She's Belgian from her father, Italian by her mom and French Canadian of herself deciding by 1991 to live in Montreal in Quebec, Canada! She speak fully around 5 languages, and sing in around 12 or 13 languages! She's the Mentor of Dimash and even asked to Igor Krutoy to help Dimash to create song for him! She's as well the absolute idol icon for Dimash for stage performance and breath singing!

@@PrymalChaos She's singing in Italian. Italian is way more "sing-songing" than Spanish... It's not strange to switch from a language to another... It's normal in most european countries (except for the UK, Ireland, Spain, Italy and France) to speak several languages, it's not a big deal. Her languages are French and Italian. She speaks fluently English (as you can see... She barely has an accent) and Spanish. She speaks Dutch and Portuguese, not fluently. Her accent in Spanish is wonderful and her accent in Portuguese is pretty good.

Another great reaction. Watched this video and others of Lara countless times and I keep waiting for the videos to get old to me and move on to someone else. It hasn't happened. Been listening to her for months and her songs just keep reaching into my soul and enriching it every time. She is the total package. In my opinion, mentioning that she is beautiful is relevant because she absolutely is one of the most beautiful women on the planet. Please keep reacting to her live performances. You have just scratched the surface.

Fabian's voice/performances give me chills & goosebumps. Repeatedly. I too keep waiting for the effect to wear off, as it does, but it hasn't with her.
I even looked up the science of goosebumps: best guess is they are a reaction to things that surprise us...but then, how do these performances I've seen a hundred times keep doing it to me? 🤔

Perfect comment: 'It's beautiful because of its simplicity.'
That's exactly my experience of living in Italy when I did. 'La dolce vita' is built out of simplicities of living in the moment with all your heart.
It's that thing when you go to your local cafe in the morning and get your "un cornetto colla crema ed un espresso, per favore". And everything about that is perfect. The coffee is not burnt and the cornetto is fresh and there is a a perfect proportion of sweetness and pastry.
Like it is this moment when Lara expresses her emotions in the perfectness of her voice. Nothing else exists.

Yes, her breaths are very intentional... to portray emotions... not because she needs them to sing, not even close.. she has far more breath control than that.. I'm so glad you pointed that out.. Also a lot of people believe that she's actually sad or going through something but she's just that good at making the listener feel the emotion of the song..

Posting again some information about Lara Fabian:
Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best.
There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register.
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
    • she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total
    • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-composes the music with the composer.
    • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
    • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia). She was raised in both countries so she speaks both french and italian as native languages.
She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today.
She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship
She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music).
in 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary and the song you just reviewed is from this concert.
But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan.
She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Asia where she became an absolute superstar thru her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years.
She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace" used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera topped the charts for months.
Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban, …
With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there.
Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA is now rediscovering her.
She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep.
He covered many of her songs (that she performed originally ; she also wrote some of these)
Out of my mind I can list:
    • Adagio,
    • Mademoiselle Hyde,
    • Know,
    • Love of tired swans,
She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ».
She covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva)
And they performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina.
This is a song that she performed originally with Dmitriy Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida.
Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy who came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him.
Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs:
    • Floor Jansen (Adagio)
    • Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime)
    • Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie)
    • Morissette Amon (Broken Vow)
    • Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace)
    • Cakra Khan (Broken Vow)
    • Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow)
    • Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade)
    • ....
Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.

Lara's native languages are Italian and French. She speaks both since she was 3 years old. Then she learned English and Spanish when she was 10 years old. Currently she is able to speak and compose songs in Italian, French, English, Spanish fluently. But she is also able to have a little conversation in Russian, Portuguese (she evn co-wrote a song in Portuguese with perfect accent, as a Brazilian I can say, the song it's called "Meu Grande Amor", which means My greatest love), and Flemish (Flemish is the native language of her father, she was born in the Flemish part of Belgium country, her daddy if from there. But she was raised in Italy till her 5/6 years old. From 8 to 18 years old she attended the Brussels Royal Music Conservatory in Belgium. She learned how to sing, play piano, guitar, write and read music core, her teachers were Master in bel canto and opera, but she decided to focus in the pop style, even though she is able to sing in operatic style, and she uses her bel canto skills in her pop songs, with her perfect breath control and pasagios. She is able to hold C5 and D5 in chest voice for over 20 seconds, without strain the larynx. Vídeo bellow shows she singing in 12 languages.
Thank you for one more reaction of Lara's.

One day Lucio Dalla broke is boat in front of Gulf of Sorrento. I Asked a friend for help and the friend was the owner of the hotel (Grand Hotel Excelsior Victoria)
where Caruso (famous tenor of the past) died. The friend gave to Lucio the Caruso's room. At the same time chance willed that the barman of the restaurant "La Scogliera" tale to Lucio Dalla that Caruso had fallen in love with an unrequited love for a young girl to which he gave singing lessons.
    Shortly after, Caruso died.

Caruso, is an italian song, written, composed and performed in 1986 by Lucio Dalla as a tribute to Enrico Caruso, the most famous tenor of his time (late 19th / early 20th century). He was the first global singing superstar.
The story is about the last days of Enrico Caruso, he knows he is dying, and he is remembering all his career on stage and telling his much younger wife how much he loves her.
It has very quickly become a classic of italia music and the biggest names have covered it (Julio Iglesias, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, …. and of course Luciano Pavarotti).
But for many, Lara's version is the best ever, as she was able, with her unique ability to convey the emotions of a song, to reveal the real sad story written by Lucio Dalla.
I was told that Lucio Dalla himself, after hearing this performance, said that she made it her song and this is the best version he has heard from it.
For Lara, this song is really important as this is a kind of anthem for Italy, and she is so much connected to this country. She spent the first few years of her life there with her sicilian mother and grandma. Her husband is also sicilian.

The writer of this song, Lucio Dalla (from Bologna, northern Italy), wrote this in 1986 while staying in one of the rooms where Enrico Caruso, former famous tenor (From Neaples, southern Italy), spent the final days of his life. Caruso was 48-years-old when he died, and a few years before Caruso died, he married Dorothy Park Benjamin who was 20 years younger. They had a baby girl they named Gloria. Lucio Dalla wrote this song while imagining how Caruso, who knew he was dying, would have said goodbye to his young wife - the love of his life.
curiosity: in sicilian dialect the word caruso means (ragazzo) boy.

Enrico Caruso (*1873 in Naples, † 1921 ibid; actually Errico Caruso) was an Italian opera singer. He is considered the most famous tenor of the early 20th century and one of the most important singers in the world of opera.
Caruso was famous for his baritone voice and stage presence. In a performance of La Bohème he sang an aria for the suddenly voiceless bass so convincingly that no one in the audience noticed.
Caruso established a new, exemplary style of singing in which the focus was not on beautiful performance but on becoming one with the character being portrayed.
Caruso is the name everyone knows and to which every opera singer is compared. Those who have seen him describe the onset of his voice with the warm power of an organ.
Caruso still holds the record of 863 appearances on the Metropolitan Opera stage.
And it was Caruso who initiated the triumph of the record with his work.
Caruso's generosity was legendary. For example, during his most successful years at the Metropolitan Opera, he gave almost all employees Christmas presents.
His sense of humor was also famous. Again and again he joked with his stage colleagues, for example sewing up a sleeve of a coat that a colleague in La Bohème had to wear during the performance, or filling water in a discarded hat that someone had to wear in the performance.
3 years before his death he married the American millionaire daughter Dorothy Park Benjamin. With her he had a daughter, Gloria, at the age of 45.
He died at the age of 48 from protracted pleurisy and blood poisoning. (www)

It's normal that Lara "feels" this song more, because Italian is one of her languages and this song it's about Italy, her mother was from Sicily. Lara lived there from 1 to 5 years. She used to spend her vacation there when she was a child and teen.

I love your reactions to Lara Fabian. Lara brings "theatre" to musical performances, living and interpreting the songs. Her Italian sensitivity and dramatic nonverbals are so powerful, as you mention. I had a good friend from Sicily who always "talked with his hands" as he put it. It is engaging because it's so refreshing to see real people not afraid of feeling and showing feelings.
I think you would really like "Requiem Pour Un Fou" with Lara and Johnny Hallyday (the "Elvis" of France. It is not metal but is a totally different musical experience that seems like musical theatre. This is a good link to a version with subtitles. ua-cam.com/video/zR1rkt_0biA/v-deo.html They are vital to really understanding the power and darkness of the song. As with "je suis malade" where "malade" means mentally/emotionally sick, this "fou" means someone out of their mind, not just a "fool". Sorry to stray but that seems like a performance you may be able to appreciate as well.

He likened it to the traditional dialect (that the song is performed in) is more 'rural' and she sings it a little more 'city' if that makes sense. He talked about different regions of Italy, etc.

I have heard Caruso sung by many singers and I haven't liked it. It was just one of those songs that was repetative and overblown by these highly venerated artists (usually Tenors). Just, ugh. So I almost skipped listening to Lara sing it.
It's like it's a completely different song! Is it the emotion? Is it her phrasing? Is it her delicate touch where all the others seemed to be heavy-handed and forceful? Is it the way she seems to suspend some of those notes leaving us eager to hear the next one even though we know what it will be? Even just one of these makes her interpretation so much better than any other I've heard but all of them together feels ethereal!

I found your channel and I like your professional point of view on singers performances. Lara Fabian is, for me, the ultimate reference of what a singer ( and performer ) has to be.
Her concert " from Lara with love " is , for me, the concert of the century. All songs, and I mean all songs , in this concert are masterpieces . I am only sad that people are discovering her now... 20 years later.
At a different level , but at a very promising level, I would like to present you a young British singer: Lucy Thomas. She is now, 18, but she posted videos for more than 5 years . Most of them had more than a million views in a year. Her best success is "Hallelujah" from Leonard Cohen: now approaching 17 millions views in a little more than a year. She cannot be bad, don't you think?
All of other videos are also , in my point of view, amazing.
Hope you will find time to discover her. She really deserve it
