Hi rick just entering hoping to get it as. I think a Ping g425 Driver would be newer than an r7 425. First handicap last year was 42 now 28 so looking for more forgiveness.
Honestly, I don't think I have ever wanted someone to succeed more in my life. How likable is James. He just seems to be such a stand up fellow. I think this could be a new series Trying for course records with you and other PGA tour players or pro golfer buddies.
As a beginner golfer it’s so good to see how tour professionals play on a public course. James was so unlucky on some holes but that’s how golf is. It would be good to see him come back and break this course record. Keep the videos coming
@@danielwake7621 my local course has every green on a 15+foot hill. if you miss it you are chipping 15 feet up blind onto a tiny ass green. so many times chips roll over lol
I was lucky enough to be on the course that day watching James. His ball striking is another level and he is such a nice chap, always smiling and both James and Rick happy to chat to the members the whole way round the course. The par 3’s on our course are tough and he made it look easy. Just a few loose puts and couple of drives out of position on the day….but I guess that’s all it takes…Amazing content Rick thanks for coming. Everyone at the course is buzzing about the video. Tick on the bucket list for me, thanks for the selfie!!! Hope to see you both in the summer for the Max Faulkner challenge ….hopefully someone breaks the record then!
Just proves that courses don't have to be long to be challenging. Premium on straight is always difficult. Nice layout. Have one of these short 9s with double tees nearby that I need to play more frequently.
How old is your course? It looks like a delightful, yet challenging 9/18 holes. I was wondering why they chose winter to do this, not so forgiving. I think summer will see a new record round. Hope there's another video for when the Max Faulkner challenge is on.
“Beat the Course Record”. This would be an entertaining series with PGA Pros attempting to break various course records. James is a cool dude and a joy to watch. Good job to you Rick for awesome narration.
Pretty amazing to see a player this good have a go at a course like this, there are so many small courses that just play hard. Hope to see more videos like this!
A par 64 course is usually a lot tougher than people think! I was a member of a par 64 course. It was a full 18 holes, but everything was so tight and unforgiving. Not a surprise that the course record is only 1 over
If there's anything I learn from James, it's how he keeps his mental game in check. He's always laughing, always smiling, and never lets the bad shots get to him. He's a cool little addition to the channel when you have him on! Keep up the good work Rick!
I would be curious to know when the record was set. I find it hard to believe some random golfer scored +1 with how terrible those greens are. Obviously they’re in much better condition in the summer
If they hosted an NCAA division 3 tournament someone would shoot 2-3 under without at doubt. A division 1 or any level tour event 59’s like they are cool. Guys will get the ball in the hole no matter what the conditions are. And yeah some will struggle just like any other course.
I was a member here for about 17 years. Managed to get down to 5 with a best round of 67. I had many 9 holes level but as with many amateurs the mind then starts to play with you (especially when playing the same holes twice). Due to how tight it is and the long par 3s it's one of the hardest courses I know, and strangely, although local knowledge is helpful, the more you play it the tougher it seems sometimes. I've seen many comments saying come back in summer. Granted the lies will be better, the greens smoother and faster and you'll get a lot more roll off the tee shots but the firmer greens and the fact most are all slightly raised does not mean it makes it significantly easier, plus you can get a few odd bounces. Would be great to watch. I actually marked the card of the previous course record (there must have been a course change / tweak since it was achieved) as it was a level par 64. New to the channel, but already looking forward to you returning to Pastures in the summer. Good luck, I think you may need some to shoot under par. Enjoying the channel 👍🏻
James is such a good sport, seems to be an absolute delight to play with. While watching, I felt a strong feeling of actually wanting him to succeed, like it was my national football-team playing in the World Cup.
Rick, have you ever considered doing a series where you go around to different courses and try to break the records there? You could do it with other UA-cam golfer and friends, or even the individual who holds the course record (if they are available and willing to participate).
That was great to watch, James is the perfect example of how we should all approach the game, so level headed and you can tell he really enjoys the game and its challenges. Looking forward to you taking on the same challenge, good luck I'm sure you'll do great.
This was so refreshing to see a different style of course. It's so nice to see shorter, tigher courses. Wish there were more of these on the PGA Tour instead of just massive fairway and 600 yard Par 5's..
Love James' attitude. A lot can be learned from just how calm and steady he is with his emotions. Would love to see a video from the both of you on course and emotion management combined. Fab video as well!
This has got the makings of a great little series. I really enjoy watching James play, he stays so calm and looks like he loves playing the game. Great video Rick!
I honestly think James is one of your best guests on the show, mostly because he has a great personality and a wonderful swing. Can't wait to see more!
Love to see how James just kept on smiling through the entire video even though things didn't go his way he seems like such a likeable guy. Love the vids Rick keep it up
Would love to see James give it a few more tries at this challenge, make this like a series if needed, to first break the record and once he does that (he will do it for sure) to take on another challenge about “how low can he go”. Love his personality. Go James! 👊
Loving these videos Rick. I’ve started playing golf a year ago and been watching your videos religiously to improve my score on the course. So far I’ve lowered my score from 140 to 103 over the last year. Thanks for all the great content and lessons
Hey Rick, so nice to see you both on a "normal golf course", with greens with patches, etc. I enjoyed to see James struggling a bit, but surely in the summer you should be able to make the record!
I love you showing us how pros fare on courses we play. Looks like a super tough course to score on based on the hole selections (no par 5s), layout and distances. I’d love to see how he plays in summer conditions.
Incredibly fun video and love the idea of finding courses with seemingly "easy" records and trying to beat them! James was also such a great sport! He kept it together the entire time, even with tough shots.
Fantastic effort from James considering the wretched conditions out there. A lot of tour players would have been nonstop whining but James plucked along with a smile. What a man!

Loved this video, James brings an everyman feel to the pro golfer by playing regular courses with all the pitfalls you dont get on the tour, such as suspect cuts. Keep it up!!
When people talk about the mental game, James is the perfect example of having it locked down. He doesn’t let anything bother him and it’s amazing to watch
I found this video really encouraging. When a guy like James has that much trouble with a damp course and ordinary greens, it makes me feel a lot better about my play! Cheers James - loved your attitude when it wasn't going well.
This would be a fantastic series! I'm sure everyone would love to watch yourself or tour players try their hand at beating different public course records every week. You're the man, Rick!
This video was amazing to watch. It’s amazing to watch a tour pro play. He didn’t play his best golf by a long shot and it was still amazing golf to watch. I’d die to be that talented. So fun listening to Rick and james talk about strategy. They are living the dream!
Give James another go this spring or summer. Has some experience now and will undoubtedly have better conditions. Fun watching someone play an unseen course in not ideal conditions. Great video!
Rick, I watch a lot of golf channels but your's is the only one I always watch till the end. Great content , always interesting and most importantantly fun. Thanks for a great show! Pieter
Those greens looked like they were rolling about a 7 😂 tough to score when you can’t get the ball to the hole. James seems like a great guy. Really enjoyed this one
James is an example of how to play golf with a smile 😅on one’s face and without too much frustration - love to have his attitude- seems like a good guy
James’ swing is pure butter. So interesting to see a player of that level playing a similar standard of course to what most of us regular players play every weekend. Class content as usual Rick
Great content idea, it would be interesting to see the result replayed during the summer months when I'm sure that the original record was set. Great effort James
started golfing this month absolutely love it have watched your videos everyday constantly i can honestly say they are so amazing and helpful seeing how good golfers play and your teaching videos
After watching James struggle on this course, now I realize that these difficult public courses are what's hurting my game. I'm probably a scratch golfer on a nice championship course...and with a new driver! Haha! Loved watching James have a go at this course record, he seems such a nice guy that he probably didn't want to take it away from the locals.
I really really like the video's you do with James, He's such a cool guy and a fantastic player and even though James struggled here a bit i generally think he would tear this course up in the summer with better lies and better conditioned greens that would also run faster, he left a lot of puts short.
What an effort from James - would have been amazing to break the course record under those conditions. I hope we get to see James give it another go under somewhat better conditions, sunny weather and dry greens and fairways. Someone also suggested that You, Rick make a series out of it, that I think is an excellent idea !
You got to love James. It just wasn't his day on the greens. What I liked most about James is the big smile when things weren't going his way and he didn't give any excuses for poor shots. Quality guy.
James seems like a genuine dude. I was however glad to see that an amateur was able to keep that course record for a little while longer. Great vid Rick!
Love watching James play, lovely guy and wished he’d been able to shoot par or better. Tough lies around that little gem of a course! Needing a new driver to complete my new set. Just got Taylormade P790s thanks to Rick’s reviews!
I am new to golf and since i started, i followed this channel and it helped me a lot. watching them hit the fairway is a lot of help giving me inputs on how to play the game. thumbs up and looking forward for more videos like this.
The fact that James was that calm throughout the entire time he was playing is really impressive. I also feel like if he was to come back in some better conditions, he would be a lot closer to getting course record.
Hope James plays the most toughest challenge yet! Love your videos Rick. I am a big golf fan and you have helped my golf game a lot better than I ever played before. Thanks for your support Rick and Thanks again.
Just got into golf last year and absolutely love it, Me and my dad go almost every Sunday in the summer but definitely would love to get him a new driver for Christmas!
Other than the fairways being so tight, those greens were patchy as hell. Anyone would have a hard time putting on them as those patched will push the ball anywhere. I enjoyed the video, thanks Rick!
Would be interesting to see you both go back in more favourable conditions. Can see it’s hard to adjust to the slower greens. Shows the huge difference in green speeds between top level golf and a course the majority of us are playing.
I’d like to see you and James have another go in the summer when conditions would be a bit fairer. Reckon the current record holder was right about the strategy though. Stay out of trouble, find the fairways.
Love a bit of realism from battling with the "less-than-perfect" conditions of your usual player's course. Massive appreciation for some of the chips off the muddy lies. A mud-ball chip in would have just made it 😆
There's no way I'm shooting anything under double bogey on every single hole on this course, it looks increadibly difficult. As always the James content is great!
These videos with pros really point out how important familiarity with the course is - I think the results would be a lot different if they could play a practice round first!
I just want to say Thankyou for helping me start to play golf, i have been playing for 3 months and your videos have been a great help and I have fallen for the game!

This video is inspiring. Even pros can struggle, especially on unknown courses. I've been really working on my attitude towards bad hits and the like.
These videos with pros really point out how important familiarity with the course is - I think the results would be a lot different if they could play a practice round first!
I'd love to see James give it another go. I really think he could beat the record.
Really appreciate the content Rick. After being unemployed for 7 months now, golf has really saved me from a deep depression.
Keep your chin up man, things will change!
I just want to say Thankyou for helping me start to play golf, i have been playing for 3 months and your videos have been a great help and I have fallen for the game!
