It sounds exactly like 1980. I'm not fucking kidding. What an incredible time warp this is.
That fact that Wheeler has been drumming for Icehouse since 1986 is nothing short of remarkable...and he looks just great despite the years. A great percussionist without any doubt!
a great beat.
And he’s still smashing it out in 2022. Simply amazing energy!
He hasn't changed since I met him in 1988. Super nice guy!
Paul Wheeler kicks ass.
World class.
I was watching and was gonna post exactly that 👍😂
He's fantastic
Yeah why won't be play drums for me??? 🙃
That he does!
very clean groove.
I've said it once. I'll say it for the 90,000th time~
Icehouse and Japan were two of the most unsung and innovative bands of the 80s.
The fact neither are better known and recognized for their genius and influence, is fucking criminal. No other way to say it.
Totally agree. Iva and David played second fiddle to all the pretty boys of the 80s. Should have been MASSIVE. At least we have good taste 🙂
@Stuart Maxwell -- can't be all that awful; it just sold me on buying the original album. So I guess hearing that album's gonna be AMAZING :)
greetings from the us, i would add Alphaville to your list of underrated bands of the 80s .
so Icehouse, Japan and Alphaville !
@@davepirtle9790 Wow. Can't believe this comment survived 10 years and I did too! I casually listened to Alphaville mainly because my gf at the time was into them. But by '88 at the start of my senior year in HS, I was trending out of post-New Wave and "Forever Young", kinda sealed it for me. Not a bad song of course. I just had run my course with that style of music at that moment. I should go back and check out more of their earlier work which I'm sure similar to Icehouse, Japan(and tons of other New Romantic/NV bands), is worth a listen.
What a great debut. So many Australian bands have made world class debut albums and this one Icehouse by Flowers (then known) is a great example
Credit to Keith Welsh, not only was he in Icehouse years ago, hes now their management and then comes back and rocks HOMEBACK with them, very talented 👍🎸
Wow awesome!!! Paul Wheeler killing it on the drums, and the band still sounds good after 37 years 😊👍🏻
Agreed! 41 years today.
Great Australian Band! One of the best in the world!
Iva Davies, just keeping rocking.
Icehouse was the last gig I saw live in NZ before moving on to Aus, a couple weeks later saw them live again at the Coogee Bay Hotel, Sydney....blew me away.
This band has stained by mind since I was 5 years old, here I am.
First cassette tape I ever bought was Man of Colours in late 1987... played it though my PYE walkman well over 1000 times. First live gig I saw was Icehouse at The Empire on Hindly St (Adelaide) in around 1993. Still so awsome to this day.....
First saw Flowers @ The Arkaba Hotel 1980!
Ixegouse4 have always been great fo😊😊😊r me
AAAAAAAAAA!!!!! I've been a musician for over 40 years, and I've had this album (US/UK version) for 39 years and thanks to this video, Mr Wheeler has FINALLY helped me find the beat at the beginning of 'Icehouse'!!! THANK YOU!!!
As good as the band is I have never seen a drummer work so hard and hold the rest all together so well! Totally awesome work Mr Wheeler.
Yep. IMHO he is one of the best drummers in the country. His energy is impressive and he is very physical. Brilliant to watch.
Mark Anderson The drummer is up there with Rob Hirst I reckon.
***** hmm this guy can out play the def leppard drummer with one arm behind his back
***** Your comment is irrelevant

The video and audio quality is awesome. And yaaaay for Glenn playing an X7 - excellent choice.
Paul is fantastic on the drums. One of the best in the history of Rock 'n Roll in my view.

Thank you so much for shearing this Great Souther land Music. Just a Classic!!!!! Ice house for Ever Amigos, from Santiago / Chile. Leave There for 5 Beautiful years. Muchas Gracias amigos. Good on ya!!!
The 1st album, my fave of all and then they do Iggy/David's Funtime, what a show. Though Primitive Man is also an excellent record too. So many great songs on those first 2 albums and they are a superb live band. First saw them around 1980 in Auckland NZ.
This is REAL Aussie talent at its very best!! Rock it ICEHOUSE!! Happy Australia Day 2022!!
Amazing, wish I could've been there/
Far out his voice is still awesome !

Great show, well done. Sound is spot on and very well captured.
OMG, I just came across this, WHAT WONDERFUL MEMORIES with each song he sang, ty Iva and Icehouse for the AMAZING LIFE MEMORIES OF MY TEENS !!!!!!!!!! 52 n still lovin the guys x
Saw Icehouse in The Dunedin Town Hall (NZ) on August 15th 1984. I was 21 and life couldn't get any better. I can distinctly remember Iva 'floating' onto the stage to open their gig. I wondered to myself if he was stoned, then I had another thought, or was it me. I saw Cold Chisel and The Angels at the same venue a few years later. Awesome gigs. Awesome memories. Life changed for me big time in 1990 at the age of 26 when I had my near-death motorcycle accident and became a left leg amputee at hip
Glad you survived!

Who is this drummer? He’s transformed the music! It has a drive it’s never had! Seen 3 times now and it’s been best with Mr X the drummer. The start to icehouse is just fantastic
His name is Paul Wheeler and he's been with the band since 1986. And yes he was very young then 🤣
I saw Flowers at the Bondi Lifesaver 1979. I was underage, there was Kevin Borich and Jimmy and the Boys. but I recall Flowers were the best act. I remember 'Funtime' lol.
Awesome like always 🤩🤩🤩
I LOVE ICEHOUSE ❣️❣️❣️❣️
Sounds awesome would have loved to hear “ Nothing To Do” and “Street Cafe”
Best World band.

Great Band
The Cars covered Funtime as well. Love the way both Iva and the late Ben Orr did. Really love The Cars' version.
Was hoping for Send Somebody. Should have been on the album.
This is absolutely awesome . John Lloyd should have made a guest appearance also...
Quem dera ir no shoyu deles um dia quem dera.
👏 cat 🙀 QUEEN 👑
Truely FABULOUS and who'd have picked Youse lot,
as a bunch of Goddies.
What a LOVELY surprise. 💋 bunch 💐 🌹 I cried through most of it, a cleansing cry. ✈
Hey... Many thx's for the upload, shit this brings back the memories... grew up in Sth Auckland, hanging out & driving around in my Ford "Cortina" with of course the Flowers/Icehouse cassettes basting away. Been living in Europe the past 20 odd
years....omg where did the time go;-)
Oh wow...Auckland and a Ford Cortina...me too at this time in history. 🤣🤣🤣 what are the odds. I live in Aus now.
Heaven ☰ sent
The Essenes ARE Everywhere
Epic live performance! :D
totally agree
Godfather of glam - To my understanding the full credit goes to Marc Bolan and T.Rex ...
Yes mate.
I was here 2011. Remember being bummed no electric blue
Pogo!!!
Love the HUGE female backing vox in Get It On ;-)
Lovely gig, great playing. Only sad that they didn't play Sons.
Go Paul Wheeler
Paul, best drum.
Hardly the entire album which is a shame because they missed out on some gems!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TOUR THE UK AGAIN IVA!
good job
when you get over the they have aged an accept that we have to it,sfun
flyin' wig in croed during drumer ZOOM intro ...soo intense
I wonder if Paul Wheeler has ever dropped his drumstick, when spinning it up in the air. 😂
Great stuff. Shame they never gave Not My Kind or Paradise Lost an airing.
Yeah! Very odd that they'd leave off the best song - Not My Kind. Can't be that hard to play live. Wonder why they didn't play it.
They also never played Sons (of Decay)
I always thought The Flowers was a much better name. I saw 'Icehouse' in London in the 1980's.
saudades de caarapó me...
Should’ve played the album all the way through and ended the set with Paradise Lost as per track listing.
lol doggy fukn funny , this lot is still a class act , they are play an album from 30yr ago , can you name 1 album from todays pop bull shit that will get any air time in 30yrs ........ !!!! i think not
Duran Duran are still going too. There are others. That era was a good one
Hi Tim. Great footage! I'm editing together an interview I did recently with Steve Bull, and was wondering if I could use 30 seconds or so of this footage (with credit of course). It will appear in a vlog I do (called 'Circle of Light' that you can find in a playlist on my UA-cam Channel. All the best, Amanda
