  • This was such an outstanding experience for us to return to the Rice Museum 8 years after our first visit. In that time period, we have learned so much and have a better understand and respect for a collection of this magnitude.
    Enjoy the show!
    Please visit their website and if you're ever in NW Oregon you should take the time to visit. ricenorthwestmuseum.org/

    My gracious! That is an outstanding collection,...of everything! It truly is amazing and your video, barely scratched the surface of what you can see there! It is just amazing! I can't even imagine owning even 1 of those pieces! Those... museum quality pieces, let alone all of them! It is just overwhelming! I can see why having a membership to the museum would be handy! There is no way you can honestly do it justice and see everything in one day! Even if it is a particular mineral that you aren't really fond of, you still have to appreciate the class of display material that they have! It's just amazing! And the zeolite room is .... there are no words! The huge display pieces! I have a tiny piece of thomsonite in my collection and I look at those and it's like two different worlds apart! Wow! Thank you for showing this! I live in Portland, and haven't even thought about visiting the Rice Museum in forever! Now I want to go! Thanks Jared and Sarah! I hope you left some zeolites in the gift shop, for the rest of us! Lol!😂

    AWESOME collection of minerals at the Rice Museum in Oregon. I doubt that I will ever see it in person. I've only been in Oregon once, in the latter 1970's, during a round-trip cross-country road trip with my parents, after my dad retired from teaching Vocational Agriculture in a high school in Connecticut, to the NW'ern portions of OR and CA.

      Uniquely, the Rice Museum is a popular location for visitors from Arizona- it is not all that unusual to spy some Arizona plates in our parking lot. And while you probably wouldn't visit just to see Arizona minerals, we have an outstanding collection of them- a quick database search shows 250+ AZ specimens. If you go to the Tucson Gem and Minerals show, stop by the museum displays- you'll see us there!

    • @CurrentlyRockhounding
      @CurrentlyRockhounding  9 місяців тому +4

      Currently the state of the monetization channel is that I am making money from the ads but its a fraction of what it once was. As well they now have this on my end of things "Note that ad breaks don’t guarantee ads will appear for every viewer." meaning that some people will see ads regardless of what I do or get.
      This video has earned about $4 here which is painful for me considering that we drove 800 miles round trip for this and got a hotel for one night to make this happen. Perhaps some day the low paying ads on this video will put a tiny dent in the production costs but until then Patreon is what makes these videos happen.
      I don't expect anyone to join Patreon or even watch the ads here but I'm just trying to juggle on the plates so that I can keep making these videos happen.

      @CurrentlyRockhounding knowing this now, I will watch every add in its entirety in support of this channel. You're a lapidary teacher, and your diy is saving money for those who watch and follow. Thank you for this.

    That is absolutely not dinosaur skin. The display is of turtle plate fragments along with crocodile scute (armour).

      Why exactly do you think that?
      You should reach to the museum with your reasons and credentials about this subject if you believe they have made a mistake.

      I have been hunting dinosaurs as a hobby for 30 years. No credentials, just lots of field time and confirming our finds at the Royal Tyrrell Museum and any literature in our personal library.

      Here is a place to start. Page 38 has some pictures that are exactly what is displayed in that cabinet. The top 2 specimens are from a different type of turtle that lived along side the more common one. naturalhistory.si.edu/sites/default/files/media/file/fossil-id-guide062812-accessible.pdf I could link more of the same, if it would help?

      @@garypomreinke5694 Did you email or call them with this information? Also its very possible that you're incorrect here as well since you have only seen them in my video and do not know what verification processes they did. If you think you are correct you should email them.
