Funny thing, it didn't take much research but Nokia began making products in the late 18 hundreds and they publicly released their phones in 1991 and one of the most common ones was a blue Nokia phone.
Nokia released the first commercially available GSM mobile phone in 1992 and by the end of 1998 it was the biggest mobile phone brand and had manufactured over 100 million mobile phones. Steve and his girlfriend might’ve both had one of them.
Hell, the Nokia 2010 was released in Jan 1994 and it was essentially the first commercially available mobile/cell phone that allowed sms text messaging. According to the late Matti Makkonen, a manager of Nokia Mobile Phones at the time, Nokia 2010 was the first mobile phone to enable writing messages easily. So it was entirely possible that Steve & his girlfriend had one, even though they were expensive at the time.
Not sure why they don't give fans a run down on what happened. I understand that it is sort of private personal information, but their friendship was definitely not private as we saw it all the time in their videos and in their vlogs. Those original barbell guys are a huge part of what made it the gym that we all thought it was and with them suddenly gone, the whole barbell vibe is gone. Honestly it just looks like a higher end commercial gym now and there seems to be fairly little gym community.
