  • This is a comfort food meal that I make for my family a lot. It is home style cooking, therefore I don’t have an exact recipe, and I never make it the same way twice. It always comes out good though.

    That looks like a great meal.
    I really like your Rocket Stove. I bought a cheap one from Stanbroil for emergencies that I will keep at our North Central Louisiana home where we have 3 acres of oak, hickory, pine trees, and others (with lots of limbs after every storm). I always have something to burn as long as we are not in a burn ban.

      You know in next Monday’s video I will be alluding to a Stanbroil product and Rocket Stove.

      It’s good I like to make it, but I’m not sure how far I’ve since strayed fro the traditional recipe.

    I love rocket stoves! I made one out of cinder blocks one time back when I was a kid! I was enamored with it then, so not much has changed! Great Video!

      Thank you. It is the most fun out door cooker I have ever used. It not the easy as a gas grill, so there is work but it’s fun work. Not tedious work. I love using it.

    Great cast iron action on the Rocket Stove! Love the wood splits. Big Lew can use what ever wine he likes! You should make some Tetrazzini, also great stuff. Made both in the Navy on a regular basis, but never with a great Rocket Stove! Great video Brother! God Bless!

      Chicken a la king is such a great comfort food. I do I courage you to look up a more traditional or authentic recipe. I vary mine a little bit every time I make it, because I’ve made it so much I don’t really measure anything and I make use of what I have on hand.

      Look up a more authentic or traditional recipe, I’ve made this for so long and varied the recipe so much that I don’t know what the authentic one is supposed to be.

      @@Mankitchenrecipes mushrooms are an integral part of chicken a la king. I’ve made variations to the recipe, but to leave out mushrooms or chicken would make it something that is certainly not chicken a la king.

    I've always heard of this Big Lew but really didn't know what it was. I'm sure it's much better using grilled chicken. Good work on that Rocket Stove Bud!

    • @BigLewBBQ

      Well if you make it, look up a more authentic recipe. I’ve made this for so long and varied it so much I don’t think it’s truly chicken a la king anymore, jus something very similar to it.
      Thanks for watching Rob.

    I love to watch Cowboy Kent, and I respect him. But, he still clings to some outdated ideas when it comes to cast iron. I will say that I use wood as a precaution because I can dig down on the fond to scrape it without gouging the seasoning. Looking good as always, Lew. Except for that “cooking” wine. You can have that nastiness 😂.

    • @BigLewBBQ
      @BigLewBBQ  5 місяців тому +1

      Well I don’t buy white wine, and the very dry red wines that I drink wouldn’t go well for this. You do you. Yes, I watch CKR a lot, but I disagree with some of his cast iron advice. I often use a wooden roux spoon, yet I couldn’t find it that evening. I located it the next day.
      Thanks for watching.
