the snap and punch of his picked notes is amazing. His touch is brilliant. They say about guitar pickers: your left hand is what you know, and your right is who you are.
Cory talented, and also he has played guitar for 25 years and grew up with a father that was a very good guitar player also. So talent is just a small part of it.
Here's a try : quickenpicking I say humbly since there would have to be some visibillyity today and here forward to share it far and wide - next Webster's Dictionary out someday soon I wonder? Hey there just backtrack oh yeah... Visibillyity! (n) to have Billy Strings attached to the music media. Guessing that one is 40 times better. Whatcha say online commentators?
Billy's talent is both spectacular and sublime. His ability to faithfully replicate Doc Watson and then springboard from there to a higher level is nothing short of miraculous. Without a doubt the finest acoustic guitarist working today...not to mention an outstanding vocalist.
I break into a smile 😊 every time this young genius starts to play !!! His Daddy deserves an award 🥇! Not sure how you raise a genius unless you have an Island of genius yourself! Billy Strings you are a gift from GOD!!!
Watching Billy play must be something to see. He can pick and good as he can sing. That guitar sounds amazing. I’m so glad these videos are around for us all to enjoy. Billy just keeps getting better and better. I saw a recent interview where Billy played a 1940 Martin D28. I checked with my local guitar center and that guitar cost around $70000. I don’t know if that is the guitar he uses here, but such a great performance. He can really play those Doc Watson songs.
i love bluegrass and make no mistake Billy knows how to play more than just bluegrass he plays it all and can stand on the roots it dont get no better than that fact
I'm back again. I've watched this 10 thousand times. love it. I really enjoy Billy's singing. Oh yeah, and by the way 5:46 ;) RIP Doc Watosn - Keep pickin' Billy
The first time I ever saw Billy I recognized the talent, and he's just got better as time has passed. Hope he keeps his head on his shoulders, and stays after it! He's as great a guy, as he is an awesome picker.
Geez I'm glad I decided to give country and bluegrass music a bit of look at recently, so many great artists with such a bright futures in front of them ...
Woot woot then woot again until the very occasion some bright fall evening to see Billy live once again. Also a compliment to the green screen lake view background visuals.
At 2:06 the host is talking on camera during the performance. Even if he was making production adjustments, extremely unprofessional and very rude to the guest star.
Ol’ Bill kills murder ballads lol. I love how you can see the effect of such powerful music on the host. I couldn’t have stayed that calm. Ida been cheesin too, or maybe trying to hambone lol. Kudos and hugs!
Nice to hear Glenn Brown get the shout out he deserves! Little known factoid: Glenn was in a band during his college years with bass player Bill Laswell.
Watch his video playing in airport terminal ....ONE is listening. Go to walnut Valley festival alot of " Billy's" " Molly's " there. He's carrying the torch ( wonder if he plays 12 string?)
Adam Steffy is most likely the expert on this subject. He is using the term "primative" to describe it. I don't have the complete understanding of the harmonic relationships involved in modal music to explain it.
You must be a msuician too cuz i 100% agree with this, everytime i play a song to people or show a recording they talk through it and ask questions, i think since non musicians play they dont have the same respect as another musician when it comes to playing live
ITS ALL ABOUT THE SOUND,the music, and loving it. Don't judge a book by its cover,( Tomboy Productions) !! 18 hrs ago. I don't have tattoos, but to each his own.
@Randall Swanson No, he kept both (D-MA and the Brazilian D-BA). And the No.1 of his Signature Series by Preston Thompson went to his dad! There is a nice Video...ua-cam.com/video/VEt5MclYwoE/v-deo.html
i have to disagree. i would put him right up there with Tony Rice, Glenn Campbell who is top of the heap too me.of course there is Sutton and many others i admire..
Never talk while Billy is playing. Whatever it is you have to say, it can wait.
Or anyone that's giving an inspired intense performance.
Yea that’s really rude.
the snap and punch of his picked notes is amazing. His touch is brilliant. They say about guitar pickers: your left hand is what you know, and your right is who you are.
I like that
I'm gonna say it, he's one of the best guitarists I've ever heard in my life. If not the best
Yes Billy is an acoustic MASTER!
Have you heard him lately? Unbelievable!!
Agreed! Unbelievable...and as someone posted above...he's only gotten better. Crazy talented.
Cory talented, and also he has played guitar for 25 years and grew up with a father that was a very good guitar player also. So talent is just a small part of it.
And a great singer too!
This dude is so badass, that a new word needs to be invented to describe his badassery.

VISIBILLYITY
Unbelievable. Billy Strings is beyond words. How can all this talent be present in such a young kid??
Billy's talent is both spectacular and sublime. His ability to faithfully replicate Doc Watson and then springboard from there to a higher level is nothing short of miraculous. Without a doubt the finest acoustic guitarist working today...not to mention an outstanding vocalist.

Just love that rendition of 15 Cents. Note Billy sings that song with his eyes closed as a tribute to Doc. Yea, Doc's music lives through Billy.
Love that too brilliant

Please keep doing stuff like this Billy! Really helps us guitar players get better...
Totally amazing just wish more people in the UK knew about him ,im really trying to spread the word
I love your music Mr Strings ! Thank you for all the music you do. God bless you.
Me: I don't like bluegrass
Billy Strings: Oh yeah? Watch this.
Me: I stand corrected.
True story.
that's the best. john hartford corrected me years ago.
I never disliked bluegrass music but I never watched it for hours until I came across Billy Strings
i love bluegrass and make no mistake Billy knows how to play more than just bluegrass he plays it all and can stand on the roots it dont get no better than that fact

Who are the 12 crackheads that thumbsdowned this stellar performance!? :-)
I've probably watched this video at least 10 times in the past few days
me too ;-)
So clean- so good it hurts,
If for one day I could walk in his shoes
Instead of playing these old blues
Geez I'm glad I decided to give country and bluegrass music a bit of look at recently, so many great artists with such a bright futures in front of them ...
The interviewer tried for Dust In A Baggie, but was denied. He's gotta be tired of playing that song.
Big hits like that are usually both a blessing and a curse
best guitarist in the history of guitarists and worst interviewer in the history of interviewers.
Amazing Billy Strings!!!!!!😎🎸
I made that same comment on another video...cant recall which...there habe been a whole lotta Billy Strings videos as of late..Love him.
I love his duets with Molly Tuttle. Two monster pickers for sure.
My Feathers are Fluffed...they sure are!
Love it. That’s some serious pickin’ ..and singing too
Make tutorial of this pls
I love these clips.. my heart 💚👁️💚
Hard to believe this guy was in a heavy metal band in his younger days . I predict this young man has a big future .great stuff .
Not really it comes through his guitar playing pretty clearly
Give me back my fifteen cents.... classic Doc stuff....you go Billy Strings!
Great tunes. Love your solo performances.
The kid can truly play. Have mercy!
A very talented young man! Great picker and vocalist as well.
That was fun to watch.
Debra Apostol agreed!
Billy Strings.....the REAL fucking deal!! Pardon my French. All the Bluegrass forefathers (and Mothers) are smiling...
Well, I'll be buying that record.
That right hand......wicked.
Good lord that damn guitar is an absolute cannon!!
Well I know what to do now...burn my guitar and listen to a kid. The best!
Ol’ Bill kills murder ballads lol. I love how you can see the effect of such powerful music on the host. I couldn’t have stayed that calm. Ida been cheesin too, or maybe trying to hambone lol. Kudos and hugs!
The riff starting at 5:35.Good lord I gotta learn that
Flawless....
allways great to hear you bill
The interviewer really gets on my nerves here. You got a legend in the making in front of you and you're looking and talking off camera?
Adrianna sanchez I think it was a sound check
Agree. His off-camera antics are a distraction from the audience's enjoyment of the world's greatest living guitarist.
Nice to hear Glenn Brown get the shout out he deserves!
Little known factoid: Glenn was in a band during his college years with bass player Bill Laswell.
See Billy shoot a stare at the guy when he was bull shitting?
You can really hear it ring out from over the hilltops
DAMN GOOD! WOW
Watch his video playing in airport terminal ....ONE is listening. Go to walnut Valley festival alot of " Billy's" " Molly's " there. He's carrying the torch ( wonder if he plays 12 string?)
Billy is awesome. 🎶
Adam Steffy is most likely the expert on this subject. He is using the term "primative" to describe it. I don't have the complete understanding of the harmonic relationships involved in modal music to explain it.
Fast forward to the Halloween Run at Harrah's this year! Kid's just getting better and better! ❤❤33 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐⚡🔥💃
Billy is the real thing!
There must be good stuff in the Michigan water too. . .
And lead
Great music. Truly great. Terrible interviewer. Truly terrible. He needs to talk to someone during Wild Bill Jones? Really???
You must be a msuician too cuz i 100% agree with this, everytime i play a song to people or show a recording they talk through it and ask questions, i think since non musicians play they dont have the same respect as another musician when it comes to playing live
No need for the douchebag to even be in the shot to begin with
.
I have never heard wild Bill before is it one of his?if not it seems it was was done for him to play,, Thxs for posting, gb
Wheres those other guitar players?? Lol
He is amazing. Talent like I've never seen.
Perfection
The interviewer is tapping out some insane subdivions
I lol'd
You can hear the influence the first song had on turmoil and tinfoil those breaks are almost identical
Sounds like he’s in open tuning. What ever it’s out of this world good
I was wondering that too it’s got be a lot of open notes
It's indeed normal tuning he's just fast as shit
Detroit. Representin'
ITS ALL ABOUT THE SOUND,the music, and loving it. Don't judge a book by its cover,( Tomboy Productions) !! 18 hrs ago. I don't have tattoos, but to each his own.
What songs are played in this interview?
whats that other guys T-shirt say?
I must say that the name fits him.
Why is he on camera during a performance ?
He is pulling a lot of stuff out of the modal mountain tradition that is otherwise been missing in the contemporary blue grass scene.
Tell me a little more about what you mean I can hear but can’t explain it...please
Anyone know a good lesson on this?
Just gotta sell your soul to the devil first
Yeah, you just saw it!! lol
That's a terrible chair for pickin'....get some stools, but great clip! Thanks!
Lol I just noticed the arm rests, ouch.
Songs in order?
whats the first song?
Wild bill jones
The interviewer hung his head and cried... the shame.
BMFS !
This dude next to Billy doesn't know a guitar from a 53 buick !
What is the guitar?
Believe it's a Thompson guitar.
Mat Lindell Thompson D-MA. One of the best kept secrets out there......
Oh wait. Not anymore.
Unidentifiable after the fire.🔥
I think it's one of Preston Thompson's Dreadnaughts.
@Randall Swanson No, he kept both (D-MA and the Brazilian D-BA). And the No.1 of his Signature Series by Preston Thompson went to his dad! There is a nice Video...ua-cam.com/video/VEt5MclYwoE/v-deo.html
He’s far, far from the best, but he’s good and fun to listen too. PS. , Billy knows he’s not the best. He’s good enough to know that!
i have to disagree. i would put him right up there with Tony Rice, Glenn Campbell who is top of the heap too me.of course there is Sutton and many others i admire..
The cringe emanating from the host in unbearable. Why should he even be in frame?
