"Building a settlement? Better build your map data with the next settlement that needs our help, I'll mark it on your map." - Preston Garvey that somehow appeared in skyrim.
This is pretty accurate to how villages and towns tend to be built. Here’s a resource. People come to gather the resource. They build homes. People come to feed the workers, build homes. People come to utilize the resource, build homes. The towns surrounding many historic castles grew this way. Builders, stonemasons, lumberers, carpenters, painters, blacksmiths, architects, leather workers, rope makers… and all the people needed to feed them and maintain their tools and clothes and animals. And they all need housing!
That's not entirely true. Most settlements were not built to be close to resources for most of history. They were built on fertile ground, near rivers, and in defencible positions.
@@FlowersOfIcetor True, but not in the same way iron is. Before the modern period, most settlements were not made around specific resources. They were often built in strategic places for trade or for the military. I think its much more accurate to say most settlements were built where the soil was rich, around a fort or in a place where merchants could get to easily. There mining towns, but more often there were normal towns that became hubs for selling ore, like stannaries, after mines were founded nearby, rather than being at the mine itself.
Yea, not to be that guy but until he got a tavern he was working on it by himself. And only after building already a pretty big settlement people moved in, which is not accurate. Only after that it became community
I like how Alorn is only booksmart, he doesn't know how to bake pies and doesn't realize that his mines living conditions (filled with sooty air) is unhealthy, but he can still tell you what all the ores can be made into. Its a refreshingly realistic skyrim character
It makes it a lot more fun having to work for everything and not being rich from loot instantly haha. Glad you enjoyed, think you’ll enjoy the series 😃

really love the idea of this mod, it sounds like a playthough i tried to create half a dozen times, unfortunately the mods i had at the time could only do some of what i wanted. i wanted to turn my other larger houses into places for the homeless NPC's including more locations for the orphan children, but i couldn't find the mods to make that a reality. the mod i used to make all of these houses and my money was a really cool economy mod called re-real-estate, that mod allows you to purchase almost every house, mine, business, farm, inn in the game and allowed you to make passive income per location which could be set to your leisure, anyway each city had their own income based on the location and population so it mattered, anyway i just wanted to help people in skyrim in more ways than one. it was fun to play this idea in my head, but it was limited in scope because the mods i used were limited in scope and really needed some kind of addons that i had all kinds of ideas for but as i said i was limited to what i could make possible, i had this whole other side of my idea that i would kill bandits and take their locations and turn these locations into cities, but again limitations of mods that existed and i could never do what i wanted fully. i essentially wanted to rebuild Rome, lol, like in assassins creed brotherhood but in skyrim. i loved the idea of this basic gameplay loop, it just needed to be so much more than it was in my head to fully make me feel like it was all worth it.
don't get me wrong, because i like the idea of mods like this, but sometimes these kinds of mods can be a bit monotonous and feel very big in scope but annoying because like everything else in skyrim, you have to put in all the work, i think if there was a system that allowed the player to play another way as an option like for example, say you have lots of money and you want to hire some workers to build the town for you, they take some of your money while you adventure for some time and continue to pay them until the job is done, this could be a process of time and it could build several locations while you adventure the world and play the game, but you could go to these towns and see what they got done, maybe make a few adjustments of your own, but i would like some kind of automated process as an option and not have the player doing everything themselves like in FO4.
I like your narrative style and I very much enjoy your video's concept - turning what is essentially a power fantasy into a very much down-to-earth life sim. I liked the touch you gave to your character, being the son of a miner thus making his transition into a mine owner of his late father's mine feel very natural! I am excited to see the follow-up parts of Alorn Alornsson's story!
Glad you enjoyed! I like making a bit of a backstory so they feel a bit more real for you all watching! The journey should be very fun, excited to get started on the next part

Funny enough I've actually been playing nearly this exact modlist for about a month, and it's pretty fun. I do struggle with the fact that there's no progression in terms of the materials you need to build though, unfortunately everything just requires the same logs and iron and so the only real investment is time. Kind of wish we had to use like, steel and dwarven materials for more advanced builds.
Yeah using the same materials is a bit of a shame. In this series I’m going to be starting with no materials and write it into the story why, just for a bit of a challenge to it
Very excited to see the expansion of this story. From Rags to Jarl! I love how you narrated this, that the gate was a suggestion from the guards and how you personalized everyone. Made it much more immersive and organic. Excited to see our character and your channel grow together!

After i get tired of the many quests of Skyrim i will probably get into these creative mods in which you just have a peaceful life and build things. It's honestly incredible what people have done with Skyrim mods. I don't think anyone working on Skyrim thought it could one day become a city builder, or a farming simulator, or a sex game. I'm sure Todd never imagines people would add new regions, or new weapons, or bikini armour. Really fascinating.
I hope ES6 is like this. Like, a lot like this. Even more flushed out with a story etc. maybe start as a boy learning your Dads trade, and then when you come of age you do the adventuring part.
this looks like an interesting thing to do in vr, I do however think blackthorn manor is a bit disappointing but the followers you can get from it are pretty strong
@@ValePlaysGames it’s a lot of materials for sure but worth it the main noble house is really nice. some materials are in barrels dotted around falkreath to help
Another great mod similar to Windstad Mine and Heljarchen Farm is Honeystrand Meadery, it is hard to find online for special edition but I did have it at one point. If you can find it, I highly recommend it. You can create a large variety of different new types of alcohol, and they all have different effects, and it's great for making money.
I'm only about a minute in and... OH MY YES! BUILD NOBLE HOUSE!!! I'm sorry, it's one of my favorite skyrim mods. I recognized the name 'Fellburg' and the banner for Fellburg, because I love that mod so much.
If this was a regular thing in Skyrim without mods, I’m sure the franchise would get new fans and it would bring back fans from the dawn of the elder scrolls franchise.
Man youtube on my xbox is on a roll with showing me new channels. Nice video shame it was not a bit longer but thats more due to me liking longer videos. Keep up the good work. Subed
Glad you enjoyed, and welcome to the channel! Good news is there’s at least another 4 episodes in the series, and I might do a compilation at the end for a film type video
Pity then, it's a fun one. I remember sourcing ressources for supplying it and then even buying at least one nearby farm to support it. Back then (before the skyrim special edition) I played around with that and a little mod by a french mod author that allowed me to trade local specialties to scratch my merchant itch. Forgotten that one though@@ValePlaysGames

Haha just a bit of building! I’ve never actually made Fellburg, is it hard to make? Looking forward to becoming a jarl
@@ValePlaysGames it’s a lot of materials for sure but worth it the main noble house is really nice. some materials are in barrels dotted around falkreath to help
@@fernywerny1 I’m definitely going to write down there’s materials in barrels! That bit might be sneaking into the story now
This is so fun! I love your story telling. Look forward to more!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed! Episode
2 is in the filming process, so it’s on irs way 😃
Loving the skyrim content man. It's a nice break from the hyper focused videos I see. Keep up the good videos, man. Much love and support❤
Thank you, glad you’re enjoying! It’s a nice change of pace for me, I’m always doing challenge runs haha
I did see that but I could only find downloads from dodgy sites so sadly didn’t install, it would have been great though
@@ValePlaysGames if i find a reliable source for it ill definitely share!
I really loved fellburg back in the olden days of Oldrim.
I’ve never played with it on, looking forward to building it in the finale!
@ValePlaysGames it's a good one, but it's just meant to be done over a longer game. lot of construction
I'm only about a minute in and... OH MY YES! BUILD NOBLE HOUSE!!! I'm sorry, it's one of my favorite skyrim mods. I recognized the name 'Fellburg' and the banner for Fellburg, because I love that mod so much.
I’ve never built it, but it should make a great finale to the series from the look of it!
If this was a regular thing in Skyrim without mods, I’m sure the franchise would get new fans and it would bring back fans from the dawn of the elder scrolls franchise.
I’m hoping this will be in the next elder scrolls game! With fallout and starfield having building I’d be surprised if it didn’t
This was an awesome video concept man, very unique and entertaining 🎉
Thank you! I’d seen some of the mods before so thought it’d be fun to build them all, really enjoyed it so far
This is done really well. Great work
Thank you, glad you enjoyed!
I love the faux-reality TV approach, very fun!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed 😃
Love these vids and a voice I can listen to without retching
Glad you’re enjoying! The super energetic voice isn’t my style so glad you like this version haha
I love watching people play skyrim not doing the stuff you would usually do in skyrim 😭😭
It’s a lot of fun playing this way as well, I’d recommend it
Man youtube on my xbox is on a roll with showing me new channels. Nice video shame it was not a bit longer but thats more due to me liking longer videos. Keep up the good work. Subed
Glad you enjoyed, and welcome to the channel! Good news is there’s at least another 4 episodes in the series, and I might do a compilation at the end for a film type video
great video, i love the roleplay aspect of it
Thank you! Having a lot of fun with this one
You're only missing the Brewery and Tavern that I had a lot of fun with. Katixas Ciderhouse Restaurant over on Nexus
I thought about adding this in but it looked pre built sadly, looks like a great mod to use though!
The almighty youtube algorithm has directed me towards a good channel, the planets must be aligned right
Welcome aboard friend, glad it sent you this way!
great video mate not often i find a youtuber i enjoy like this keep up the vids man hope to watch the channel grow.
Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed!
Cottage core Skyrim, let’s gooooo
I didn’t expect it to be this fun, but I’m glad I’ve made it into this haha
Saw your comment on the latest Joov vid and it led me here. I loved the video! Happily subbed ❤
Welcome, still can’t believe Joov has seen this haha. Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for the sub!
yo what this shit is crimminally underwatched my mind is blown with quality this good it iisnt from a huge channel
Thank you, glad you liked it! Been working hard to up the quality so really appreciate the feedback! Might get there someday, but enjoying every time someone stumbles me across and joins the community! Welcome 😀
I would totally chumb if I saw a game that was a mix of Skyrim and Valheim.
Would be interesting! Hardcore survival Set in the skyrim afterlife could be how to do it
It would nice to see some raids on your property and how guards are dealing with that.
I didn’t get raided which was a shame, would be fun to add a mod where I could trigger that
@@ValePlaysGames The community has a mod for the war between the Empire and the Stormcloaks, which adds massive skirmishes on the roads. If you figure out how to carefully add this mechanic to your playthrough so that you don't have a 20-man army coming at you that is impossible to deal with, then it would be cool if you chose a side in the civil war and collaborated with the Imperials or the Nords.
First video of yours and I think it's amazing, you most definitely deserve more subs!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed! Working hard to keep the quality high
@@ValePlaysGames keep at it man, it's already great quality and content
this was really cool! super excited for the next instalment
Thanks! Looking forward to sharing it, the series should be a lot of fun 😀
This was really nice. Thanks for making it! :)
Glad you enjoyed!
In writing some rough drafts for unique groups of Orsimer who have adapted to the hold of Skyrim they live in, each has their own unique genetic background, religious perspective, cultures and trade goods, combat styles, armors, weapons, player homes, crafting recipes, race specific assumptions and interactions based on your races lore, and so much more.
That sounds interesting, will you do a play through based on that as well?
@@ValePlaysGames I don't even have a computer strong enough to start making the mod, nor do if have any knowledge or skill in modding, I am more of a writer so I may hand off the finished scripture to a modder with high XP
Orsimer are severely underrepresented.
I think that would be a good mod for mods to be on creation club
It would! It’s a shame more wasn’t added to the CC, would make console modding a lot better
This is the skyrim I want and need. Vanilla isn't doing it for me anymore. I need mods like this
All the mods I used are in the description if you want to download and give it a go!
3k in a month mate, and damn good editing and voicework. Congrats, glad to be early in this glorious journey!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed, and welcome aboard 😃 Always trying to improve so hopefully the quality keeps going up

Overgrown grass is my issue, my smooth brain hates that
You could become skyrims first lawn moving business
This is my new favourite video
Glad you enjoyed! Wait till you see the next episodes 😃
Well that was a nice cozy watch, thank you :)
Glad you enjoyed! There’s more on the way tomorrow as well 😃
