Wow that’s a class 3 Dump bed or a 4! My class 2 1991 Sambar is Supercharged and a Dump class 2 w Super Deluxe trim. It’s so funny how we in USA are so into the construction and farm equipment from Japan.

Kei cars and truck are very popular in Japan, because they have low taxation and insurance. They do not have particularly spectacular fuel consumption though. I live in the Japanese mountains and here the vast majority of cars are kei cars, and a significant number of those are trucks because this is also an agricultural area. I don't see too many kei dump trucks though as they are more expensive. They are are quite cramped inside and definitely not comfortable for any kind of long journey. However there is an extended cabin version by Daihatsu that allows for comfier and more adjustable seats that can lean back. Some can be bought with agricultural suspension (ie rock hard) and the cheapest versions come with wind up windows, and no a/c, to be had for about USD$6,000 brand new. Some have the engine under the cab, and some further towards the back, which in my mind is much better for access. The non-dump types with the engine at the back have a large panel to be removed for access. Both automatic and manual gearboxes are available, and the 4wd types are usually manual, so an extra knob for high (2wd), low (4wd) and very low, and some have diff lock as an option. Their performance in snow is outstanding, and I have seen one plough through one metre of fresh snow with little problem (of course with winter tyres). Actually in this area (all above 1,000m) most people keep winter tyres on all year. They all have 12 inch tyres, so a set of 4 kei truck tyres is about ¥10,000 (USD$75), a quarter the cost to replace the tyres on my Forester ! All the best from Japan.
