Never go in dry - always ends in tears! Top work as expected 👍
Thanks Steve
Good to see your not rolling around outside in the freezing cold Scottish weather! great vid thanks for that.
Hardest working lads iv seen in a long time good on ya both 👍👍
Thanks mate, nothing else for it
Great video guys - crazy to see how them wheel bearings work. Loving the new unit and got a right laugh out of the Chrisfix voiceover!
The ChrisFix bit was funny. In my head I also heard “out with the old, in with the new”. Looking forward to seeing the Lanoguard video
I was thinking that as i fitted them 🤣
Remember Ford focus when these bearing/hubs started to move , the official solution was thread lock lol
Another enjoyable hands on video
It's good to see work is coming in because you know have more overheads Good luck for the future
Top work lads as always, always thought they where mad aswell they bearings
Cheers mate
We don't complain you never get your hands dirty Charlie. We just want you to gain experience pal.
Great work fellas keep it up….🏴👍🥶🔩 5:44
Thanks mate
Thanks for the words of wisdom always lube
No problem mate 😂
I wouldn't have believed that if I hadn't seen it.... a bloody clip!
The Ford ones have nothing literally the same set up minus the clip 😂
@@gregshearer423incredible! Sometimes I think we are better off not knowing these things
Its a good job they are a tight fit.
Yep, it works though.
@@HomeBuilt aw aye can be a job getting them to start moving at times when replacing them
That was an "unknown" to me. Bring back . Split pin. Hub nut, pull off and Bob's your uncle. (sorted). See you both in the next one. ✔✔
No anger involved doing this big job. Years ago i worked as a young boy in a garage you would hear a macanic losing the plot with a tough bolt then it snaps and the customer foots the bigger bill because of the man hours to fix it fantastic content again boys.
Thanks Richard, i've never seen the point in losing the plot its only nuts and bolts at the end of the day.
So good to see you working in the warm (?), and not on the side othe road with cars coming by. Look forward to more great projects.
Good video enjoyed the good mechanic educational part well done. More videos like this please 👍
Excellent as usual guys,,, always be lubed up had me in bits 😂😂
Charlie didn’t even bat an eyelid 😂
Brilliant video guys nice fresh brakes and bearings on the rear and new clutch 👌 crazy set up with clips on the rear but it works 😅👍
Yes mate, drives mint now.
Much better with a proper clutch
@@HomeBuilt Excellent mate glad the VW is running sweet now with new rear brakes and clutch 👍
Let's hope the clip doesn't corrode before the bearing wears out
That wouldn't be great 😂
Great work! 😀
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice work,Does ChrisFix pop in at 4.44? or am i going mad!!
Nice work! 👍 Nice transporter!
Thank you very much!
DTE TV just showed how to fit the VW bearings with two 6mm pieces of wood cut to a semi circle to fit the bearing clip. Watch his channel for lots of VW tips.
Good job guys, would KY jelly do ? I’ve ran out of grease ? 😊
Pretty cool to see how some stuff is put together and just had simple it is really but you both done great im sure Charlie got his hands dirty as well lol
Thank you, he did 😂
Top job Scottie, I'd expect a system like that on and old French car not a modern VW.
Thanks Paul, it must work well they’ve done it for years now.
Great video, did my first one on my T6 today, thanks Guys.
No worries hope it helped mate
Nice work guys 👏 new one to me too with the push fit bearings... 😁
Thanks Ricky
Absolutely cracking little tool I really like what vw done with the bearings on the wheels if you have the tool it seems a pretty easy way to change & do mantanice loving this new unit & marvellous content have a blessed evening #homebuilt
Crazy Idea for bearing but so simple design German motors seem to lead the way easiest one I did was on my Mk5 golf hex bolt and just slide off the shafts and fronts just 4x star bits and comes away
The music adds value to these enjoyable videos. Who chooses the tracks?
Thanks Brian, I do most of the music and editing at the moment, charlie plays xbox 😂
Very good video. Just keep it sample. I’ve got an Audi just like the one you had. 2003-04 blue b6 tdi.Sad to say it needs a front wheel bearing. Rear abs. Just needs some love. Glen from Devon.
I’ve still got mine, my son in law has borrowed it for a bit.
I had to do callipers and rear ABS sensors on mine last year.
The Gen2 bearing setup can be a nightmare, they can come right out, others feel like they are welded in, be careful on the removal tools, some are all black finish, other silver and black, but they can be silver for taking out or black, cheap sets don't always have the instructions like genuine tools.
👍👍👍
Cheers
great video VW are doing everything to stop DIY work on their cars and you need to take to VW
all manufacturers are the same with diagnostic software
Haha get buzz gun end it 😂
Hi guys....love the channel....I know money's tight....but I think you should have gone for a slightly bigger unit...as you will quickly outgrow that one....all the best...
Not too much available around us, we’ll there is but it’s silly money.
I do have a long term plan in mind which will lead to bigger and better but we have to plod along for now.
This is a massive step up from our garage at home, it still feels massive at the moment 😂
Thanks for watching and supporting the channels.
@@HomeBuilt Everything's relative...it's a lot better than scrambling about on your driveway... sometimes you've just got to work away with what you've got....with your and Charlie's positivity....I'm sure you'll go on to bigger and better things...
It looks to me that the black anodised rings were for removing the bearing and the silver rings are for putting the new bearing in, the rings should clamp nice and snug on the new bearing and have no movement once the two halves of the rings are bolted together.
Its a great tool, done a few of these now since the video came out.
Turns out a lot of garages refuse to do them or want to charge crazy prices for it.
thank you gentlemen great content as usual,,,good to see you both enjoying working inside away from the elements too,
just curious if that tool is reasonably priced and what brand it is,👍👍
Hi Stevo, its great being inside.
The tool was just an unbranded ebay job for £45 mate.
Love watching your content and the father/son bonding, came here from Chops garage.Do ye fear that ye are making yourselves open to being sued by repairing the publics cars?People see fame and think easy money 🤷♂️
Thanks for watching, to be honest i don't worry about it. I don't see it being any different to any other garage or dealership. Im not sure we have that much fame for anyone to worry about that.
👍
you got a link to your adjustable rachet
Ive had tgis for years, came from machine mart i think. I did see Lidl had extendable ratchets in this week in 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2.
I'm about to do this job myself. Would some WD40 help around the bearing an hour or so before the job? Thanks
It won’t do any harm mate
That's mad how there held in ,I taught wheel spacers were dodgy.
Where do you get the tool from
Ebay mate
And yet, on smaller vag products the rear bearings are held on by a stretch bolt done up to a ridiculous torque then 180 degrees usually.
Front bearing are held in like this on polos and such like
how do Valeo make money if there stuff is crap?
There is always someone with a smaller budget or crappy dealers that will have the cheapest thing possible fitted so I suppose there will always be a market for it
@@HomeBuilt always thought they did OEM stuff
@squeakmillward valeo are a oem supplier
Drives the van away very carefully for the first few bends in case a wheel falls off !! LOL Do not like the clip on bearings at all
Mike
Never seen anything like that wheel bearing before but VW are a bad car over the years had more problems with them than any other motor a clip holding it on what other cars has these clips see if the viewers know of any ha mate
Phil in stoke
Ford have the same setup minus the clip
Hi Phil,
I’ve always loved VAG stuff and never really had any issues.
Apparently Ford have a similar setup on some models.
See you soon.
The next Class Action against VW after the emissions cheat launched by owners who get sick of their back wheels flying off lol? That does not come across as a particularly safe solution from VW
😂 maybe.
I’m sure it’s fine as they’ve been doing it for years, the early transporters are all the same along with the Tourag and some Polo’s and Golfs.
Thanks for watching dude.
@@HomeBuilt yeah but something inside of me favours the security of nuts bolts and screws - I don't even trust that push fit plumbing stuff........ and I have used it to plumb in my kitchen sink myself but it just feels wrong lol
I know what you mean 🤣
A few other makes use the same setup, Ford C-Max has it on the front, and a tiny little bolt retaining the driveshaft
@@darrenwilson8042 Ford don’t even have the clip on the same style bearings they just use hopes and prayers 😂
