the composer conducting.

I have the Solti recording of Allen as the Count, Kiri TK as the Countess, Lucia Popp etc Gorgeous, and this aria in that recording is peerless. I have yet to hear a baritone control the triplets as well as he does and none that have the clarity of the F# at the climax.

Excellent Count…paced well so that the f# didn’t over shadow the remainder of the aria in terms breath and energy.
