as well as a drain port, it's also very useful to have a fill port at the top. to ease draining, as well as adding a tube to the drain and into a bottle, add a tube to the fill port and blow into it. that will get most of those dregs out.

really cool to see the solid coloring get thrown to the outside of the tubing at the top going from the mobo to the radiator. Makes it really obvious that there are actually solid particles in there that need to be cleaned out.

One way I get most of the liquid out of my loop is to attach a tube to the fill port and blow air into the loop to force most of the water out.

Loved your term for an old PSU - "Grandpa" power supply, I reference them as "Yum Cha" PSU's. Myself, I have a Corsair SF450W with an eVGA jumper plugged in permanently on the 24 pin for my maintenance duties. My system is a bit harder to drain as I have 3 radiators with the last installed in the floor of my case but with a lot of tilting I can get most of it out. Also, all my radiators are AlphaCool crossflow which seem to drain much easier than the traditional variety.

Although not the most exciting video with the usual eye candy but super informative for people new to watercooling or those maybe thinking about watercooling. Worth mentioning: if you're going to use the PSU in your PC to run your pump for the re-filling, draining process...unplug your spindle drives if you have any. Turning the PSU on and off repeatedly can mess with your spindle drives...I found out the hard way when I was doing this a while back. I'd go as far as to say, unplug anything you can...better still, use a separate PSU like the video shows, just to run the pump.

I've been loving your videos since I discovered your channel not too long ago, and while I don't subscribe to many, yours is one of my favorites. I've built my first 2 hard tube setups recently...one with PETG and the other with Acrylic. So, I'm still wrapping my head around the plumbing/physics aspects of liquid cooling. One of my builds is actually in a 200+ pound piece of furniture that is not easy to tip in any direction.
Are there any tricks in your tubing layout that you incorporate to improve the ease of draining (or filling)? Like air ingress/egress ports elsewhere around the build (beyond the reservoir?). Do you use any air release valves like those by bitpower?
    Thank you.

Noob Asking. Could you not automate the flush? You have your lower drain port and a drain tube from there, could you not add another connecting point at the top and run a fill tube from there (both inlet and outlet away from the PC). If you had a bucket of distilled water and a submersible pump to the inlet and an empty container for the out then you wouldn't ever run the installed pump, just turn on the distilled pump and it would continue to run until clear. you'd do away with the additional power supply, the jumper, fill bottle and speed the whole process up....... or am i missing something?
