That was fkn epic! As a fan of the genre, this was honestly some of the best vocals I've heard. Effortlessly going between false chord screaming and fry screams. Amazing. Kate wasn't wrong about the comparison to opera. Unfortunately its just not a mainstream genre so people dont really understand it.

Finally something different for The Voice Australia. And the fact that she learnt that just from watching UA-cam tutorials. Death metal isn't easy especially with the scream voice too.
(PS. When she sung it again, I fuckin' lost it when they showed Sonia rocking out grabbing the camera 😂 that shit was gold).

Loved the performance! Completely unexpected. I hope she is versatile enough to make it in this contest, but honestly, she's so much in her own lane, with her own unique talents, that she should have a record deal immediately and just bypass the whole dog and pony show.

I loved this performance. One of the two best so far in my opinion. I thought she delivered a an incredibly powerful song in her chosen genre. I was hugely impressed. Soooo good.

Maybe is just that I grew up listening to this kind of music in high school, but I think she deserved more turns. That was incredible and so unique compared to other performances. It seems sometimes like judges are just looking for someone who sounds exactly like an already-famous singer, which we don’t need. I guess I can understand that they wouldn’t know how to coach her, but I legitimately think she could win if she had professionals helping her.

As someone who loves some metal music I thought she was awesome. Genuinely good voice and I was pleasantly surprised that a judge turned because they wouldn't really know how to coach someone like Mol. A lot of respect for Kate who isn't just going for the easy mainstream choices. Let's make metal mainstream. Hell yeah. I reckon Mol definitely listens to Windwakers version of Toxic

Good to see that at least one recognised the actual talet and practice this would require. I know, to do it right without killing your voice is not easy.
I dont fully like old death metal, but I absolutely enjoy a lot of what it became, deathcore. It was originally going to be called death metal with a year association but it was eventually decided to call it the core of death metal, deathcore. It's technically death metal, just the core of it. Occasionally I see fans of old death metal try to say they don't like deathcore, they definitely love it. Deathcore is undeniably better but I respect death metals roots, they make sense but old death metal was a underground phenomenon as where when it became deathcore it became mainstream and bands like suicide silence won Grammys and bands like white chapel ruled the metal world for awhile and then you have the current super iconic band FaceYourself and other modern mainstream deathcore bands like Lorna Shore, Immortal Disfigurement, NightCrawler. But as it stands, FaceYourself is undeniably the best one around every music video so far is exceptionally excellent. And, that band has a awesome female lead vocalist, they also have Russian aesthetics but I think they might be Italians???
Likewise not a fan of death metal here but I am absolutely drawn to this performance and keep re-watching it! When she first switches into the metal arrangement I get this huge burst of energy and I think it’s coming from HER - she’s an atomic bomb of energy as well as being super creatively talented with this arrangement.
