my mom passed away from cancer yesterday & I remembered she was with me on launch day in 2012 for Halo 4. Funny enough, a few months ago when she was about to leave the house for her treatment, she reached out her arm to touch the Halo 4 game which was sticking out of the shelf near the front door. Listening to this calms me and I hope to find peace in my heart.

Halo was the first game to make me really consider how much the score impacts the experience. It made me realize how a combat encounter can be basic when silent, but can be legendary with the right track. Whose skills weren't immediately increased tenfold when mjolnir remix played? Who doesn't remember halo 2 in the penultimate level when you walked into the room with grunts, elites, and two hunters and the "blow me away" instrumental started to play? A great score can take the right game from good to amazing, Skyrim, Halo, legend of Zelda, and countless others have proven this time and again. Thank you for listening to my TED talk.

HALO got me through my divorce. My roommate and I were bored to tears until someone at work said, "hey, you need to check out this new game called: HALO." So right after work we rented (yes, rented) an Xbox from Blockbuster (who remembers those!?) and the game. This was June 2002. We ordered pizza, grabbed a case of Code Red Mountain Dew, and proceeded to play HALO from the time we got it home (about 6PM) until our work alarms went off the next morning. I got a shower, went to work, survived off energy drinks and coffee, got home, took a short nap, and my roommate and I were back on the Xbox. For the next several months we played every level - every difficulty. And then started over.
When my kids were old enough, we were playing HALO 3 and ODST. I can still remember nights were my kids and I were trash talking each other during online matches. As a Marine, I was directing my kids where to set up so that we could triangulate effectively. Calling shots. Clearing corners. After a day at the beach, they looked forward to helping make dinner and then spending time seeing who was the better player with the most kills. HALO didn't run our life, but we made it a part of our lives.
Fast forward some years later. My kids have all graduated and went off to become adults. My girls through college and my son in the Marines (following my footsteps). As a way for me and my son to spend time with each other - since he's stationed across the country - we both paid for the Master Chief Collection and we STILL play HALO on occasion. Still trash talking and still racking up headshots with the sniper rifle.
Up in my loft, the Xbox stays plugged into the big screen TV. I haven't played her in a while since I use my laptop for the MCC. But she sleeps for now. Patiently waiting for the day my grandson is old enough to enjoy the pleasure that is HALO.

Wow reading all that takes hold of me honestly. Me and my dad always played split screen co-op too. I won't tell you the whole story but it was one of the best parts of my childhood
It was a game that created and strengthened many friendships. I wish I could know every halo player and just talk to them about their experiences and share memories. And yes the last blockbuster funny enough is the one my family and I used to go and rent movies and games. In Bend OR for reference

Reminds me of the days my dad felt alive enough to play halo with us but the spire was our favorite map for PvP in reach he has a good sniper
Lets be honest. You're sitting here reminiscing about your past when you were a lot younger, just a handful years shy away from being thrown into the adult life of bills, responsibility, possibly debt, and working full time, saving, and starting a family. The music transports you back some ten to fifteen years ago, exploring the memories that dwell in the deepest parts of your mind. The very feeling of nostalgia and peace consume your mind. You see yourself holding that controller staring into your TV bonding with your close friends in Halo, the endless all nighters with multiplayer yelling over the mic hurling sarcastic insults with your friends, laughing at moments you wouldn't think was possible, and saying goodnight bud, see you tomorrow evening to repeat the night.
You realize you never once said to yourself back then, that all this would be gone, these all nighters with a lobby full of close friends would end. You knew at that time the only thing that mattered was spending time with those friends of yours playing your favorite game. The thought of it all ending not once existed. You spent each night you could relaxing and chilling in front of that TV of yours. For some people here lived for that moment, the outside world wasn't a place you were ready for. Your social aptitude filled with anxiety, nervousness, and shyness kept you inside your house. For inside that house, through the Xbox console you could open up and be yourself, free from being judged or looked upon. Remembering how bliss, calm, and carefree happiness those times made you feel. But now you think of it, it suddenly all came to an end didn't it?
The Last Online 879 days ago meme really happened. Those days have ended, they disappeared slowly, but to you it ended suddenly you cannot locate that exact moment it ceased. The clouds unravel and you find yourself back here, in this current state of time. For just those five minutes you found peace, dreaming of those times where nothing mattered, and you hold onto those memories forever, realizing you're the last one left here, still living and making ends meet, but holding on to your favorite things such as this franchise because it gets you through your day.
Yes while the nights with lobbys of friends playing halo 3 has ended. This sound track and all its stands for lives on for eternity and shall never be forgotten. I would urge every one who had the honor to have these games to keep the disks and a console to play them close at hand but distant on a shelf. When a day comes when all seems lost, grab the disc and light off the console. It was always enough for me just to hear the lobby music. Play the campaign and all your memories will be relived if only for yourself than it is more than enough.

This has to be the most beautiful spot on thing I have ever read. It's making me cry, which leads me to believe I am experiencing some depression right now and realizing that I will never have those nights with complete strangers on my headset that I used to call my friend. I will have to go and play the old games again soon, but BRAVO that was an incredible way of putting it. like reading poetry.

Halo defined a generation, the original trilogy is a masterpiece and I consider it to be the dawn of the modern gaming renaissance. The first game to really make all aspects of it feel epic like a huge movie production. There wasn’t this “fix it later, ship it now” attitude in games. You had to claw your way to success in the industry but when you did it showed. Gaming, like many aspects of today, has become an impatient business and less of an astounding work of art. Halo set a high benchmark and that is why it will never truly die.
Whoever comes across this message, may your heart radiate with all the colors that you are. You are a blessing to this earth. I believe in you.❤

In this dry and bland world, hearing the Halo music makes me see color again. The memories, the emotion of the story, the fantastic characters; it all makes me feel at home again. It makes me feel TRUE joy.

I have literally never played Halo in my life, but I saw this and was intrigued and needed some ambience for my writing project and I love this, it's amazing. Never heard the Halo scores before, but I'm digging what's here in this compilation

If you have a PC or Xbox I’d definitely give the games a shot, great story, score, characters, gameplay and if I had to recommend a game from the series based on soundtrack it would be Halo 3: ODST
Please give it a go. It's the definitive classic for a good reason. Still the richest and most immersive sci-fi universe for me. Beyond Star Wars, Star Trek, Starcraft, Titanfall.

I remember when my dad used to play Halo on the old version of Xbox and I would watch him play pass my bedtime.
It created memories that I'll never forget. Now I'm in my 20s and I bought the Master Chief Collection on Steam and I don't regret it. It makes me tear up when I play and it reminds me of the old times.❤
It has been literal decades since I first played Halo and yet so many of the songs of the original soundtrack from CE to Reach still bring tears to my eyes. Truly it is some of the most beautiful and evocative music ever written. ❤

The intro music to this video gives me goosebumps every time I hear it...takes me back to my Halo 3 days.
I remember playing on my Xbox 360 playing Halo Reach on survival on a stormy day. This fine memory will never be forgotten. To be honest, I would give up everything that I've worked hard for just to live my childhood one more time. Then I can die happy knowing that my dream is fulfilled.
i still replay these single player epics quite regularly. probably will for the rest of my life. i remember when halo 1 came out, i was 6 or 7 and i remember non stop talking about it in school.
I put this on while I was trying to fall asleep last night. Man... I explored every inch of those maps to this music. This unlocked memories I didn't even know I had. I remembered the first time I ever saw Halo being played at my cousin's house. They were at the part right after you crash land on the ring, before you have the warthog, when you find the covenant outposts. I was transported back to being probably 10 years old again. Thank you for this wonderful compilation.
It's such an incredible breath of fresh air seeing people appreciate this music as much as I do. For how much it's defined my life - across ALL of the games - I've always sorta felt isolated in my appreciation for this music. Being reminded that others feel it as deeply as I do is such a gift. People like Halo music because it is wholesome, the whole experiecne is, it's not base level it's art. It inspires you to be better, and to think more deeply about the themes. Tbh beyond gameplay or graphics that's the thing that has always drawn me back to Halo, why i've enjoyed the series for years, the THEMES of sacrifice, honour, wonder, hope, and bravery. These themes in the art style, and general tone of the game have set Halo apart from the get as much action in and as much stimulus as possible, to have a more deeper more meaningful experience.
I've been listening to this as I read through the halo novels and it really adds so much! It's spooky how often the hooks and choruses match the exact emotions I'm feeling

Halo was peak 'gaming culture' for me. We all played Halo in late middle school and through early high school, during the prime time of bringing multiple consoles to someone's house, hooking them up through a LAN splitter, and playing 8-16 person local games for hours on end. Halo 3 online was my favorite online gaming experience ever, and probably the best I'll ever be at a competitive game. Then it was on to college, graduate school, marriage, work, and life, which get in the way of gaming now. But the soundtracks of Halo (and Medal of Honor/Call of Duty) will always encapsulate those great years.

Never played any Halo in my life, but I came across the OST once and found myself falling in love with almost every track. Your mix offered me long awaited piece of mind, thank you very much.
It's kind of funny how little things like the thunderstorm, rain, ocean waves combined with the score bring me back the best memories of the not so good days. When the rest of my life was in the dumps the couple of games I had was Reach and ODST to help make the days a little easier to cope with. I remember saving up to buy a wifi adapter for the 360 just to be able to connect to my friends. Halo was the medium that helped me get through those rough times. The tracks Never Forgotten and Never Forget in Halo 2 and 3 are my absolute favorite. That was the track I listened to when I was playing Halo 2 and got a call saying my grandma died.

Funny how most of this music is from halo 4, I remember that the 4th game was my first halo and everyone just talked trash about it and I was incredibly confused
I had first received halo when I was around 8. I would always be defeated by my dad, but time after time and halo after halo, I beat him for the first time. That was in halo 3. My favorite halo, the story. When my friend and I opened up the master chief collection a couple days ago, I kept the old graphics on the anniversary, he said why? I said because it brings back nostalgia. Breaking out the old og Xbox. Now I have the series x, boy what a way we have come.
Bro when we were little Halo made us, it gave us friends, storylines that had us in tears but most importantly they gave us characters we each can related to, to be strong in difficult situations. This ambience reminds me off my old friends and community I miss them and wished I cherished our last game, the last time we said our goodbyes was the last time we'd be together

This is easily my favorite. Perfect mix of nostalgia and relaxation. I'll go back to exploring other videos for background noise eventually, but for now I want to stay right here.

If there's any video that deserves a double like it is for sure this one, love the Halo games and their scores.
I never got to play Halo during its prime since it was a console exclusive and I only had a cheap pc that time. I would just watch videos of people playing it and dream of the day I would one day play it. As soon as MCC came to PC, I instantly grabbed it and played the hell out of the campaign. Sadly, nobody in Asia plays halo and I had to put up with the horrendous ping in multiplayer. Now with Infinite, there was a sliver of hope that I could bring my friends into Halo but the content drought there just made it too hard to get them to stay.
In just a few months of playing, Halo has helped me shaped myself for the better. And now, seeing the current state of the franchise, I felt like a recruit joining a losing battle. But I refuse to give up and I will keep fighting on. Noble Team did NOT die for nothing. Halo will forever live on because Spartans never die; they just go missing in action.

halo 3 ODST was the first game i played with my brother n family. such an good game.. but beside that, i always come back to hear this wonderful music they made for the game. I love the flashbacks to the old xbox 360 and the mood that caused it.
