If I get a chance to edit the other footage, I may replace this one with better info. Basically....the current kit will work with the Toy hubs/rotors....I just need to make different inner bearing adapters for it.

    Mega interesting stuff! Cheers Mike

Thanks Mike!! I took move vid. I may end up replacing this vid with another. I put this one up privately to share some insight with someone else. Right after I made it public, I found the other vid footage which gives a much better look at the bracket and final fit. I was pretty surprised everything lined up so nicely!!

Turning into Datyotas now. Soon you will be the All Nippon manufacturing company.

I’ve checked your website and I did not see any Datsun 521 5 lug conversion kits. Are there kits available or can it be special ordered? Really don’t want to use 5 to 6 lug adapters for skinnies

contact me via the contact page on my site. They're basically special order. I have 4 kits on hand and I think I have one set of inner adapters for toyota 5 lug hub for the 521.

Hello sir I had some questions if you could please help me out. I see all of your brake kits and stuff are for the datsun and other small trucks. And I have heard you say some of the 5 lug hubs will fit on a chevy luv. Do you have any kits or parts for a Chevy luv? Or information about some parts or bearing sizes so I can build my on 5x4.75 5 lug disc brake setup. Thanks for all of your help.
You do some very nice machine work too

Sorry, I don't have anything for the LUV trucks. I misspoke......rather, I was wrong about the other hubs fitting the LUV trucks. I thought the bearings were the same, but a viewer pointed out that they are not. I just looked at rockauto. The LUV spindle is smaller diameter than the HB. At the inner bearing, there's enough difference that an adapter could be made. At the outer, it's a bit too close in my opinion. The wall on the outer adapter would only be about .028".
Rockauto is a great reference for bearing dimensions. A Mustang hub uses the same inner bearing as the Toyota hub, but the outer bearing has a larger ID.....so the wall thickness could be a bit thicker. There are other references on the web where you can find/look up bearing dimensions and sort through them. It can take tons of time to compare the bearing options, then try to find a hub that uses those bearings.
Another option you might consider, or look into......swapping spindles. I don't know if the LUV is front steer or rear steer, so you'd want to match that....but if you found another vehicle(most likely a small truck) with a similar wheel base and width, the ackerman angle should be close enough to work. You might have to change ball joints to match the taper angle, or have the tapers in the spindles reamed to match your ball joint taper.
I've easily got over a 1000 hours into digging for this kind of info on the Datsuns. I hardly have time right now to even get in my shop, let alone start any new projects. lol You can contact me thru my site.... www.bluehandsinc.com/contact-bhi.html ......I hardly have any time during the week, but I might be able to help point you in the right direction or be a sounding board for ideas.

I just pulled up my CAD program to check the outer bearing adapters I currently make.....the wall is only .029" and I've been making them for years. So...it looks like an outer bearing adapter is not out of the question for you. Your spindle looks to be about 30mm. The Datsun kingpin spindle is 32mm, which means that the adapter's ID would need to be smaller.....which is actually a good thing. There's still a lot more that needs to be checked and verified before saying it can be done, but this should get you off to a good start.

Ok cool thank you for your time and information sir. It wasn't in this actual video you said about the hub being the same as a luv. And u can't find your video again. It was machine the inside of the hub so the bearings race went farther inside the hub so the hub would fit on the spindle correctly and get the castle nut on all the. I remember you kept say hard body and I think a 270 or something like that.

You're welcome. Yep....I figured it was the other vid you were referring to. :) There's other dimensions needed from the spindle to figure out the rest of it.

Is this possible for a old Datsun truck? I would love to go 6 lug to 5 lug on mine !

Will the 620 kingpins swap over to the 320s as well?

    • @bluehandsvideo
      @bluehandsvideo  6 років тому

Sort of, bot not directly. The connection between the LCA and the dogbone is a bit different between the two. The kingpins themselves are actually the same, but the bushings and a couple of other pieces are different. The 320 kingpins are the same as the 521....here's a vid showing the difference between the 521 and 620 kingpin kits.

The first part of this vid will show you the differences between the dogbone/spindle setup on the 320 and 620.
