- Today I continue north and visit a tiny island far out at sea to have a cup of coffee in a very special coffee shop. The coast coffee is a tiny roastery at the island of Lovund in northern Norway.

What a beautiful country, enjoyed the story about the coffee, thank you!
Maybe you can show us how you cook and what you do while camping. I'm also curious about how and when you maintain your engine and other equipment. Now we only see you riding a motorcycle and drinking coffee. I think your followers will also find it very interesting to see what you do in between and what you have to do to keep traveling. Take good care of yourself because I really have the feeling that you often skip meals. Have a nice trip and safe travels.
Nice! 👍😊 thanks for sharing!
I enjoy your adventures. stay dry!
Big 👍🏻up for the hidden gems. They tell you what life is all about.
You weren't ferry lucky making it to the boat on time. But through it all you maintained your good spirits and that's what makes you a Champion.
Takk, I put the place on my maps, will see to go on way down from kappnord
Having a morning cup while watching your video. Stay warm and safe 🎉
Enjoy! ☕️
Nydelig episode. Imponerende hva du klarer å produsere 🙂
What a fantastic episode. Great interview with the roaster! Thanks man! ☕
Glad you enjoyed it! 😁 thank you!
Oleksii is such a great dude!
And the whole of Helegeland is a hidden gem, but so, so beautiful,
Sorry you had the bad weather to deal with, bro, but you know how it is up here 😂
That is a fabulous place.
Ride safe 👍
Absolutely! You should stop by 😛
Takk!
Tusend Takk.
Too bad my old friend Arnt Mathias Arntzen is no longer with us! He sadly passed away from cancer a few years ago 😢 An enjoyer of life and good coffee, Cognac and cigars 🤩 He had a coffee brewery/roastery on Vevelstad Brygge/Handelsstedet Forvik. He would make a great interview object 😊 His sister is running the place now, in his spirit. You should stop by the place on your next trip through Helgeland!
I just bought a coffee grinder. I have it set on a very fine setting. My first bag of beans is: Eight O'Clock Medium Roast 100% Colombia Peaks Rich Winey & Full Bodied. Any suggestions?
Great decision! It depends on how you are brewing. If you grind too fine it will taste very bitter and if you grind too course it will taste weak and sour. It also depends on what type of grinder you have. But for most filter type brews grind to about the same size as the supermarket preground coffee, and for a full emersion brew grind a bit courser. If you are brewing on a v60, 18g coffee - 300g water - 80g bloom 30 sec - up to 200g at 60 sec - finish on 300g at 1.45 min, It should take about 2.5-3 minutes from start to finish. if it takes much longer it is too fine, much shorter it is too course.
@@RidetheBean I bought 3 Pounds or 1.36 KG of Folgers Custom Roast. I drink a lot of very weak coffee, just a hot drink. My stomach can not handle black coffee. I use some milk and two ice cubes. I just have a cheap coffee brewer and use paper filters. I started out grinding it very fine and it is very mellow with a pleasant taste. I still add milk however.
I bought Maxwell House before and it was terrible and more bitter. After watching the Video about the Coffee Shop I realized the beans have to be roasted too.
I had a Neighbor who built old Gasoline and Steam engines in his machine shop in the basement of his house. He built a 1/6 scale a 1/3 scale and a 1/2 scale version of a 60 Horse Power Case Steam Traction engine. I went to Antique Tractor, Steam and Engine shows with him before. Then he made his own Violins too.
It all depends on your preference of course. People like their coffee in their own ways. But objectively speaking you are not buying very high quality coffee. Coffee is graded in a point system, where high quality coffee is scored above 80 points out of 100. Folgers uses much lower grade coffees, just like most larger industry brands do. What they consider a medium roast would likely be what we here in scandinavia at least would call quite dark. The darker it is roaster, the more of the defects in the coffee is camouflaged by the caramelized sugars and will taste quite bitter and often burnt.
If you feel like you need milk or sugar in the coffee it is most likely a habit that stems from being used to drinking poor quality coffee, and wanting to make it less bitter.
If you drink light roasted good quality coffee it will be much better for your stomach because darker roasts have more astringent oils that tend to upset your stomach more. If I drink regular supermarket coffee I have to run to the bathroom, but I drink liters of good coffee every day without issue.
I don't know where you live, but if you go to a specialty coffee shop nearby and ask to taste their most unique and interesting coffees I bet you'll be surprised at what coffee CAN taste like 😛
question if you traveling in Norway can you wild camp and fishing ?
example camp on a lake shore get you fishing pole and fish
You can camp anywhere, but need a fishing permit to fish. Often you can get it online.
